I remember in Australia in the 80s we had nurses come to the school and give us the rubella vaccination, because I think around then the link between German measles and birth defects had come out in research. I don’t recall a single girl in my class not getting it.

Do these people not have cellphones? Because if they do, they’re effectively microchipped anyway, no? They’ve already told FB, google & amazon more about them than they are worried about.

It's all about their illusion of what they are "in control" of Remember that long missive (fake BTW) thing a few years ago people were posting about not giving Facebook permission to use their photos? Duh, dude, you posted it on Facebook after agreeing to their terms.

I went through last week and did a blanket unfriending of anyone who posted this nonsense and any other conspiracy theory. They will not be missed.
I remember as recently as when my youngest who is now 24, got the nasal flu vaccine at school assembly line style. I'm not sure whether GWB was still in office or if we had transitioned to Obama, but that happened in our recent history. When was the rise of the anti-vaxxers?

For those of you of my vintage, remember getting polio shots as a child? Or perhaps a sugar cube? Those sort of mass inoculation programs will never work in this country again. Because too many don't "belive in science." "Science is not a belief system." One of my favorite quotes these days. Why is this so hard to understand??

And lots of these fools are homeschooling (not just during this “flu”) their children full time because they don’t trust the education system either. We are completely screwed.

A good friend from high school just posted this on Facebook. The older we get, the deeper he seems to go down the conspiracy theory rabbit hole.

To be fair, they also think Trump is a good president so...........yeah. They aren't exactly known for their critical thinking skills and understanding of science. At least they’re getting easier and easier to pick out these days. Yep. That's one of the best things about social media. They out themselves.

I have an old student (from the 80's) who posts this crap all of the time. I had to put him on a 30 day freeze. He is really a sweet guy, but man, is he driving the crazy train.

I have a few friends who are huge Trump supporters that answer those quizzes on FB ALL THE TIME and say the democrats are out to steal their info. Makes me giggle.

I remember being shocked at all the anti-evolution threads at the old board. Full of “evolution is just a tHeOrY!!!eleven!” and “I believe in Intelligent Design so schools should teach it!”
You don’t have to go far to find mind numbing ignorance. It’s a proud ignorance that rejects all evidence because Satan is behind it. Or something.
It’s ok by me if they don’t want the vaccine. Feel sorry for their families, though.

I’m not *that* old but I can remember we all lined up IN SCHOOL by home room and got vaccines right there in the gymnasium by visiting nurses from the health department. The school nurse took whomever was allergic out of line, and they lined up at the far side of the gym with the teacher waiting for the rest of us to get our shots. Very few people were not vaccinated max 1 or 2 per class but often none were taken out of line. And when done we all went back to class & continued on learning what ever subject was next. It wasn’t very different than picture day which was also in the gym by class. That would have been mid 1970’s in lower upstate NY. Parents would freak out if it was done that way today. It was still being done that way in Australia well into the 90s. I remember sub teaching and having to take my class to have the polio/tetanus booster they do about age 15/16 - I asked if I could get it too, as I knew it had been a long time since I’d had one. It's still being done like that now in Australia. Not for polio, but whatever other immunisations they get at around 14 or 15. Rubella is one, but there's another. At the school my kids go to at least, there are very few who don't get it.

A college friend facebook friend (owns a gym) is really trying to convince people this is all a hoax, just like a common flu or cold. I have to unfollow her. She is also one that is always posting pictures of "missing kids" without even checking the source. Most of the time the child was found a couple years ago.

If you have time and want to go down a rabbit hole of crazy, check out the "hidden knowledge". Facebook page. It's an open group and....wow. a friend's dad shares from there and it's next level. They had posted a huge missive about Bill gates, vaccine, 5G, and quantum tattoos. 🤪 Against my better judgement I went to find the rabbit hole. There are several groups called Hidden Knowledge on Facebook, but I couldn't find the one you are talking about. A couple of them that looked like they might be full of nut jobs were closed groups though. The others were about pole alignment and black history and ancient mysteries. Can you provide a link please?

I thought I knew how dumb some people were but this pandemic has them coming out in droves. I am actually shocked by the sheep who don't read the news, don't verify what they read and blindly assume that if it is on Facebook it must be true. To be fair, these are people who believe the media is controlling the narrative of this virus (and a lot more).

DH plays golf with a guy who firmly believes that the democrats are behind the virus. If Hillary had won, we wouldn't even have this virus because the whole thing is payback for the election. I asked if he had any theories as to how we got the whole world to go along with us and he said that friend said we planted it in China and it took off from there. The rest of the world are victims of our scheme too. It must be true...he heard it on Hannity. I had no idea we had that much power. DH knows he's nuts but he hates to cut him loose because he's played golf with him for over 20 years. I, OTOH, had no problem unfriending him on Facebook. I never liked him anyway. My mouth has dropped open. Someone who plays golf probably has enough money to do so and can't (or shouldn't be) a total backwoods, uneducated crazy. This is absolutely the craziest theory I have heard. Because seriously, if we are behind the virus, we would have set it on Trump. Yes. College educated. Successful, upper middle class guy. It boggles the mind.

Yeah, it's not just backwoods uneducated types who believe this stuff. I know several people who are middle to upper middle class, educated, have professional careers, sophisticated interests and hobbies, cultured, who believe the conspiracy theories are at least plausible. One really blew my mind. I really look up to this woman and out of nowhere she's parroting the virus is a ruse to control the populace via a microchip in the vaccine conspiracy theory. It's wild how she bought into it so hard. We literally can’t handle the truth.

Because too many don't "belive in science." My parents knew people who'd had polio. Heck, there was a girl in my primary school class who wore a caliper on one leg because of it. Back then, our parents were grateful for a way to protect their children from these things. I remember getting both the shot and the sugar cube, one of my first memories, I guess my parents were taking no chances - they too were grateful for a way to protect their kids.

As far as I know they still do it that way at school when a child is 12/13 years old. Parents sign a consent form and the nurse calls them in one by one to administer it at school.
