I don't know if anyone remembers but my dd was being wined and dined by 3 schools for their PhD programs. She is doing biomedical engineering.
All 3 paid for her travel, hotel, food, etc. University of Delaware was the only school that made her the graduate assistantship offer before she went. Full tuition, stipend, etc. The other two did not make a formal offer to any students they brought in.
The other schools my dd applied to either didn't offer her an assistantship or didn't accept her at all but she heard from them one way or another.
The other 2 schools that wanted her NEVER let her know either way if she was accepted or rejected. Who does that? Now PhD programs are much more selective and you don't just get into the school, you have to match with the professors. I am so stunned that they couldn't be bothered to at least tell my dd that they weren't interested.
Overall it didn't matter because my dd was so impressed with Delaware and they wanted her so much they offered her an additional fellowship for her first year. She accepted and she has already found a great apartment with a 4th year grad student. The really nice thing is she will be able to cover her rent, food, most of her expenses with her stipend.

I’m so happy for your daughter! It looks pike she found her place and has an incredibly bright future ahead.
I’m frankly, very surprised at the other schools’ lack of communication. If this is the way they treat candidates, soon no one will want to apply. No one wants to be treated that way.

My DD just finished her first year of grad school. She is getting a PhD in Microbiology. She was invited to 3 campuses with all costs paid, dinners, meetings with professors etc. She heard from all three and then selected the one she wanted. She was accepted at all three so I don't know if that changes the response. They should notify regardless so you aren't waiting. Congrats to your daughter!

Dh got his PhD from U Del. She is going to love the community.
I can't answer to the rest, it's the only school DH applied to. He was going to the professor, not the school.

Yay for your DD!
Well, DS didn’t get his acceptance letter for U Michigan until October. For fall semester that had started a month earlier. The letter didn’t seem like a form letter—well, I’m sure it was, but it was personalized with some details that would have made it necessary for a human to adapt it vs a computer.
Yeah, he’d already moved into an apartment and had a good month of school under his belt before the letter came. What on earth were they thinking?

Congratulations! I hear Univ. of Delaware is a great school. That's frustrating that the schools didn't let her know. Was she the one who was interested in Pitt? I can't keep track of all our college kids!

Congratulations for your daughter!
They can't wine and dine so many prospective students that they can't be bothered to let them know, right? It is so arrogant. I am sure your DD wrote and thanked them and told them she was so interested? Then how dang hard is it to say "you are wonderful, but just not right for us." Aargh. I am happy your DD found the right place for her.
