Who has used a service to convert your VHS movies to another form? Did the service edit out sections of the tape that were gaps or useless tape? Did they combine tapes? If so, we're you able to put them in order? Were you happy with the quality? What formats did they offer? Did you feel safe handing over your tapes to them? Cost ?Thanks for indulging me in so many questions about the process.

to get them edited, you might be best finding someone local. I have had movies done.. and they don't edit. they just reproduce it.

We did our own because of course I had bits and pieces on all different tapes. It was a disorganized mess!
We just searched amazon, read review and purchased. It's just a software cd to download to your computer and cords to attach a vcr to the computer. We only paid 20-30 for it. It worked well and was pretty easy to do. We loaded things to it in the order we wanted then copied them to dvd...which we'll likely backup to something else also.

Do you remember the name of the software? Sounds like something I can do during this time. Also, did the files take up a lot of storage on your computer?
Thanks!

I used a service about five years ago (it was actually for my inlaws).. you bought an empty box (depending on size) and they mail it to you. You fill the box and send it back. I can't remember the name though.. it was easy to do and it was pretty much in some kind of decent order. I think I used a Groupon or something to make it cheaper. I think something like eight tapes for $100 or 12 tapes??

I had vhs home movies converted to digital files. I used a place in town who does the work in their shop. It was based on the number of hours of footage...I think I paid around $100 for a couple hours plus of video. For me, it was well worth it since it was video of when my ds was a baby and toddler (along with other family memories).
