Never owned one, never wanted one but my dad got new carpet and he wants one, lol. There are some online but reviews are not great. I honestly do not see the point at all but I want to buy him one since he wants one. His new carpet is looped so I don't even know how that would work without snagging a loop. Do you own one? Would it work with looped carpet? TIA!

We did in the 70s with shag (RED shag, no less... my mama loves bright colors, just like me..)
I think you could lightly rake looped carpet and fluff it up without snagging.
I haven't thought of carpet rakes in YEARS!
I remember backing out of the room so that my footprints wouldn't mar the pretty, raked fluffiness.

Oh my!!! Wondering how I never heard of this!? I have an obsession with my carpet lines. The best ones are when I use my carpet cleaning machine.

A fast talking carpet cleaning guy talked me into buying one from him. Never used it. Not once. Gave it away when we moved.

Bwahahaha🤣🤣🤣🤣
Damn you should have been at dead brother’s house when we were clean it out. I could have given a rake.
All the parts for Kirby including the RAKE! but no KIRBY! We don’t know if he had one, or if he just found the attachments somewhere and brought them home. Or what? The current theory is that one of the whore’s friends was selling a new vacuum ( tri Star) and he traded the Kirby and $7000 for the new vacuum. ( yes you read that right $7000).

I need one for a carpet that sheds a lot. We had one in Montreal where we lived and it was awesome. I would love one right now!

I barely have the energy to vacuum ... forget about raking I remember in the 70's my mum had a rake ... I never volunteered to use it because I was lazy even back then

My parents had one in the 70s for their new shag bedroom carpet. As a kid I loved to play with it so we would rake the carpet all the time. I think the purpose is to fluff up the shag carpet, but you still need to vacuum. Is your carpet a high pile? (I’m assuming it’s not shag, but maybe it is?)

Occasionally. We have dogs and it does save us work long-term if we rake carpets before vacuuming.

Stupid question: Can the rake be used to make lines in plush carpeting??? (After I vacuum, it irks me to see footprints on my freshly vacuumed carpets. I admire how cleaning people can get such great carpet lines when they vacuum!)

I never heard of a carpet rake however we do "rake" our carpets.
This is similar to what we have. We moved and the house had new carpet. We literally burned out our vacuum because there was so much fuzz. So now I use the rake first and then vacuum. It is a little more work but well worth it. We also have a dog and two females with long hair.

Flash back to the 70s when a girlfriend's Saturday chores included raking the shag carpet. I loved to help and was so jealous because we just had boring old short pile rugs.

When I was a kid, we had olive green shag carpet in the house and it was my job to rake it. I hated it!

hmm, the only carpet rake i have heard of was for round, oval or square area type rugs that have those tassles on the end and the rake was to use on the tassle ends so they would lay flat and even.
my friend was an only child of german super religious immigrant parents and many of the chores he had as a child, i had never even *heard* of! lol!
