I have really been struggling with my at home kickboxing workouts. The studio I have been a member of for 5 years just send out their re-opening plan and the class size is going to be cut so low I will never be able to get into my class times. Normally there is a max of 22 people and at 5:15 or 6:15 am, the class maxes out. Now they are only going to allow 6.
So, after reading all of the Peloton threads here, I bit the bullet and ordered one. It's not coming until July 2nd, so I have time to continue working on my basement gym for me and ds. My only question is shoes. I have kind of a wide foot and most of the cycling shoes I have found online have comments about how narrow they are. Any suggestions?

Welcome to the ‘club’! The official peloton shoes are notorious narrow. I don’t have them but DH does. He doesn’t have a problem with them but many people do. I have wide feet and I bought Tommaso shoes from Amazon. They fit great. Tommaso Pista Women's Spin Class Ready Cycling Shoe Bundle with Compatible Cleat, Look Delta, SPD - Black, Blue, Pink, White www.amazon.com/dp/B076T7BS35/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_api_i_-Fp1EbV50NDCMWhen buying non peloton brand shoes just be sure they have the delta cleats so they are compatible with the pedals. Regular spin shoes won’t work.

I can't wait to hear how you like it. My husband doesn't want to rejoin our gym when it opens (it is a very crowded YMCA). I might just join myself or join another gym. I work from home and need to get out, but I have been intrigued by the Peleton. I think this week I will try their 30 day free app.

Welcome to the club! I'd recommend you going to your local bike shop and trying on different pairs. If you don't want to switch out your pedals, you will most likely need to get a road shoe - it will need to have 3 holes on the bottom or else you won't be able to put your delta cleat on it. As far as shoes, I have a pair of SIDIs, but those are $$$$. However, I've had them for 10+ years. They last FOREVER. I also have a pair of Shimanos that I really like and are a reasonable price. You may want to look at the Specialized brand that have the BOA system. With that you can fine tune the tightness of the fit. I have these in my mountain bike shoes, and I love them!!!

I love mine! Just got off about an hour ago. Take a lot of classes and find the instructors you like - everyone has preferences. I love Christine D'Ercole - very uplifting and supportive.
That's not too bad of a wait!

Welcome! We actually have a 2 peas hashtag that you can add to your screen name. We can find each other and be friends there.
I bought non Pelonton shoes last week and what a difference they make. I bought Tiem Slipstream shoes. You have to change the pedals out but it's not hard to do at all. The Peloton shoes don't have a lot of cushion and my toes fall asleep if I'm riding out of the saddle (standing up).

I bought one for DS and I 2 weeks ago but it's not scheduled to be delivered until July 22nd Gives me plenty of time to get the basement ready but I don't want to wait! It's being delivered by Peloton vs. XPO. I've heard that people have gotten their delivery dates moved up with XPO. I watched the ESPN celebrity ride Saturday....I can't wait!

Welcome-don’t forget to find our pea tag. I just did my 50th ride yesterday. We got ours the end of March. I never thought I’d be “that” person! No advice on the shoes. Mine fit fine and I would not say I had a narrow foot at all.

I have these specialized shoes.I was fine with the Peloton shoes till about 100 rides in and then started to have issues. Going wider made a huge difference. So did getting fit well. I had a local bike fitter come out and fit me. It made a HUGE difference in my comfort on the bike. I rode 408 miles last month, my most miles in a month to date. I got mine in January 2019 and I have done 516 rides. Totally addicting and worth every penny!! I had never taken a spin class before getting it, just some outdoor road biking. I love my Peloton!! #craftymomof4

Most bike stores have bike fitters for road bikes and mountain bikes. I asked and their guy also fits people on Pelotons. So he came out to our house and fit me - and fit me on my road bike again too. I would also suggest to everyone to go to a bike store and have your sitz bones measured to see what size seat you need. I changed my seat (to a less padded one than the standard Peloton one) and I am so much more comfortable with one that my sitz bones fit on than I was on the other one.

I have an echelon bike. I never do the live rides only the on demand because I’m so intimidated by people’s stats. My dh got it for me for Christmas because I said I wanted one. I loved spinning classes at my gym.

My peloton shoes make my feet go numb. I’m trying to decide if I want to some that are LOOK cleat or just go with SPD and change out the pedals as well. I’d rather keep the peloton pedals but don’t want to buy expensive shoes only to find out part of the issue was the look cleats (also they are a bitch to unclip!!!).

Can any of you give me some advice? I REALLY want a Peloton, but I know that I'm just soo lazy right now. Hearing that you all love yours, makes me think I could do it. But I would really hate getting one and letting it sit like the treadmill gathering dust and the stair climber I never use. How did you know it was right for you?

I think for me it’s the combo of the bike and the app and following some Peloton FB groups. I didn’t realize that I’m kind of competitive. And I saw someone who posted the calendar that showed they worked out each day and I thought-I can do that. Then I started noticing the badges and the challenges and they are seemed like reasonable goals. So I’d do those. Then I’ve gotten into finding the rides I like and thru the app, I filter the length, the difficulty, the music, etc...bookmark them so I have no excuses. And personally I love love love not going to a gym, but having the instructor right there with me.

But I would really hate getting one and letting it sit like the treadmill gathering dust and the stair climber I never use. How did you know it was right for you? I’m in a lot of FB groups and a surprising amount of people had never done spinning classes and bought the peloton and it worked out for them. Of course I wouldn’t really know of the people It wasn’t working out for since they wouldn’t be posting! For me, I was looking into spinning to mix up my running because it was aggravating my hips and knee. I had done a couple spin classes and was kind of “meh” about it but knew it was a good workout that would be body friendly (for me). I decided to get a cheap bike on Amazon (I paid $230 - it not available anymore but it was a good bike!) to see how I felt about it. I did that for 3 months to make sure I would stick with it and then got the peloton (Gave other bike to my adult dd and she uses a free account on my peloton for classes) and then I liked spinning even more because it added to my overall experience with the metrics, leaderboard, etc. I don’t run anymore. Lol I use the peloton for spin and the app for yoga, strength workouts, and some walking on my non peloton tread. All that said, I was already working out for a year so I wasn’t “lazy” as you say you are. I was before that, though. 😂 Getting the bike won’t magically make you work out. You still need to be motivated. But if you find you enjoy the workouts you may be! I’ve also seen people desperate for a peloton (don’t want to wait for delivery) and buying used bikes for new prices so it should be pretty easy to sell if you decide it’s not for you after all.

One option is to try the app for a month free trial, even without the bike, to see if you like the vibe. They have lots of other workouts. And you could just watch a few minutes of an actual spin class. Also, I bought a non-Peloton bike that I can use with the peloton app. It’s a lot cheaper and resale is going for 100% of the original price so it’s very low risk to try.

But I would really hate getting one and letting it sit like the treadmill gathering dust and the stair climber I never use. How did you know it was right for you? I hate to exercise. Like HATE. The only exercise I do is social for me - doubles tennis; a pilates class with friends. Dh and I decided to get the Peloton and I was like "okay, cool." I went on occasionally. Until I found that the music really motivates me. I have to love the music. Now, when I choose the right class - I'm gone. I sing at the top of my lungs and pedal away. And then I started doing it more and more and now I really, really like it (not going to say I love exercising because I never will.) I'm not sure what made me turn the corner but I actually kind of look forward to it every morning now. I pick my class in advance by looking at what music they'll be playing and I've worked my way up to 45 minute classes (started at 20 minute classes.) And I find some of the instructors "speak" to me more than others. Christine D'Ercole is super motivating and she seems to know at exactly the right time when to say something supportive that feels like she knows what I'm thinking (usually it's "ugh, how much longer.....")

Also the SPD pedals are so easy to clip out of!

I suspect the cleats are the culprit - they are so bulky I think they dig into the ball of my foot and make it go numb (I spend a lot of time out of the saddle). Did you get your pedals off amazon?

The ones I bought and linked you to includes them but I noticed some didn't.

I'm another who uses the Peloton app with a non-Peloton bike. I went this route to begin with because I wasn't sure I'd like spin and even if I did, I doubted I'd continue to work out at home after the pandemic. But, I fell in love and have zero regrets not buying the actual Peloton. Is it better than my current bike? Yes? Is is 3x better (it's 3x the cost)? Nope, no way. And I never have to worry about the software not being upgraded anymore (like the first gen Peloton). I use my iPad Pro, so I have a nice big screen. And instead of spending an extra $1600 on the bike itself (plus $480/year for programming), I spent that on building out the rest of my home gym. I LOVE the Peloton app - the workouts are great. Cycling, strength, stretching - I use them all often.
