In what area of your home do you scrap - double duty in the dining room, half of a home office, a desk in the family room, an extra upstairs bedroom, the loft, a converted closet or armoire in your bedroom, the entire finished basement or bonus room above the garage, etc.?
Does the current location work well for your lifestyle (i.e. chores, spouse, children, pets)?
Is there somewhere else that you prefer or would work better for you?

I have an upstairs extra bedroom for my craft space. I like it, it is quiet and DH has to come all the way up stairs if he decides I need to be disturbed.
I close the door when I am in there that way I cannot see anything that will distract me such as undone housework.

I've tried it all...
in our old house I had a corner of our master bedroom (also where the computer and DH were located) which was fine but I had to put stuff away to go to bed and had a tiny desk (all that would fit) and my stuff was stored in 3 different closets). The kids bedrooms were on the same floor so they could play in their rooms while I scrapped.
We moved and I had an upstairs bedroom to myself which was fine for not making the rest of the house messy but I never go to go up there because it was small and the kids and baby (who we didn't have in the old house) couldn't play in there so I was never able to scrap
Then I moved downstairs to our breakfast nook (which we don't use since we have a dining room), which was good because I could watch the kids while I scrapped but it was literally in the middle of chaos central. Every time I wanted to scrap I had to dig my space out, sweep crumbs off the floor, put toys away and I didn't have any wall space. Being so close to the kitchen I could see my messy counters (not inspiring) while I scrapped.
I just moved (still figuring out how to arrange things) to a corner of the family room. The computer is in here, there is a fireplace and a lot of books, but since I'm in a corner, hopefully, stuff won't automatically be piled on my desk... we'll see, I'm tired of moving spaces!

Extra bedroom upstairs. I also work from home and use that space as my office. But that means that after a day at work I just want to get out of there and I hardly ever spend time there scrapping.

I scrap in my tiny bedroom, so I get the most scrapping done when I have to quickly pick out some photos/paper/embellishments to take to a friend's place 3 hours up north for the weekend. I hate having to clean up when I'm done, it's a pain to pull every thing out and put it back, and it's difficult finding a flat surface if something needs to stay out and dry!

My room is in the basement and I LOVE it, but our basement is somewhat above-ground so I get a lot of natural light. I used to scrap on the dining room table. Pros and cons to that for sure. Pros were that I could scrap ANYTIME because I was always close to the family when the kids were small. Cons were that I had little to no storage space for supplies and I'd have to haul everything out and put it all away when I was done. The ONLY negative about my space is that it's too small... or maybe the problem is that I've just got too much stuff!

Well we live in a apt and its very very small. I have never had my own space but when we moved here I set up my own space off the the kitchen in a walk in utility/pantry type of room. It has lots of shelves and also houses our hot water heater as power box! I'm grateful for it but it had no windows and no power outlets at all. I call it "The Cave". I have nightmares about my hot water heater exploding and my stuff being runined haha.
I do wish I had my space in the livingroom so I can chat with DH or watch DVDs while I work but I'm just happy to have what space I do have right now.

I've tried several locations as well....I prefer the great room so I can be a part of the family and/or watch TV but I had no space for my dining room table and it just looked funny in that space and I also felt like I needed to put everything away all of the time to keep it clean since it was part of the family/entertaining room.
I've used the spare room but didn't like having to put everything away when I had out of town guests or my grand children spend the weekend which is often.
I now use the breakfast room since we never use it....the space is perfect size wise and there is plenty of natural light and a nice size wall that I have plenty of shelfs for storage. The only negative is that I am not a part of the rest of the house...it's kinda tucked away by the back door. Since it's just me and my hubby it's okay most of the time but it would be nice to be able to be in the family room with him in the evenings or Sunday afternoon football. There is no place for me to run cable so I don't have a TV in there. I do watch some TV shows on my laptop that Direct TV lets me watch, but they don't allow all of them be be viewed on the computer. The upswing is I don't have to put everything away whilst in the middle of a project...I am kind of anal about cleaning up in between projects, but while in the middle of one....well, we just won't go there...LOL

Right now, its in a walk-in closet in our master bedroom. It's small but it works! My DH added some nice shelves, my smaller table and and peg board I had in my old room. That room was combined with our home office, but our youngest came along and he needed a room I've also scrapped on our dining room table and used the pantry as my storage. I miss my room since I had a bigger table to scrap and my oldest (my only at the time) could play in there. And my youngest now tries to be in my closet, but its just too crammed for extra people, no matter how small! I also liked being in the center of things when in scrapped at the DR table, but for messes, the room and my walk-in is preferred as they have doors. Every space he had their own pros and cons, I'm just happy I've got a space!

The master walk in closet is my scrap room.
It's big enough for two desks and a chair and multiple rolling storage units with drawers. The built in shelves and rods are perfect for supply organization.
I need a room with a door to keep little hands off my supplies.
I like that it's isolated bc I can play my music and use my loud tools even when the kids are sleeping.

I have a studio that was an extra bedroom/office. It has shutters that open up to the living room below (like a loft), so I can see the tv from my work table. I like because I don't feel isolated from the family, but I have dedicated work space where I can leave projects out.

My scraproom is in our basement, but sometimes I'll grab a basket of supplies and scrap on the living room floor. It just depends on if I want pure silence, or TV as my background noise. I would say both work, but then I don't scrap very often, so maybe neither work. lol

When I started scrapping I got rid of an old refrigerator that was in what could be considered a mud room, next to the laundry room & right off the kitchen. I had a desk & some shelves in what was a probably a 6 x 8 space & more stuff in the corner of the kitchen near the computer. When we moved 8 years ago, an extra bedroom(scraproom) was a requirement and it works well for me.

I have a craft room at the far end of our house, I actually miss scrapping in the living room and having my husband around! I got more done in the chaos than I do sitting back there by myself with the internet lol. However, I dont miss having to pack/clean everything as soon as im done!

My scrap space and where I scrap are not the same, because my scrapspace is uninhabitable. The space is a small bedroom between the master bedroom and another bedroom; it can be used as a small nursery or even a large walk in closet. There is no space to scrap because I have so many supplies they have overrun the space. But I used to scrap there when it was organized.
Now i only scrap at crops.

When I first married I had a room that was away from the rest of the family. It was hard because I felt isolated and couldn't hear what other things were going on. My computer was in the midst of the chaos, so I spent more time hanging out than crafting.
When we bought our current home it had 5 bedrooms, a great room and a separate game room. One of the bedrooms was off the great room away from the other bedrooms and the bathroom. It has an outside door (that is never used) and is right off the room where my family watches TV. It is also right around the corner from my kitchen. I can hear the timer go off, when someone comes to the front door. Actually someone coming to the house is not a problem because I have a 3 German Shepherd alarm system.
I debated and posted on 2 peas where to put my craft room . . . but my mom finally told me, "You will not have guests that often, but you could craft every day!" So I took the room that could have been an isolated guest room used maybe once a month or so. Plus she mentioned I would be less likely to have long term guests if they were on a queen futon in the game room.
I LOVE MY ROOM! I am cleaning and re-organizing right now, so I don't want to share. Someday it will be clean. All my furniture is re purposed, so it's not beautiful so to speak. But it works for me! With all that said my DH has the entire area above a 4 car garage for his magazines and model building. He will go up and spend time with our sons, and sometimes on his own. But when they are watching football or movies for the 4th time I can still be a part, but have time to craft.

in a spare bedroom. I need a dedicated space because I have so much stuff. so....much....stuff. the current location works for me because my windows are high so I can have storage under the windows without obstructing the windows.

Basement. No windows, pretty isolated, and I have carved a 10x8 space in the corner for my desk and supplied. I'm pretty jammed in. But we have such a SMALL house, I'm really lucky to have any space at all!

My scrap space is in the basement. It's a really nice room, with built in cabinetry and desk, plus a moveable center island/table. The only thing it's lacking is natural light. I like that it's in the basement and removed from the chaos of the rest of the house. My children are teenagers, so it's nice to escape to the dungeon.

My scrap area is half of a home office(extra bedroom)--trestle table on one wall and computer armoir on the other side. I also have a nice-size closet for storage. I have quite a big stash but keep things organized in tubs and roller carts. The room has a nice window and good lighting, so I am happy.

I scrap in my coffee table in my living room and keep my supplies organized in some shelves in my dining room. I do have to purge and get rid of more stuff though.

I've taken a corner of my kitchen. The front window, next to the door and the mini fridge (which is right by the real fridge... we're not wild over here). My desk is 6' and I have an Expedit beside me that's another 2.5'. That's it.

I have the second floor sunroom as my office. I use it for scrapping and correcting papers. I love it because there are 3 walls of all windows, so there's lots and lots of natural light. The downside to that is furniture placement is a pain, but I've made it work. It's also very, very quiet. I can't hear anything happening in the house, which is especially good when I'm correcting papers.

My scrap room is a bedroom 2 feet across the hallway from my bedroom. We added a fifth bedroom downstairs so the boys could stay together downstairs. The office is right next to my scrap room. Love having two extra rooms upstairs that cannot be used a guest rooms.

My scraproom is upstairs in a room we almost didn't finish when we built the house. I insisted we finish it with thoughts to use it as another bedroom. It never became a bedroom. I made it a scraproom a few years after we built.
I love it because it has an angled ceiling and it just feels like a special room. I just redid it from the floor up and I'm very happy with it. It is so nice to have a designated room.

In my living room. I like that it's a short distance from the kitchen where I can set up my cricut. I like how everything is together and I have a fun old white cabinet/dresser I use. My son broke one of the doors, so as of now, my not so cute storage containers are what you see when you come in my house. I don't like that part. There is a expedit entertainment center and 2x4 expedit as well.
Ideally, I'd like the cabinet/dresser thing in my bedroom and GIANT built in shelving along that wall (taking advantage of the vaulted ceilings in a small room) with doors to hide scrap stuff and extra pots and pans. My kitchen is small.
