I AM OVER IT! Question 2 wouldn't load. Probably lost question 1 when he finally reloaded page which they're explicitly told not to do, but with it hanging for 15 minutes and only 15 minutes left what the hell was he supposed to do. And the good news is he has 3 more exams and my daughter has 2. Wish they would have done what IB did and just cancel the damn things.

I am so sorry. Will he try to retake the test?
My son has 2 tests next week. I just spent about 30 minutes watching a 90 minute video on how to take the AP test this year. DS counselor sent out other resources for getting set up for the testing and said to allow 2-3 hours to go over everything. There are so many details .....

Ugh, I am sorry. I hope your kid feels ok — that is terrible.
My oldest took one today and didn’t have any problems (I felt terrible possibly distracting them but did walk through the room just to make sure). I will say, I usually give my students a timed final exam, and our registrar’s office was still running them this exam period, but I gave my students a take-home because I was so worried about tech issues.

Ugh, not good. We don't have one here until Friday - hopefully they'll have the bugs worked out.
Fortunately, we're not depending on scores for anything important. Texas public universities (where my daughter is most likely to attend) really don't like to accept them for core equivalency for very many things.

He's sending an email to his coordinator to see if there's a way to double check that his first answer was actually submitted and not lost when he reloaded. He so does not want to retake in June and would gladly lose out on the minutes waiting for it to load to not have to retake. What a cluster.

I'm just hoping the math one goes well next week, it's definitely more likely to impact credit and placement.

I’m sorry! My son takes his test on Wednesday. I’m so glad he only has 1 this year. I feel for the kids with multiple. The stress of just the hoping it works alright is almost as bad as the test.

My college freshman is seriously PO'd that her little sister only has to sit much shorter, open-book tests.

I'm so sorry. APs were stressful enough without all the current adjustments to the format.

My son is pissed that my daughter's IB exams were cancelled - but she reminded him that it means that the items that were supposed to be 25% of their grade are now 100% and if they were close to a score that would give them credit they're now sol which she's pretty sure is the case in at least one class where her IA was eh. She is an extremely good test taker that would have probably bumped her up.

Call College Board and see what they say (student has to call, they will not work with parents, but parents can be on speaker phone)

My daughter takes exams Thrus. and Fri. I will let her know! She was told to expect many issues. Our interenet isn't working well, so we are very worried about her even being able to complete the exam. And it stinks, because with the quarantine, we can't even go to a friends for her to take the exam.

My daughter had gov/pol today and it was fine. She has them every day this week but Friday and one on Monday. I don't anticipate they'll all be glitch free like it was for her today.

OP, how frustrating for your son!! I hope he's not too upset about it.
DS had one today and he said it went fine. I'm worried about Wednesday though because he has 3 plus DD has two college finals during the same time. I told DD to let her profs know ahead of time that if there are any wifi issues, AP gets priority. She goes to a small college and the profs know her and will be much more flexible than College Board.

DD and DS have both experienced internet disruptions. It’s gotten to the point that they use their phones as backup hotspots in case our cable WiFi goes down. . DD even submitted a screenshot to her professor to show that there was an outage in our area when it happened the first time.

High school exams have been canceled here. I hope everyone having tech issues with writing exams is provided some reasonable fixes!

Ugh, this makes me nervous. DS has his first ever AP test tomorrow afternoon. I already knew I wanted to be here "just in case" but now I'm glad I'm going to be home. Hopefully all goes well for him because he's taking on his birthday!

Texas public universities (where my daughter is most likely to attend) really don't like to accept them for core equivalency for very many things. Interesting. I attended a non-public Texas university and they didn't give credit for AP tests, either. I just figured it was them being all private-y and snobby, but maybe not.

I attended a non-public Texas university and they didn't give credit for AP tests, either. I just figured it was them being all private-y and snobby, but maybe not. It's more that they tend to have them count for classes that are not core, so students may or may not need them depending on their major. As I recall (I used to be an advisor at UH) this was a particular problem with AP Lit, which counted for a class that could not be used as a humanities core for some reason. And for math, they'd accept the credit, but only if you could also pass the math placement test into a higher math than the one you had AP credit for. Same with music theory. Music majors were MAD when their AP theory score didn't count for anything if they'd forgotten it all and couldn't also test out of introductory theory. I don't remember about the science courses, because honestly, there weren't too many music majors who came in with a 4 or 5 on AP Physics or Chemistry. APUSH was the one that they did tend to get credit for. Seems like they could choose to exempt either the first or second semester of US History, but not both. Texas schools really prefer students to do dual credit vs. AP if they can. That's an easy 1:1 match for core classes. I used to have kids from the suburbs come in as sophomores because they had so much dual-credit coursework. And then they and their parents were mad because a music degree takes four or even five years regardless of how many core credits you come in with, because of the necessity for sequential coursework.

Middle ds is scheduled to take calculus tomorrow. He’s complained that almost every video the college board sent out has a mistake that they later correct. Ds, his guidance counselor and I have been fighting with them for a week to try to change his exam from AB to BC. He didn’t get an email confirmation from them until last week, past their deadline to change. Unless there’s a miracle tomorrow morning, I think he’s stuck which is frustrating. Every time we’ve called, we’ve been put on hold for at least 30 minutes, so good luck to anyone trying to get through.

He purchased a 100 ft network cord, and has run it from our basement (where the modem is) to her room. So she will be directly connected, and he still wants us all off our devices. A part of me thinks I will probably need to leave the house when she takes the test, BUT I'm also worried if she has issues, I may need to hang around (although who knows what I could do).

Wow. --- Good luck to her!
