If so, how are you conducting your transactions safely?

Not selling, yet. But we sat a bunch of stuff at the road and it was gone with 15 minutes! I do have things I want to sell but I'm going to wait a bit.

Yep.
Selling on FB with porch pick up like I always do. Easy peasy. Made a couple of hundred dollars last week without leaving the house.

Porch pickup or mailing items out after PayPal and other pay apps. We even bought a desk via driveway pickup last weekend. The seller moved it out front so all we had to do was back in and load it up. The Facebook buy/sell pages in our area are getting a lot of listings. People miss garage sales. lol

I have sold purses and clothes and shoes. I take the clothes to the second hand store when it’s open and she writes me a cheque a few times a year. She calls me her Lulu girl and all the staff call me that now. I bring in a lot and get special treatment but then again I fill her store so there’s that.

I’m waiting. Some stuff that I would normally sell (kid’s clothes) I’m probably just going to donate just to get rid of it fast once that’s an option again. Some of the outgrown toys will be passed down to younger cousins. My friend and I have a ton of scrapbook stuff and rubber stamps from her house, my house and her mom’s that we need to unload but we’re waiting until our friends can do their big craft rummage sales again. It’s just way too much stuff to try to list and sell online.

No. It gets donated or trashed. Selling in my area is a huge hassle that I am unwilling to undertake.
We live too rural for putting things out by the road. Also makes porch pickup a no. From my friend’s experience with sales, it is common to end up driving 35 to 40 minutes to the nearest “city” to meet up with someone who may or may not show up. She puts out more in the cost of fuel than she actually makes from sales.

Selling on Facebook using porch pickups. Haven't had a problem yet.

I haven't been able to do much cleaning or purging of any kind. I'm throwing most of it away.

If you were selling something, they buy had to come to our area. Now it's full of real estate ads and people from a much larger area selling their stuff and you have to meet them. It's not worth the hassle for me either. If I had anything of value, I'd have better luck on ebay.

I wish. Between the for sale forums moving so fast your item gets buried in minutes and the fact everyone wants stuff for free, or the people who ask if it's still available, then seem to drop off the face of the planet afterwards, it's very hard to sell anything. And also the scam guy wanting to send me "extra" money to use to pay his movers, I get that a lot for furniture pieces.
I've had stuff I've been trying to sell for months. I relist it to keep it closer to the top, but it's hard going. It isn't in my way, so I'm not overly anxious about not selling it. But it would be nice to move on.

We sold a ping pong table this week. Took cash. My husband even drove it to the guy's house less than a mile away. He really wanted to get it out of our garage.

How are you safely handling payment these days?

My husband has sold a couple of things, he used Venmo for payment and left the item on our front porch. I’ve just been piling things up for donation, nothing I’m getting rid of is worth the hassle of listing and selling.

At this point, it is all getting donated. I just don't want to deal with the hassle. The nice kid stuff I am saving in case my sister ever has kids. Everything else is getting donated. Our babysitter's old church does a lot of immigrant outreach and has a "store" that families can shop at. She has come by twice and loaded her car to the top with boxes. I am just so ready for stuff to be gone.

I have some old band tees on Ebay and I plan to put a hoodie on there soon... probably should have done that when the weather was cooler but I know someone will snatch it up so I'm not too worried.
I have other things that will be donated once the thrift shops are open again, things like sweaters that either don't fit right anymore or that I know I'm not going to wear, shorts that I have unfortunately outgrown (and the quarantine snacks aren't helping), shoes that are in good shape but I won't wear, CDs, some books, etc. The thrift shop closest to our house is run by lovely people and we've given them a ton of stuff over the years, especially as family members have passed on. Anything that was unclaimed by other family was donated if it was in good condition. I definitely need to go through more books and my craft supplies to see what I can toss. I'm thinking about selling some crafty stuff if I can, otherwise I'll try to donate it to the community center behind my house.

No. I've been putting stuff up on my neighborhood listserve, saying it's on my porch or front walk. Then I sit out front in my chair reading and when people come by I get to chat with them.

I'm at the point, I don't care if I can make some money off of an item, I just want it gone. I've gotten my use/value out of it. I put it on the curb and it's gone before you know it. I'm conflicted about my bike. I know I'm not going to ride it because I don't have a riding partner and I'm not interested riding with people I don't know. But it's a damn nice bike. I think I'll ask everyone I know first. I'd rather it went to a friend for free.

Facebook Marketplace and porch pick up with e-transfer for a few items. My son and I are cleaning out the basement. We have so many outgrown toys and stuff we never use down there. Quarantine seems a good time to get it cleaned up. We have sold some items. Some I have just listed on Kijiji free stuff and given away. Yesterday I gave away 4 giant pails of aquarium rocks. Like 5 gallon pails full. I did not need them anymore and they will be great for someone who wants to make fairy houses. I have no idea why I kept them for 10 years after we got rid of the aquarium. I guess they were just too heavy to haul upstairs to get rid of.

Sadly we’re just trashing most things. Pretty sure we’ve had the Covid in the house and just don’t want to risk exposing others. And have the financial blessing to not be in desperate circumstances.

We aren't selling but did buy an item. The item was left on the porch and we left an envelope with the money. Then we text to let them know the money was there. We have no contact. I've also given things away. I put it on the porch and the person picks it up. Anything we bring into the house from other people is put into another room to sit for 3 weeks.
