all or most of the time? I've been reading this helps even out the heat of a gas oven and may debating trying it.
Just curious if others do
What kind of stone do you have/recommend?

Yes I do but I remove it unless I’m making pizza. Mine is a generic one I got at the grocery store but I loved the pampered chef one I used to have.

Yes. We have one I ordered from amazon. we leave it in the oven all the time. Mainly because I have no other place to store it, it's huge. We get a lot of unbaked pizza's and bring home, and it makes them just like the pizza place does.

Ours lives in our oven. Bottom rack. If I need to use all 3 racks I take it out. Otherwise, it lives there. Anything that is on it gets baked into it and burned off. We've had the same stone for over 20 years. Pizza is made weekly usually. It was used yesterday to make sourdough baguettes.

Yes! But mainly bc it is very heavy and I’m lazy. Plus I don’t know where I would store it. I think I ordered mine online a while back - it is a baking steel and I think it was about $75. I use it for pizza.

Gas oven and yes, it stays in there all the time on the lowest rack. It’s a self-cleaning oven, so when we run that cycle we take it out. Unless my DH gets a bee in his bonnet and decides to take it out for reasons only known to him. (Insert giant eye roll here). I really have no clue why he randomly takes it out. He doesn’t even cook. Ever.

I never thought about leaving it in the oven. Mine goes in the drawer under the oven. We don’t have pizza that often but I guess I could leave it in there. My oven isn’t gas, though.

I have the small one from Pampered Chef that lives in my toaster oven. I use it almost daily and it's pretty black now but it still gets the job done..

I have two stones and it’s never occurred to me to keep them in the oven. I use them for all sorts of things including cookies which I would need to remove the sheet to use so I don’t see a benefit of keeping them in the oven. I have a cabinet with vertical slots for storing pans and cookie sheets and cutting boards- I keep mine there. Also - my two are rectangle. And we never use them for pizza! Lol

Do you leave the stone in there while other things are baking? I’ve never heard of doing this. It would make it easier for me for sure.

Mine stays in the oven. It’s a good/ easy place to keep it and I read that it’s good for baking / cooking. I have the William Sonoma one. It’s been in my oven for about 8 years. Mine is a big rectangle.
I have a smaller rectangle for the bbq - we remove it from the bbq when not using it.

Yes I do since moving to Belgium. It helps regulate the temp of the oven.
We looked at 13 houses and they all had tiny ovens. Every one of them. DH calls it my Easy Bake Oven. It has one rack that will barely hold a 15” baking sheet. The temp can vary by 50 degrees from the bottom of the oven to the top and I was getting really inconsistent results cooking dinner, much less cookies. The stone works really well because any pans/baking sheets rest right on the stone. I can use an instant read thermometer to get the temp of the stone vs relying on the temp the oven is set to or the temp of the thermometer in the oven.

We store it in the oven but remove it when baking something bc it takes longer for the oven to heat up when it’s in there. We have an electric oven.

I do and leave it in the oven. This last one has definitely lasted at least 5 years. It is great!! I got a generic one from Target.
