The middle school boys at my school definitely wear socks with those Nike slides. It is extremely common.
As far as hot dogs, I want a coney dog with coney sauce, mustard, ketchup, and onions. Or a plain hot dog with ketchup, mustard, and relish. Or my favorite: Chicago style hot dogs. Mustard, sweet relish, onions, banana peppers, tomato slices, dill pickle. The best.
My contribution: Decorative towels- yes or no? That was one of my favorite pea threads ever. Decorative towels that you can't use are stupid and I'll fight you over it.

Ah, okay, slides not true sandals...... ever so slightly more acceptable. I guess. You wear slides in your hair. Those are flip flops.

Slides Flip flops Sandals (pretty much all other summery/strappy footwear) Mules and clogs are pretty much interchangeable in terminology as for it being closed at the toe and open halfway to the heel On the mule/clog spectrum, clogs tend to have a bigger chunky heel. Makes more resemble this look, and historically bedroom wear.

Actually, I see more kids, teens, boys wearing socks with sandals than I do the elderly! WHAT?! Are they doing it for a laugh? My teenage son would rather wear a princess costume in public than socks with sandals. Mind you, he would never wear sandals in the first place. I really really need to know what kind of sandals and socks teenage boys are wearing in your neck of the woods. Oh no! It’s a thing!!! A real, wear it outside, even on the hottest days in summer thing! Lol This is more common that no socks!

Cold pasties: Ketchup or butter, salt, pepper. Hot pasties: gravy or ketchup. If you say ketchup you are wrong. If you use ketchup, I will never make pasties for you again. You certainly have some very set ideas on food, I love your passion! Pasties are a very common food here and in the UK. I am only speaking for Aussie Peas here, but (1) who eats cold pasties? ugh, and (2) tomato sauce / ketchup is the ONLY acceptable condiment for pasties. Bite me! Curious to know the thoughts of UK Peas..... gar @dottyscrapper gillyp RedSquirrelUK lainey lesley wellway jennyap muggins BarbaraUK Another UK pea and it’s nopety nope to cold pasties 🤢🥴 and I don’t use ketchup on any food - bite me 😁

I take it back, sandals and socks are perfectly acceptable compared to those mule/clog monstrosities *shudders* Flip flops are anything that flips and flops when you walk.

Slides and flip flops are not the same thing. I see papercrafter has an OSU picture so I'm assuming she lives in Ohio. Me too- so maybe it is an Ohio thing?
I buy Nike flip flops every year and they say "thong" on the box, which is what we called them when I was little, before the panties became a thing.

Pasties aren’t right out of the frig cold, more like lunch box cold And yes a little butter, salt and pepper is very good.
Another topic. Is it a butte pastie if it not made with beef, potato, onion? Most of the people I know say no. My husband said anything else is just a had held pot pie. He didn’t like the breakfast pasty.

Hotdogs have ketchup, mustard, and if one wishes to be decadent and treat oneself, cheese. They do not have onions, grilled ow otherwise. Why? Glad you asked. Because onions should not e it's. They are an abomination. They are the Devil's vegetable, we cannot allow a beautiful food of the Gods such as a hot dog or hamburger or a devilled egg, potato salad, or an egg sandwich to have their flavour profile corrupted by these evil things masquerading as food. Right you are. Those Damn things ruined my childhood food memories.

And some adult memories, if we're honest. It was killing me I had to fix my typos; they ruined a great rant.

If you order "sliders" in a restaurant you'll get a plate with several small ones... it's kind of like an appetizer thing, or a happy hour food.

You wear slides in your hair. Those are flip flops. Flip flops are the summer sandals that have the “thong” between your big toe and 2nd toe! Hence why they are called THONGS instead of flip flops in Australia. And yes, I know that a thong is a g-string there. Both styles are flip flops in my circles. And I would rather be seen in a princess outfit than them. There is a definite distinction here between the two. My son only wears slides, he can't stand the feel of thongs (flip flops). DSO tried on a pair of slides last summer and exclaimed "I don't know how you people can wear these things!" He is most definitely a thongs man. I alternate between the two, and I also - in true bogan style - have my "good" thongs for wearing out to the shops, maybe even a cafe, and my 'casual' thongs to wear to the beach. Another UK pea and it’s nopety nope to cold pasties 🤢🥴 and I don’t use ketchup on any food - bite me 😁 Hee hee hee! Sorry I didn't tag you Jo, I'm not quite used to your new name yet.

What is a pastie? It may be a regional term. I live in Canada. Pasties are a thing in the northern parts of Michigan. Especially in the UP. They like a calzone filled with meat. And there’s some sauce involved. Sort of. I’m not a real Michigander, my husband is. 🤣. I didn’t know about them until I met him and he and his family of Yoopers gave me one. Pasties have been eaten in the U.K. since at least the 1200s. They are particularly associated with Cornwall. They were brought to other parts of the world by migrating Cornish tin miners in the 19th century:)

A slider here is a small hamburger or little mini bun with a burger or chicken or pulled pork.
Like a baby version of the regular size.

Toilet paper--do you use a wad to wipe with or wrap/fold it neatly? I've discovered I have very strong feelings about this...

I can't say I've had a lot of Cornish pasties so I have no hard and fast rules about how to eat them but the nearest pasty shop serves them hot. They are very filling.

Just thought I'd mention that this is the kind of thread I love! All the regional differences in how we say things, what we call them, and how we eat various foods. It's all interesting to me. And just fyi to you all calling those "slide" things "flip flops"....they're not. Flip flops have the piece between your toes. Also those are not called "thongs". And one does not wear "slides" in one's hair...those are called "barrettes" or "hair clips".
