What kind of short hair is popular right now? Anything really cute out there?
I desperately need my hair cut, but indecision paired with needing to find a new stylist is making this very difficult!

I think they're called stacked bobs, short and wedge in back long in front. People love it or hate it. Disclaimer- popular with middle age women camouflaging jaw line.
Ashley, you're probably too young and cute!
Short boycut styles are still big here. I would do it in a heartbeat...

I think angled bobs are pretty cute... but sort of overdone at this point for me. Though I have considered doing it again, because it's easy and flattering.
I think my face is much too fat, and my hair much too thin, for those boycut styles (I am thinking they are sort of like pixie cuts?)

Last time I got mine cut shorter, my stylist told me stacked bobs are out, but asymmetrical bobs are still in.

My sister has a round face and she wears one of those boycut/pixie styles, it isn't flattering on her.
She wears it that way because she is up early (5:00 a.m), works in downtown Vancouver and has 2 hours of commuting each day to/from the suburbs. She wants easy and I get it. But really, I don't wear my hair that way, I have length and styled bangs, she has the same hair as I do. It only takes me about 10-12 minutes to blow dry/style and run the flat iron thru my hair.
But it's her hair and her time, not mine.
Edited to add that my hair looks pretty much exactly like my avatar.

I am over the bob thing. Had one for years. I just got my hair cut like the first photo on my haircut pinboard. Love it! I have a fat face but I don't care. I am just not a long hair type girl. Dina's haircut ideas board

Dina's haircut ideas boardI have that same picture pinned to my hair board. Thanks for sharing your Pinterest board... lots of great ideas there! I have almost the same ones saved to mine. I need a new stylist... I took some of these in to my guy and I just didn't like what he did. I LOVE him, love his salon, he's great to talk to, intelligent, he has great taste in music and art, his salon is nice but really low key (I'm not into this aveda salon/neck massage/high end foofy stuff) but his style just doesn't work for my hair.

I had a short pixie cut for many, many years. I have a long, thin face and an incredibly small head, and I found it flattering.
I've since grown my hair out and get so many compliments on it. The short cut was fun, easy and flattering, but i feel more feminine with the longer hair. It is now just above my shoulders and I won't let it get any longer.

Yeah, the stylist makes all the difference for short hair. Mine does my entire haircut with a razor. She is good. She just moved to a salon an hour away, which is a pain, but I will still drive there. A stylist who can do short hair is worth his/her weight in gold!

KikiPea, good to know. It's not like I'm super trendy but like to keep up. I'm not, either. I wear what looks good on me, no matter what the style, but I was looking for a little bit of a change for the summer, nothing drastic. That'a what she told me when we started talking bobs. DH wouldn't like it if I went shorter than that.

Believe it or not, I have found some really cute short hair styles on a website that sells WIGS! I'm not at my computer right now but I will edit later to post the link. I have the hardest time finding cute hair styles that look right for a 40-something like me. I don't like anything super short because my hair is a lot thinner now than it used to be. I don't like anything with too many layers because I don't have the time or money to get it cut every five weeks to keep it looking good, I don't have the patience to spend more than 5-10 minutes on it every day and don't want to have to use a ton of products just to look presentable. I'm lucky to have found an amazing stylist that can work miracles with my weird cowlicks. I found a look that I liked, printed out a bunch of pics from the web and he was able to do it for me. Wig website

I'm getting ready to donate my hair, but I have no idea what to do with it after. I am plagued by crazy cowlicks in the front, have no skill at using a curling iron, flat iron, round brush, etc, and have what I consider a pretty large head. No idea what to do.

I have had my hair short for years and years and years. I currently wear it in a modified version of Claire Underwood from House of Cards.

I don't know that my cut is popular, but I like it. I have a very short pixie now, even shorter than my avatar pic. When I had it long, I always wore it up. If I styled it, it took at least 45 minutes to do it and I got tired of it. I have a standing appointment every month for color and a cut. It literally takes me 10 minutes or less to dry and style my hair. It's just easier and I always feel put together.

I have a round face. I have short not quite a pixie, but close. it took 20 years off me and looks great. don't assume round or fat faces can't go short. get a good stylist and find what looks best. I have been getting shorter since last summer. finally this year my cut was almost all razored at the finish. I don't do the spiky thing. closer to the grand daughters cut on Blue Bloods.

I'm not sure what's in style - I just do what works for me. Mine is short and spiked out with hair mud. I've worn it like this for years because its so easy. I'm at the gym every day with part of my workout is in the pool and my hair holds up without needing to be fixed when I'm done. I get stopped so often when I'm out and about complimenting my haircut that I finally started carrying my hairdresser's card in my wallet to hand out.

I don't have anything trendy. I have a very tailored bob. It's not stacked, it's not anything fancy. I've tried from almost to my waist in layers to very very short almost "boy" short. I think the bob works best for me. This thread reminds me that I need to get it trimmed.

I think the pixie type cut is pretty popular now. When I had mine cut to what it is now (see my avatar) I looked up "short choppy hairstyles" on Pinterest and found quite a few. I always get so many compliments on my hair, it is easy to style and is super easy to handle and cool during our really hot Summers.

I've grown out my "mom bob" over the past year - it's now shoulder-length with layers and side-swept bangs. I wore a pixie cut years ago and really liked it, but my 13-year-old is wearing her hair in a pixie right now (she looks adorable) and is horrified at the thought of us having the same haircut.

Wig website That's really helpful, thank you! I'm going through the same thing as the OP. I want a new hairstyle, but when I pick up one of those hairstyle magazines, they show all these crazy styles that no human being would actually wear. On the wig site, they are all normal, reasonable styles. I found one that I like, and I will show it to my hairstylist!! And then she will cut my hair the exact same way she always does. Because that seems to be the relationship we've developed over the years. But hope never dies!

I've got that stacked bob, too. I love it. Super easy.
If you want to go really short, I like kaylee cuoco's look with the short hair and sort of long sweep of bangs.
