This year has just be insane, can we skip the rest of the year? Has to be impossible to keep getting worse right?

Just to add, two family members are dying from cancer and it is unlikely they will see 2021.
The only thing that will save this year is Biden , Senate, and House win for Dems.

I’m, typically, not one to wish away time. But I will make the exception for 2020.

Nah, it might be bad, it's certainly different to be living like this but I'm not going to wish away a minute. I am enjoying the memes though

Yes, I agree.
There has been no good. Just hard, and harder.

I considered if this is the worst year ever but my 2000 was pretty crappy so this has a way to go to beat that (sold a house, moved, dad died, had our son (good part) and my now ex left us for the first time all within the year of 2000. Good times.

It has been a horrible year. DH is in the hospital again. He is having complications from his surgery in April.

It can get worse. Much worse.
The pandemic goes for round 2, and it is more severe than round 1. Way too many people refuse to follow isolation rules and there are states that pretend it isn't happening, so they don't have strict isolation rules. Twitler wins the election. OR, Twitler loses, but refuses to yield the presidency. Wouldn't surprise me one bit. We don't swing both houses to a Democratic majority The worst predictions for hurricanes come true, and Florida gets hit by about 8 (I know, you hate Florida, but I live in Tampa for my health, and there's talk we'll even get hit hard HERE, which is rare). The Carolinas and Georgia will be devastated too. And possibly even New England. Earthquakes and/or volcanic eruptions Many stores, both large and small, go out of business We begin to see a lack of certain items; rationing becomes necessary
I could go on. Let me be clear: I hate 2020 with the passion of a thousand burning suns. But I am a pessimistic realist, so I know things can ALWAYS get worse. I hope NONE of these things happen. I just don't want to live through a year more awful than 2020 has been so far.

I considered if this is the worst year ever but my 2000 was pretty crappy so this has a way to go to beat that 2012 was that year for me. So much loss that year, that the death (in different years) of both my parents doesn't even come close. I've seen worse, and have no desire to revisit it. But I'm lucky in that we're both employed, healthy and able to WFH. Which is what I keep telling myself as I was supposed to be on a plane to Florida tomorrow and am feeling bitter about it.

I’m not typically one to say “this year has sucked” or to think that a situation will change when there is a new year. But right now I am hoping that we can do just that and that 2020 is over with no more issues.

Remember 2016 when a handful of famous people died in the first few months and there were endless posts about being done with that year and wanting to get it over with? Careful what you wish for...
I'd LOVE to go back to the start of 2016 where the worst thing to happen in the world was Prince and Bowie dying...and when the USA was still a benevolent super power with a real leader at the helm.

I was seriously excited about the 2020 start of the next decade. We as a family had lots of things planned be it moving and travel and surgeries and starting a new life.
How did I become terrified to go to the mall to buy shampoo because I have to stay extra healthy so I don’t pass anything onto my dad?
How did this decade start so badly? Are we doomed as a species?

That's a positive way to look at it. I'm thankful that we are both employed as well, that ex is still working and DD got called back recently. I am on reduced hours but being that we open for dining on Friday, I anticipate getting more hours.

Horrible year...dad died on Jan 9, my great nephew died at birth on 4/11 (my nephew and his wife's first baby), and fucking virus. We should be holding this baby, experiencing some joy in our lives after my dad was so sick for 3 months, but nope...stolen joy.

I am also not one to wish away time, but damn, 2020 has been harsh. I lost a friend over the weekend, he was a triathlete, died in his sleep at age 50. We are in the process of having my mother declared incompetent due to Alzheimer’s. And my work is about to open back up to the public and we are NOT ready. I’d like to go to sleep and wake up in 2021. 😢
Stay well, Peas. Hopefully the world will stop burning soon.
