Living in Europe opened my eyes to racism there. In Austria it was the Roma. In Germany, it was the Turks. Italy struggles with internal biases and prejudice against those from the southern parts of the country, and consider them as different people. It doesn’t help that ethnically the south was invaded by non-Europeans, which is held against them.
Even in my favorite place, Ireland, there is disdain for the Traveler community. Hostility there leads to occasional friction.

I live in the middle east and the racism is bad here. Different than in the USA but very ingrained about certain races and religions. My kids are minorities here (we are caucasian) so that has been interesting for them but they are mostly treated well. People from the Philippines, India and Bangladesh suffer from the worst of the racism here. What country? I have to say in Morocco, I have found that I am typically treated BETTER than actual Moroccans. They are far more interested in Western culture. Now, military Americans...there IS some bias because they feel distrustful as to what they are doing here? Edited to add: I am not saying that ALL of Morocco loves Westerners. Not saying that at all. But this is not the first time I have heard how scary the Middle East is for whites.

I think every where in the world there is racism and prejudice.

Yeah, if there is a place free of dislike/distrust for the “other,” I’d sure like to find it. And move there.

I had a heated 'discussion' with two older women a few weeks ago about their disgusting abuse of a Romanian woman and her baby.

My first response would be to say that No we do not have race issues in Canada like they do in the US. But, as a white woman I easily recognize that I may be delusional and completely wrong about that because I haven't experienced it myself. Racism is very alive in my part of Canada. Tends to be shown towards the Seasonal Migrant Workers who work on the farms in Niagara. There are some indigenous peoples as there are some "reservations" where most of them live. Prime Minister Trudeau is speaking about this right now, on his daily appearance in Ottawa. Check the national news today to see what he said.
