There was a protest planned for today, but a few days ago someone started shooting off their mouth and it got moved to a virtual event. A lot of ppl said "bullshit, we're doing it anyway". Several hundred ppl showed up. I went and it was really educational. Our town doesn't have a lot of black residents, but we do have a fair amount of black students that come to town to go to school (we have a really nice university here). Several shared their stories and some of them were very shocking... and this is stuff going on in my own town. Our law enforcement was there in force and the heads of every department walked with the protesters. I found out from one of them that they had a "come to jesus" meeting with those that were making threats. (stupidly ON a law enforcement page. No one said criminals were smart) I thought the best way that I could help, was to take photos that could be shared on fb. I wanted to share a few here. |

Is there a fb site for your locals to view these. They'd enjoy them.
I put them on my fb and made them public. These (and about 20 more) have been shared about 140 times now. That's a lot of ppl in my community that go to see!

Those images are great! Really wonderful photojournalism.
Tomorrow is my little town's moment to be proud. We are gathering at the flagpole in the center of our Main Street, for a masked protest, and taking a knee for 8 minutes and 46 seconds of silence. This has become super important to me as Patriot Front stickers (white supremacist, neo-Nazi group) have been appearing on telephone poles in our town this week.

Thank you for sharing these. As you know (I think), I’m an alumna of the university in your town. I was really disappointed to read about the original event being moved online due to threats, and am glad to see so many people came out anyway.
I also hope the university will change its mind about admitting the young woman who mocked George Floyd’s death on her social media. It’s not too late for them to send her packing.

Our small town/city is having a protest tomorrow. Rumors are flying that there will be some violence. Many small shops have boarded up their windows. I hope it's peaceful.

Very nice! My little podunk town had a protest last week. It started out peaceful but then got a little ugly. It was unfortunate.

That's great. Beautiful photographs and I find it very powerful when predominantly white towns march. It says a lot about the people.
