There's a lot of back and forth about face masks and why or why not they should be worn.
I wish everyone could step back long enough to consider the facts of the matter, something I think VOX did very well:
Posting this for anyone who didn't know about this video so they can inform the less knowledgeable in their circles.
Cheers.

Good video. We wear face masks everywhere. I think our county is going to require them.

Currently I have 5 masks. They travel with me to work and upon entering the door to the common area of work, I put one on. It stays on, other than eating lunch, when I'm in my cubicle. At the end of the day it goes in the dirty bag in my car. On Friday, all 5 masks are hand washed by me, rinsed out and hung up to dry. Then they go into a fresh plastic bag for the week.

Thank you! I’ve been so sick of the anti-mask, conspiracy theorists on my Facebook.

Good video. We wear face masks everywhere. I think our county is going to require them. There was an article in our local news that said that counties in TX could not require them to be worn because our governor said otherwise, and the counties have to follow his direction. Interesting that others can. It’s crazy that there are so many different orders to follow. You just don’t know who’s right sometimes.

In our state (NC) the counties can enact stricter measures, but cannot loosen any.

I can say that people here in AZ are changing their behavior to reflect the governor's orders. When I went to the grocery store last week, maybe 75-80% were wearing masks. Most people were shopping alone with almost no kids in the store.
Governor Ducey has since lifted restrictions on restaurant dining in place and gyms/pools may open on Friday. We don't meet any of the criteria from the CDC for re-opening, but he's made it clear that he feels the virus is under control.
Today when I went to the store, fewer than 50% of people were wearing masks. Lots of older people and women - but quite a large number of men age 40-60ish not wearing them. People were in larger groups than before - shopping with kids who were old enough to stay home, shopping as couples rather than single shoppers, unlike last week. Everything was back to normal, other than a few people wearing masks.

Very interesting.
Boris Johnson finally announced at the weekend that now masks should be worn whilst out in public areas, having been adamant that they are of no benefit. I made a makeshift one out a silk scarf (the only square piece of fabric I could find) and a couple of hair elastics, and wore it for the first time to the supermarket.
Problem #1: I wore lipstick. What a dingbat - nobody is going to see my mouth for goodness sake! Stupid stuff stuck to the silk, and I only had my tongue to push it away, which made the fabric wet, which then stuck to my face, so it was now cold as well as stuck. Shan't do that again! Problem #2: It kept loosening. I suspect silk is too slippery. A raid on my fabric bits'n'pieces crate is now on the To Do list. Problem #3: my reading glasses kept misting up. So I took them off and put them on my head, and didn't want to touch them again with dirty hands. Then I couldn't read the stupid shopping list. Problem #4: already breathless, the mask made me more breathless, and light-headed.
This takes practise!

I wish someone would show this to the maskless woman in the UPS store today who stared defiantly around at the rest of us (3-4 people, all standing well apart) in our masks. The look on her face was clearly daring someone to say something. No one did, but at least two of us glared right back at her.
I just don't understand the big anger over being asked to do this simple thing to protect others. It's not that hard.

Our county (in FL) is requiring them so far. I wear them any time I have to leave the house (which is not often!)

I just don't understand the big anger over being asked to do this simple thing to protect others. It's not that hard. It doesn't make you look brave, independent or smart when you refuse to wear a mask. It makes you look stupid and petulant IMHO.

We went to a county where face masks are required for all businesses-employees and customers. First we went to a convenience store to get my dd some mustard gardettos (only place i can find them around here). The employee had her mask pulled down below her nose. As I left, a state cop walked in with no mask whatsoever. Then we went to a little nursery to get some flowers to plant. Employees were not wearing masks at all. Then we went to the grocery store for food and I think everyone there was wearing a mask and wearing them properly.

Good video. They make sense to wear if you don't show symptoms for days.
They make me sad, they are unCanadian, you can't see people smiling. We're very give a smile to a stranger in the store for a million reasons, to gesture them to go ahead, to thank them for letting you go etc and the masks block that friendly contact. Makes me feel more isolated when you finally do go out.

I try to convey a smile with my eyes.

Mask wearing was never a popular activity in my county and even less so now. We are all somehow immune. Or anxious to get sick. I'm not sure which, but they seem to be doing it with gusto.
Where I work, nearly everyone we deal with is 65 or over. Of the few who come in wearing masks, they are hanging down beneath their chins, they fiddle with them, taking them off and back on again, or they just take them off entirely and shove them in their bags. Only one, since I have been back to work came in with a mask on, kept the mask on, and left with the mask on. Most of them have a devil may care attitude.

One of the funniest (sad) things I’ve been reading about masks on FB is: they make you breathe in your own virus. So you will make yourself sick. So help me God...I’ve read it more than once.
