Mine is in my living room and it works fine for me, I"m a single mom with older boys and we don't use the living room much so it's really all mine.

I have my own room. I have a television and a relaxing chair in there for when I just want to watch tv also. I like my alone time.

I use an extra bedroom as my scraproom and home office... It's on the second floor so I don't have to worry about what it looks like, and when it's really messy I can close the door... It's on the west side of the house and has three windows along the west wall... It the morning the light is bright but not direct/glaring, and in the evening it's warm and cozy... There are two huge maple trees on either side of my house (one in front of each of my neighbour's), so it feels like I'm in a treehouse when I'm in there... There's a little nook where two of the windows are and I have a chair and ottoman there... My storage is IKEA cabinets - with doors so I can hide it all, and a dresser that I keep wrapping paper, cards, packing material, and gifts in... I have a small TV in there and my Mac is in there too, so I'll watch a movie on Netflix when I'm on a roll...lol

There is a room at our house that for several years was the guest bedroom, but it wasn't ever being used. I decided to turn it into a sewing and craft room. It works really well for me because I can leave projects in progress out on the work table and not have to worry about the cat getting into it or having it take up space that is needed for everyday life. I can work on things as I have time, and not deal with packing and unpacking.

When we built our house we closed off the open entry and made it my scraproom. I scrapped upstairs for years until we finished our basement. My room is down there now and I love it. Its a disaster right now still trying to organize but its mine!

I'm in an extra upstairs bedroom. But I don't scrap often and I know that part of the reason is because it is isolated from everyone else in the house. I have to keep the door closed so the cats don't come in and mess up my stuff. It's a very pretty painted room and decorated nicely, but it's lonely in there.

I have an open loft space at the top of the stairs (2nd story). It's nice and bright with super good lighting. I can see out the windows to the front of the house, I'm close to the upstaires family room and of course near the staircase. Downside would be that I need to keep it clean since it's so open and it isn't child proof (but my kids are older so that isn't a problem). I actually feel bad that I have such a nice place to scrap when I rarely scrapbook anymore.

I scrap in a room that would be a formal dining room on the front of our house. We have a breakfast nook off the kitchen that we eat in, so I knew when the house was being built that I would take that room. I love it! I have to be in a central location to scrap, and I can see darn near the whole house from here, and can hear everyone's comings and goings. I can see the dogs begging to go out the back door, people coming in the front door, and who is sneaking stuff out of the kitchen! I would never scrap if I had to be completely shut off from everyone else, so this is perfect.

My studio space is the finished basement. The WHOLE basement, except for the utility/storage space (which is mostly filled with my junk too). I work from home so it's my office as well. It's a nice big area with two sides. The one side has two large daylight windows so there is some natural light. This is the side where my desk is located and where I work for the most part. The other side has no windows which makes it nice for storing paper, fabric and anything else that I don't want to fade. I'm in the process of getting some cabinets put in, which means I have about four weeks to move all of the stuff that has been piled up along the walls for the last two years and that won't be fun. But once the cabinets are in, I can get the shelving guy to come back to put up more wall shelves above the cabinets and I can finally get the rest of my stuff unpacked which will be VERY exciting. I can't wait to go through all of my boxes of treasures again! Once the cabinets and shelving are in and stuff is unpacked, I can decorate and put up my huge vintage chalkboard and the wall decals I bought from Blik three years ago before we even closed on the house. That will be fun. I'm almost as excited to get the 20+ boxes of crap that should be downstairs out of my hall closet so it can be converted into a proper mud room. It will feel good to be able to go through everything and finally get rid of all the crap I never had the time or space to go through at our old house before we moved.

In my last apartment, I had a corner of the bedroom. The house we're renting now has several extra rooms, so we have a dedicated office in a room right off the living room. My craft table is right next to my computer desk/printer/Portrait, and I have a huge closet for all my craft stuff! I craft so much more now that my stuff is closer to the 'action' in the house. I've got the desks walled off, so my kids can even be in there with me.

I have an upstairs loft that looks down on our great room. It's perfect! I can interact with my husband while he is downstairs. Sometimes, I watch the same thing upstairs that he's watching and it's just like being together -- except that I'm getting my craft on! We will probably be buying a new home in a year or so and our top criteria is a scrapbook room to equal this one...I'm skeptical; but hopeful.

I was just thinking back to when I would scrapbook on a TV tray table in the family room. Over the years, I've worked my way into the closets in my daughter's room. She lives in Australia now so she doesn't mind. I have shelves in one closet - hope to replace them with whatever Ikea calls an Expedit now (Kallax?) which would leave me enough space to the side for a short closet rod for guests. The other closet is where I stashed a large sewing machine cabinet. I realized it made a nice crafting desk. Most often used tools are on the shelves above. I do have to use a power strip with a long cord to reach the nearest power outlet and my Ott Light is barely enough light. We hope to move in a few years - a room large enough for a home office and my scrapbooking supplies is priority for me!

Ground floor closet.. when we had our house built, it could either be a 1/2 bath or closet, we opted for closet cause we needed storage space... One day it dawned on me, ummm that would make a great scrapbook room.. husband was on board. Had a counter made for it and built it and put a cabinet and shelving up. Right now I have to pack it all up because I am now using it as a work office for awhile. Hopefully I will get some scrapping space again... probably when my DD leaves for the Air Force next year... so longgggggg yet to fast.. lol

My current space is the breakfast bar in our kitchen. I have a large hutch/cabinet nearby so I can easily pull supplies out. This situation works for me for the most part, but I often wish I didn't have to put everything away after each crafting session.

My ranch style house is set up so that we have a finished basement. I have a large laundry room down there and then the rest is an L-shaped space that we use for: the dining room, the computer center (where the boys do all their homework, the family room & the playroom (when they were little).
I scrap at the dining room table. I have taken over a large closet w/sliding doors for all my goodies.
The positives are: 1) the room is large enough that I have another long folding table & large card table right next to the dining room table so I can have 3 friends over and everyone has plenty of space. There's enough room for me to have at least one more person. 2) It's in the basement, so my creative mess is out of sight
The negatives are: 1) if the boys are home, I am sharing the space w/them (they're teens, so can be an issue) or if they have friends over, I am out 2) I have to clear out if I'm entertaining. It's time-consuming, annoying & puts a cramp in my mojo 3) I am outgrowing the closet and since the space is technically my dining room, I'm going to have to be very creative in my storage solution as it's going to be put right next to my china cabinet. 4) It's in the basement, so lighting is a problem.
Being in the same space as the kids was great when they were younger. Now that they're older, I really need my own space. So while this is doable for now, I'd be happier if I had my own room.

I have a basement scrapbook facing the back garden which is perfect for me. I can close the door, put on some music or podcast and have uninterrupted scrappy time.

Thanks for your responses; I enjoy the glimpse into where you create. Like some of you, my devoted space is in an extra bedroom. Since our child's bedroom/bath/playroom, tv/gameroom, & guestroom are also upstairs, my husband, child, & I are always in close proximity during free time. If they are watching a movie or cheering during a soccer game in the tv room, our son is recreating a basketball game - simultaneously as player/referee/announcer/fans - in his playroom, I'm drafting journaling, etc., I simply close the door. Unlike our last home, my craftroom is in an ideal location for me.
Please feel free to add yours!

My scrap space is half of my office which is just a bedroom without a built in robe. I use my computer a lot while scrapping - either for printing my own photos or journaling, or for digi layouts. I have a big couch in there as well which I love. I'm close to the main areas of the house so I can scrap in between cooking or washing and am close enough to smell when the food starts burning if I've gotten a little too involved in what I'm doing. It has a south facing window which is the only drawback as the daylight is limited (I'm in the southern hemisphere) and although I could move to a room with a northern or western aspect it would put me upstairs away from everything.

I've moved my space three times, but i think I'll be staying here. When we bought the house, the owners left a good size bookcase with a built in desk and light. It's five feet wide and my husband wants me to get something similar, but at least 10 inches smaller. I've been looking at craft armoires, home office armoires, and secretary desks (with hutch). I don't love any of them.

When I shared a house I didn't have a craft room so used to work on the dining table. Really hated unpacking and packing away all the time. Now I have my own place and have a small bedroom set up as study/craft space with small computer desk and large tables along one wall for crafting. It's at the back of the house at ground level so not a problem if people come to visit.

I must have seen some imitation version of the scrapbox. The one I saw had cream colored opaque containers, where the scrapbox Has clear containers. The actual scrapbox is perfect. My husband is balking at the price, but I won't find anything better.

Our family room is my scraproom. Sometimes I feel bad having the largest space in our house to myself, but most of the times I don't My dd has a desk in there with me and there is also a sofa and large TV so the family can join me when they want. It does work well for me. I do share the space with the cat. He has a HUGE cat tree, his own pillow in the window, his food and his litter box in there. So I guess maybe it's the cat's room and he's just sharing with me

My scraproom is located downstairs in the basement however it is a walkout/daylight basement, not underground.
My son's are grown and out of the house, so I have no small children to contend with.
Lots of natural light with 3 bay windows and a sliding glass door, and it's big enough to set up my 4 folding tables and have 4 or 5 friends over to crop once a month!

I have all my supplies in a Rubbermaid tub with a lid on it (my albums are in different bins, though) .
I scrap in my dining room.
I dream of having a space all my own one day.

If I scrap at home, I only have one option since we live in a 488 sq ft condo - on the kitchen peninsula, which does not work well if someone wants to cook something:
