Mayo or Miracle Whip? Has anyone said that? Raisins: allowed in cookies or abominations?

Cold pasties: Ketchup or butter, salt, pepper. Hot pasties: gravy or ketchup. If you say ketchup you are wrong. If you use ketchup, I will never make pasties for you again. I do swear that you would adore my ketchup lovin' kid, so if ketchup on pasties is wrong please don't make him any. 😀 This brat only stopped putting ketchup on salmon last year at 18, and no one understands why it's not really fun to cook for him.

Pasties are a thing in the northern parts of Michigan. Especially in the UP. They like a calzone filled with meat. And there’s some sauce involved. Sort of. I’m not a real Michigander, my husband is. 🤣. I didn’t know about them until I met him and he and his family of Yoopers gave me one. I'm on the west coast. I only knew pasties as what strippers or men's club women wear. And please don't put ketchup on those pasties. 😁

Mayo or Miracle Whip? Has anyone said that? Raisins: allowed in cookies or abominations? I was coming to say it! We just had the first fresh BLTs of the season and this is a huge divide between dh and me. I think Miracle Whip is a travesty and would rather eat a sandwich dry than use it. Of course, I am right.

I think your son would have starved at my house, since condiments rarely get put on the table or used.

I’m pretty sure that they take expired mayo that has gone bad, slap a new label on it, and tell you it’s got a “tangy zip” to explain the off taste.

Cool whip or whipped cream? chemicals or the real deal? No contest that the whipped cream (not in a can), the real thing that you whip up yourself is the only option.

I swore that nonsense wasn't going to go on in our house, but Dh was way permissive with ketchup. Then when Ds was 4 he went into a lengthy explanation with a waitress in Germany about ketchup really just being a fruit smoothie and I gave up. Then began the non stop struggle to find ketchup without high fructose corn syrup. The grocery would stock it. I'd buy a ton and then the next time I went to buy more they no longer carried it. Fortunately as he got older it got easier to find.

Waitresses don’t believe us - never have - when we tell them that they don’t need to bring ketchup to the table. They usually do anyhow. Dh and I eat ketchup appropriately- on fries 🍟- so the kids have definitely been exposed to it, and I offered it to them when they were toddlers and young, but neither of them would touch the stuff. Your son would be horrified by us. LOL!

My parents had zero tolerance for my miracle whip love. I used to ask for a jar of it for my birthday. And even as an adult I will still secretly make miracle whip sandwiches. Dh doesn't even like the mayo to be stored next to the miracle whip in the fridge and has said that he is glad he fell head over heels for me before he found out about the miracle whip. elaine please be sure your dh knows I have his back.

On Youtube there is a channel called 'Wrong & Wronger.' They have a bunch of great topics for exactly these kinds of debates. They do a debate a week on topic like the ones listed.
