9 am here. The kids are at school, the sun is shining (after three days of really nasty weather) and I'm trying to decide if I should go for a walk now or hem a dress I'm currently making. But first I'm going to check the news, there is a flood in another part of the country (several homes have been lost, apparently it's the worst flood in that area for 200 years) and for a week the entire country has been waiting for a large rockslide to happen. The question is if it will be a large rockslide (100 000 cubic meters) or a giant rockslide (12 000 000 cubic meters), either way, homes will be lost.

Having a second cup of tea and putting off the morning chores before going to get ready to go and help a friend in her newly opened shop for a few hours.

9.00am here on a sunny Autumnal morning, after a night of heavy rain. Having coffee and deciding whether I should pop out to the shops now or wait until later. miominmio sounds as though the weather has been causing real problems for parts of your country and it must be awful for the people living where the rockslide is anticipated!

My son had major back surgery yesterday. I went to bed last night exhausted, fell into the sleep of the dead, and woke up at 5 am (EST) wide awake thinking about him. Now, here I am, coffee cup in hand and worrying about his pain level.

Now, here I am, coffee cup in hand and worrying about his pain level. I had back surgery 10 years ago and the pain from the surgery was nothing in comparison from the pain I had before surgery. Most of the discomfort was from the incision. Hope the same is true for your son.

I will do duah (supplication) that this surgery ends your son's suffering and that he can go about his daily life without pain anymore. Modern medicine can work miracles.

You have just reminded me that I need to phone about scheduling a car service - and they have been saying it's time to get Winter tyres sorted....that's unusual for the UK, so I'm wondering if they know something nobody else does about what is to come with our Winter weather!

It's evening her in Tokyo. Had a very busy day - silver clay jewelry class this morning, tidying and organizing the house this afternoon while DS had 2 kids over for a playdate (half day of school), then travelled to the other side of the city to buy a skateboard for DS (sort of like Craigslist). Back home now and thinking about doing some sewing. Or maybe watching an episode of The Walking Dead on Netflix.
@peasapie I hope your son makes a speedy recovery. Back pain can be excruciating.

I'm still experiencing vertigo but not as bad. I've gone in for even more tests and had an ENG done. The doctor says it's BPPV and it'll go away on its own eventually. Right now I'm crossing my fingers it doesn't get worse. I may get it checked out again when I go to the U.S. in the summer. I don't know. It's a pain but it could be worse.

This is the first time I'm experiencing the winter tire thing! I can't imagine how the winter will be. I spent the last 3 years in India where it was warm all year round

ExpatBackHome Oh gosh, that move must have meant major changes for you, including climate! I guess you must have had to stock up fast on sweaters and now be thinking of snow boots!

7am in Alberta and I'm drinking my latte. My 22y son with autism has recently been diagnosed with psychosis. He wakes up yelling and hitting the wall around 6:30 because his medication has worn off. His bedroom is next to mine so when he wakes I wake.

It's more than time for my lunch and I must do something about getting dinner organised....or at least think about doing that!

He has only been on his medication a month so things are still really unstable. I think his psychosis has to do with my dad's death in May. We had to stop watching the news because the Ottawa terrorist shooting sent him spiralling.

Two weeks ago I bought a few winter outfits but still need a heavy winter coat, warm boots, scarf, hat etc. I'm pretty much starting from scratch!

I picked up some winter boots at walmart. They are warm, great tread, and go up high on your ankle. I payed about 25.00 for them
