of the night and can't get back to sleep? Yeah, that was last night. My friend mentioned she has a closet that has built in shelves for her scrapbooking stuff. She has about 1/10 of my crap. So I started thinking about how I could put in shelves that were much smaller than the 16 inch wide wire shelves I have in my closet. I can't get anything out of the back part without taking it all out in the front. So I decided to pull it all out. Then I made a sketch of two shelves that were only about 10-11 inches deep so I could actually pull out things from the back. I asked my husband if he'd help me. He said sure if I went to Lowe's and got the wood, planned the shelves and measured it all. He'd pull out the table saw and help me put in screws. That was all I needed to hear. Three hours later, I had the wood, the plans, and the boards all measured to cut and we got both of them put together and they are in my closet. Now there is just one problem... who is going to put it all back? I need to purge a few things... clearly.

I guess this would be a great opportunity to do a little reorganization if necessary. Your new shelving sounds great.

It is 90% done. Even though it looks like a mess, it was an organized mess. I'll finish the rest tomorrow and take a picture. I have a nice donate pile that I'll offer to my friend first before it goes to Goodwill. I just have my scrap table left to clear off. Woot!

(Sounds like you have a great dh, helping you with the building of it)
I'm looking forward to the finished photos.

I have gotten up in the middle of the night to look at scrapbooks or even move things around, but never building anything! I have though, like you, recently added several shelf units to my scrap space to begin reorganizing.

I'm doing this right now! The waking up in the middle of the night and can't shut your brain off to go back to sleep! Ack! Only my brain was thinking about work at a job I don't HAVE anymore (quit 2 months ago). OMG! Clearly my brain is doing something wrong here.

I was a little worried about building something with my husband during a time when we spend SO MUCH time together. We are both type A personalities when something really needs to be done correctly. I thought we might get on each other's nerves a bit (but was willing to step back to get these shelves made). He must have thought the same thing because he just said he'd cut the wood for me. We have a table saw and I know how to use use it, but 8 foot pieces of heavy wood on a table saw can be a little daunting by yourself.

But most importantly... my guest chair. For the dog.

That looks like a lot of fun to play with though! I'm the type that thinks, thinks, thinks, thinks, and then maybe I follow through.

And another set of punches... Do those stay on the shelves? I'm not the best at stacking things. I immediately saw them falling over at an unexpected time and making me jump.

The punches on the shelves are good (on the wall and in the brown trays). Once in a while I will push the door open too far and a bag of punches will fall.

I hope you love your new system and it makes things easier. My brother won him at a fair in the 80's. He's one of the few things I have kept from childhood. Love that he came back in the commercials this last Christmas season.

Here is one of my walls of punches and my credenza. Okay, I need to hear the story about those dragons! I taught elementary school and it is essential that an elementary school teacher has something they love. . Some of these I collected, but many were given to me by students. They are also on the sides of the credenza and the picture above my ladder shelf on the right of the punches is a picture drawn by Michael Hague, one of my favorite illustrators who draws a lot of dragons (who visited my school).
