Posting this early for AussieMeg, Chinagirl828, and everyone else on the west side of the International Date Line. I have TWO choices for this week, both from the Sketchabilities Blog. Don't know which one I will be using, yet, to create my May calendar page, which I hope to be doing this Saturday. I challenge you to use one, both, or a combination of the two for your Saturday scrapping pleasure! Both sketches would work really well with a spring or Mothers' Day theme. But really if you switched the type of flowers, (or switched to fall foliage or snowflakes or...) they would each work for any season. This first one has lots of white space, and some overlapped square/rectangular frames/matts. Sketchy Saturday 23-05-20 squares by Gramma Dee, on Flickr The second one has lots of layered strips--paper scraps, anyone?--and CIRCLES. Thanks for tagging me and for posting early. I haven't played along much lately but I really love that first sketch.

Here's my take on the first one. I'm going to add some journaling below the title once I work out what I want to say.

Here is my page using the first sketch. This will be the May page in next years' calendar. I am not good with artsy corner and/or edge treatments, but this 49th & Market pp did that for me. May 2021 by Gramma Dee, on Flickr

Here is my tribute to the bumblebees. The photo is from our Rail to Trail bike ride on Sunday.

What a pretty take on the sketch, jjpeapea! Love that background colour, and how it highlights the black tags and the green in the photo. Beautiful! Thanks for playing!

I finally got this one finished! I had the template done the day you posted this grammadee , then it took me over a week to chose the photos then try to make it not look like a bubble bath layout I would have done back in 1998.

Love your subtle take on the circles, AussieMeg. Here is my take on the second sketch. Started it last week but never got back to it until today when I was clearing off my scrap counter. I chose not to cut my photo in a circle, but backed it with a circular mat. Spring 2020 cover page by Gramma Dee, on Flickr

jjpeapea this is so pretty, I love the monochrome colour scheme and the little pops of black. AussieMeg the circle design is so perfect for those photos. The little details really make this: the bubbles, and that pattern on the far left that looks like little water splashes. grammadee so lovely to see you on a page! The colour and patterns are gorgeous together and I love those pearl swirls.

jjpeapea this is so pretty, I love the monochrome colour scheme and the little pops of black. I was very inspired by your lovely, lovely pink wash page - I got totally fixated on a light background.

jjpeapea, that is a perfect title for your bee tribute. I love the thread, it reminds me of the wonky flight a bee takes. AussieMeg, I'll leave you some love in the gallery. But those photos had me cracking up with all of those bubbles. Adorable. grammadee, you have such a lovely smile. I'll leave you some love in the gallery for your page.

What a gorgeous page, KikiPea! Cool title (or is it a sub title in the circle?)! The leaf clusters are beautiful. Did you doodle those swirls? Love how you changed the whole look of the sketch by using the pp as a background, yet the page design is obviously inspired by the sketch.
