SSBE just announced a stay at home Facebook event this Saturday. Obviously we can't pre-purchase kits to play along, but hopefully some vendors will have great deals. Join the Facebook Group here

Interesting....I realize it's probably quicker and easier to do thru FB, but wish they would come up with another option for those of us that do not wish to have a FB account. Like hosted, separately on their own site would be nice. Maybe if they continue down this path they will have an option.
I will check back to see your review of how it went!

I don't have a FB account and have absolutely no plans to get one, so I'll also be left out of online experiences like this unless SSBE comes up with more options.

I have a Facebook account just for our church service and Candy Crush. I have it completely private. My only "friend" is our church.
I hate that I have to join for things like this. In fact, I won't. I pass.

I am a touchy-feely kind of person. Between adjectives and substitutions I have become very leery of on-line sales.

Thank you for posting this!
I totally understand those who want a different option, but the Great Lakes virtual show was done through Facebook, and I liked how it was done. I am going to see how this virtual show goes.
I wonder if they are doing it via Facebook to avoid having to charge participants.
Or if they are just basically copying how Great Lakes Scrapbook Events handled theirs on such short notice.
SSBE is reportedly a one person operation at the moment. The Great Lakes event had a helper when it came to doing drawings (who used a computer and a random selection program off camera to determine what name belonged to the number drawn). Other than that, it looked like it was run just by the one gal.
The vendors for the Great Lakes event had their own virtual demo and sales specials. You shopped at their site. I shop directly from Queen and Company at their site from time to time, so I was completely comfortable shopping from their site as part of the event. And I loved that they did 20% off my order! I have had no problems with my card being compromised so far. However, I won’t shop online with my bank card, no matter who it is. I have a credit card for online shopping.

I have a Facebook account to only connect to crafty sites. I use another name and a separate gmail address from any other email I have. I fought it off for so long but it works for just that purpose. Most of the vendors I already shop with and for those new ones I found through the other virtual events, I've had no problem. Plus I like that I am helping out the little guy/gal and not the big box stores.

Just a quick comment:
It’s free, and the vendors are offering sales. Some of them are showing products in their videos, and others are doing demos.
Scrappers are cropping while they watch, so in that sense, it’s kind of like the virtual crops here, but you can see demos and buy from the vendors with a discount.
No, it’s not the same as attending convention in person, but for those still stuck at home, it’s an option.

I haven’t bought anything the shipping when I’ve tried has been prohibitive. Like $28 shipping on $26 of product.
Can’t do it. Sorry.
Trying to shop has been awkward and Confusing, everyone’s code is different which adds to the confusion. Shopping is pretty useless due to the shipping costs.
This is their first online one. I thought it went great, since it was free, how could I complain. I enjoyed the demonstrations. I learned of companies I’d never heard of before. I’m sure as they do this more often they’ll get a handle on the confusion.
But the shipping! No, just can’t. There is no way that is a valid shipping charge.

I also enjoyed the online Expo. I liked seeing all the different companies demo their products. I didn't buy anything. There were minor problems but overall I think it went pretty smoothly for their first time.

I didn't watch a lot - the last thing I need is more stuff. But I did enjoy the one demo that I watched. So much better than the in person classes. I was able to see what was being done and hear what was being said. And if I missed something I can re-watch.
I'll do it again if they have another one.

I didn’t actually buy anything, but I am assuming that some companies offer free shipping if you buy more than a certain amount. Most online companes do, so I usually wait till I have enough to meet that minimum. There were a couple of companies that I want to keep in mind for future shopping, but I have spent too much money on craft items in the last couple of months, so I probably won’t be placing orders right away.
I enjoyed the demos, especially the watercolor demo by Art Impressions. I may have to save my money for watercolor markers now.
