Our 10 year old yellow lab seems to have injured her hip/leg a couple of days ago getting all excited at the UPS guy. I had not noticed her limping or favoring it before then. She hasn't been herself and is limping/putting very little weight on her leg.
I had given Cosequin to our boxer several years ago and and I really think that it helped him.
If you have, did it help? How long until you saw results? How many do you give per day?
It says to start with 3 per day for 4-6 weeks then 1-2 per day for maintenance for a dog over 60 lbs. Daisy is 90 lbs.
I've ordered it and should be getting it in a few days. It gets a lot of really good reviews on Chewy.
Thanks.

We use these and my brother started using them for his Brittany Spaniel. Emma gets 3 a day and loves them. They are dosed by weight and they seem to help. Our golden lab had horrible arthritis due to a Lyme vaccine and was on about $400 of meds a month due to pain. We started the supplement early in the hope that we could avoid this for Emma.

We gave Rimadyl to our dog. Made a world of difference.

I give Dasuquin with MSM. I give a double dose. Posie has responded really well to the increased dose—she's 10.

We give it to our Cavalier. She’s 12 now, and a couple years ago we started giving it to her. Initially we gave her one daily, and noticed soon the results.
She was having a hard time getting up and down, and using the stairs. Now it’s only a problem when she’s super tired. We give it to her about every other day now.

I've used Pet Naturals of Vermont to pets in the past. I'm now using NaturVet Hemp Joint Pain for one of our dogs now. My feed store where I get their dog food switched to carrying this other brand. Giving the extra they recommend for the first 2 or 3 weeks really helps. DO NOT run out! And make sure you do give every day, not every other day or once in a while. If you doing give it to them every day for maybe a week, you'll have to start over are out for a week.
Just make sure you have Glucosamine, Chondroitin and MSM. I think the Chondroitin is the one you don't need as much of but the other two, usually an equal amount. It has made a big difference in three of our dogs, going from can barely walk to running! Or from acting like in pain to like a young puppy again.

I use Springtime Supplements Advanced Hip and Joint chewables for my 3-legged pup. In addition to glucosamine, chondroitin, and MSM, it also has Boswellia extract. We ran out once and I bought Cosequin, which didn't seem to work as well.

Cosequin, Dasuquin and other joint supplements are meant to be taken as a way to help PREVENT issues with the joints. If the pain and anti-inflammatories are not helping, them it is time to get a consultation with an orthopedic specialist!

Louis takes half of one daily, along with Rimadyl. He's taken both for several years and I did notice a difference. He's 16 now and losing the use of his back legs, but still tries to be active.

I give mine Phycox. I give it to my dog as a preventative since he's a GSD that is prone to hip issues. He's 8, so he's still pretty active, but he definitely seems to move around a lot better - especially going up and down the stairs.

We use Deramaxx. Stella's arthritis is so bad she is unable to walk without it.

Our vet recommended Dausquin for our 15 year old pup after he had leg surgery this March.
He seems to be doing fine.
We order ours from Amazon.

If the pain and anti-inflammatories are not helping, them it is time to get a consultation with an orthopedic specialist! Idk that this is necessarily true. My dog has been prescribed gabapentin for her arthritis, but I don't like giving it too her as she hates it. I started giving her dasuquin, and after about a month on it I noticed she no longer limps after she's been laying down for a while, and she hasn't needed the gabapentin in months.
