Last night the restaurants/bars opened up in Ohio for patio only.
I live in Columbus. One of the bars here had an absolutely packed patio. The photos and videos were unbelievable. They followed none of the rules put in place. It was appalling. It was blowing up my Facebook. Three-quarters of the people on there were as appalled as I am. The other 1/4 of the people were calling us Karens and saying that it was none of our business and didn't affect us. Uh, that is not how contagious diseases work- it very well could affect me.
I am Facebook friends (but not real friends) with someone who runs a bar. Lots of selfies with her and guests. Probably 15 different people. No social distancing. The bar was serving absolutely giant margaritas that had multiple straws in them. Lots of photos of several people drinking the margarita all at the same time.
I'm sure most bars/restaurants were following the rules but just seeing those 2 places makes me think that the second wave is coming sooner than later.
I'm really afraid.

I’m in ohio also. I have been out of the house a total of 5 times since this has started. You can imagine I’m looking forward to getting out on a date with my husband. Saying that, I’d rather drink gasoline and pee on a brush fire than go out in those crowds right now. I can only imagine.

Doesn't seem people take this seriously enough. Guess we shouldn't be surprised, some people follow the rules, some don't.

Same here in Wisconsin. I can’t take it. Really making me think differently about a lot of my friends.

Same here in Wisconsin. I can’t take it. Really making me think differently about a lot of my friends. I live in MN close to the border of WI and have a lake cabin there. For a long time, the numbers in WI were way higher than here, then suddenly MN’s numbers took a huge jump and went higher than WI even though both states were locked down at the time. We are still mostly closed down with bars, restaurants, salons, etc. not able to open back up until June 1 at the earliest. I was appalled seeing the videos on the news of the packed bars in WI and I will not be the least bit surprised when the WI numbers start to surge back up again over the next couple weeks.

I saw pics, the same scenario at the Ocean City, NJ boardwalk the first day it opened. It’s crazy. 🤦🏻♀️

At this point I just simply do not care. The stupidity is so strong in this country right now that we need a good culling of the herd. The only thing that I have control over is myself. I will do as much as I can to keep myself safe.
I feel for the people close to those being foolish as they will eventually be exposed if the are in contact but that is also their choice. If my daughter was out running around in crowded bars I wouldn't be seeing her in person for a very long time. Facetime and texting would be it.
The only thing that one has a modicum of control over in life is yourself. I am not one who wishes to control others so they can all just party on. The only ones I feel bad for are the children of stupid people, they have no choice.

Our biergartens and restaurants can open on Monday (I like this - not just before a weekend!), but only with outdoor seating and with specified distances between tables. DH was in the city yesterday, and saw one of the big beer houses setting out their outdoor seating with a large measuring stick. It has been made very clear here that any rule breaking or any climb in infection numbers, and we go back to 'essentials only' lockdown, so I am hoping people stay sensible. So far, people are being good with masks and distancing in queues, so there is a chance, though there is a protest against the rules happening today, so not everyone is on board.

What does calling us Karens mean?
That's so frustrating. I tried to get Target Walmart Costco and grocery shopping done this week, our last week in the stay at home order. I think it will be much scarier now that we are in the yellow phase. People think that we are now "safe" from the virus since we are opening up. That makes me worry that they aren't being as careful as last month. I went from seeing almost no kids in stores for 6 weeks to entire families the past couple of days. Oh well, we will stay home as much as possible and try to stay safe.

And the coworkers of those people, who have no choice, and all the people they come in contact with on the bus, in a store, etc....who have no clue AND no choice. I completely, 100% agree with you. Natural selection at its worst. I just wish there weren’t going to be so many other people caught up in the collateral damage of these idiots.... ☹️

What does calling us Karens mean? Karen is a slang term for an entitled, irritable middle-aged white woman. Basically. Any woman who thinks people should do it their way and any other way is wrong.

South Korea opened nightclubs and I read this morning that there are 162 new cases linked to one nightclub alone. So time will tell for sure

I’m in Columbus also. I had to go pack my classroom yesterday and my teammates were asking if I wanted to go to a patio for a drink when we were finished! I had tried to make it very clear that I was social distancing and made a point to request all be sure to wear masks when we had to be in the same space, We’re required to wear masks in the building, but not everyone is taking it seriously. I am hopeful that at least my teammates will get an earful from someone else. As it stands, I’m DREADING going back to school for the reminder of packing up and distributing stuff.
It’s a really uncomfortable position to be the only one in a close knit group where the rest are not taking it seriously. I wasn’t anticipating that feeling or how upset I would be as a result. I am really hope Governor DeWine makes some very pointed statements on Monday, but after giving the green light for places to open, I don’t know how that will play out.

So time will tell for sure One of the biggest problem they are facing there with this nightclub outbreak is that it was a gay venue, and there is still a big stigma there about homosexuality. It is making contact tracing - which is what they did so well with their first outbreak - much harder.

I did read an article where LGBTQ in general are facing some stigma and bias related to Covid. People suck.

We've had some easing in England, garden centres and parks are open, we are permitted to go out and exercise as much as we want or just sit in the sun somewhere as long as we still keeps our distances. I'm pretty certain people will take liberties and numbers will be climbing again in a week or two

I live in a very conservative little pocket of Southern California. Our county supervisors voted not to enforce Newsom's directives.
We have people acting like eating at The Original Pancake House somehow makes them soldiers for the revolution. Getting your nails done is an act of civil disobedience instead of an act of vanity.
It is sickening and embarrassing to watch these idiots confound consumerism and patriotism. "Let me have fried foods and acrylic nails or give me death!" Quite a stirring battle cry.
I really have very little faith or hope left.

I'm pretty tired of people using my name in this way. I don't act like that I don't want people associating me with it. I have always liked my name but I don't like the way people are using it.

My older daughter is named Karen and I had no idea! Like, so THAT'S why there are so many Karen memes, eh? Karene , I have put several of these Karen memes on her facebook (if they're good ones). I mean, she doesn't care but she is also SO not a "Karen." I put a couple Covid Karen memes on her FB that I stole from our 2Peas meme thread and got tons of hits and she's been such a good sport and WHO KNEW? OMG. And I have lamented the fact that there are no memes with [other daughter's name] in them to spread the laughs around. It's still not gonna stop me, lol. Heck I still reply "WTF honey!" on occasion when she posts or texts good news. As in, "Well That's Fine honey," her friends probably think I have early onset dementia. Maybe I do. Somebody stop me Layce

We're in Cleveland, and the pictures and videos I have seen of some of the local bars downtown and in one of the popular suburbs have me scared and angry.
Packed not only on the patios, but also INSIDE. No face masks, no social distancing whatsoever.
We're fucked.
People think it's business as usual, as if the virus had never happened and doesn't exist.

Jesus Christ. This is why we will not be going back to school in the fall. Because assholes can’t stand to be away from people and go absolutely bonkers when they are finally with people again. And the virus is going to run rampant again. Drinks with multiple straws??? Might as just be french kissing everyone in the bar.
I would never set foot in either of those places again.

I'm in Cincinnati and here at least one street has been shut down to add outside dining and everyone was doing social distancing. The video I saw was taken earlier in the day so I wonder how it worked later in the evening.

I would never set foot in either of those places again. Well, I wouldn't share multiple straw drinks with people I weren't already french kissing to begin with. Our state went yellow today. They appear to be doing well with testing and there haven't been a lot of positive cases, and deaths are below 100. But I think that is in large part due to the social distancing that went into place in March. We'll see what June looks like I guess. I'd love for it to work, but so many people here are acting like it was all a big hoax and we stayed home and destroyed the economy for nothing. Which, unfortunately, isn't something that can be proven one way or the other. We did what we did and have the outcome that we do. We cant possibly know what any other set of circumstances would have produced for our population. I wish this was a concept that everyone understood.
