I’d love to start a discussion about current events, if there are a few of us here.
It’s an important time, yet there’s a feeling of limbo. The racial injustices hit home, but I also don’t want to minimize the focus on black lives now — not other people of color.
So much of the rhetoric is specific to black-white dynamics. Things feel both applicable and not applicable to other POC at the same time. Like should I be reading books like White Fragility or other similar literature? I’m affected by systemic racism, yet I acknowledge that my relatives and ancestors were not here when slavery that built this country. How can we best affect change when we aren’t either player in the conversation?
I’m trying to be a good ally and walking my own path in encountering racism at the same time.
Wasn’t sure if anyone else was having similar feelings.

No. I am not having any confusion. Racism I experienced as a brown girl from India is not same as what happens to black people in this country.
I call out my fellow Indians who make racist comments about black people based on the stereotypes they know. I am not going to have a discussion related to other POC right now. This is not the time. Not today. Not when people are dying seeking justice. Don’t ask me when is the right time. I don’t know when. May be when a white man doesn’t kill a black man just for being black. May be when a white man stops killing a runner just because he is black. Not today. Not right now.

I am specifically talking about how to further the conversation for black people as another POC. About how all the rhetoric is about how white people can do better when it’s not just an issue about white privilege — other POC are affected by the systemic racism that exists and may be perpetuating it. It’s so very black vs white when we could be pooling resources and combining efforts. It’s not just a two-sided problem and I think other POC are in a unique position to help or be better allies. Because the answer is not just to say, white people be better.
