www.nbcnews.com/news/us-news/feds-review-investigations-two-black-men-found-hanging-southern-california-n1231139"Federal law enforcement agencies, including the FBI, are reviewing investigations into the deaths of two Black men who were recently found hanging in Southern California. Sheriff's officials have said there are no signs of foul play in the death of Robert Fuller last week in Palmdale, north of Los Angeles, or the death May 31 of Malcolm Harsch in Victorville, but investigations continue.... Investigators will examine the rope as well as the knot to determine how it was tied, Los Angeles County sheriff's homicide Capt. Kent Wegener said Monday. They are also looking for any surveillance video and will try to contact the witness who found Fuller, and they will examine Fuller's medical history and his cellphone, Wegener said." Yeah, pardon me if I have a hard time believing you, Sheriff's office, without a lot more evidence. Stop saying "no signs of foul play" and just say "we're investigating."

I had read in possibly a different article regarding the first young man was that there were no defensive marks on the body which is why they possibly said no signs of foul play. I read they will bring in an outside agency. I hope the family receives answers.

A lot of the comments on the stories I've read about these cases have said that Kern County and Palmcaster are really racists areas. And that Kern county has a pretty active KKK element. I guess Bakersfield is especially bad? We were stationed at Edwards AFB 25 years ago and had no idea the surrounding area was like that. I can't imagine it would have crept in recently, so it must have been like that and we just didn't really notice because we were more isolated on the base? It was also our first base and we were young and naive and fresh out of Utah, so we may have not noticed what was right in front of our noses.

It's horrifying. There was a man found hanging in Manhattan the other day as well. All three feel like modern day lynchings. I pray the murderers are caught and rot in jail.

There was a case in Houston where a man was found hanging from a tree. Official reports say it was a Hispanic man with a history of mental illness, and that his family said he was suicidal.
But there is a group of people claiming that the man was black instead of Hispanic, and was lynched instead of having committed suicide, and the backstory from the supposed "family" is a cover-up conspiracy from the authorities. And it's getting ugly with unbalanced internet detectives flinging accusations against people who work/live near where the man was found, doxxing and threats being made, people coming into the neighborhood and gathering at the place the man was found to "investigate" and "demand justice". And it's being perpetuated by constant posts on social media as a lynching, not a suicide.

These stories are so sickening. It is horrifying to think that lynchings could be occurring and being blamed as suicides.

Do you think it’s likely or unlikely that the men were lynched?

With the current climate, it is definitely worth looking into. Perhaps the tox screens will show something. Otherwise, without evidence on the rope or the area where the men were found, it is unlikely to change from suicide to homicide or even suspicious death.
Many families don't believe that their loved ones would kill themselves and yet it happens. Economic hardship is often linked to suicide.
If this was murder, I hope they catch the murders soon and throw the book at them.

Does anyone remember the Adrienne Shelley case? She was the writer for the movie Waitress and was found hanged in her apartment. Police said there were no signs of foul play; her husband insisted that she never would have taken her own life. She had not. It turned out she was murdered.
Anyhow, “no signs of foul play” from the police is not dispositive.

For those who won't click the link about Rand Paul (R-White Man) Republican senator Rand Paul holds up anti-lynching bill amid George Floyd protests Republican senator Rand Paul is holding up a bill that would make lynching a federal crime, amid the George Floyd protests. Mr Paul admitted on Wednesday that he is the only hold-out in the Senate on the Emmett Till Anti-lynching Act. ---- Emmett Till - another history lesson I wasn't taught in our white-centric man-centric "HIS" story classes. And then we wonder why people are sick with grief, fear and terror after living with their white "Christian" neighbors for 400 years being told "everything is equal" for the "last 60". From this young man to this:

Body of teen found hanging by schoolThey say the have video but this sudden outbreak of 'suicides' doesn't smell right. "A black teenager was found dead by hanging in a tree outside a school in suburban Houston late Tuesday, authorities said. The Harris County Sheriff’s Office said the teen’s body was discovered in the parking lot of Ehrhardt Elementary School in Spring, Texas. “Based on security video, witnesses and other evidence, preliminary indications are the male hanged himself,” the sheriff’s office said on social media. “There are currently no signs of foul play.”

The Bobby Fuller case has made me sick from the first I heard of it. That a black man found hanged from a tree in a public place would be immediately labeled as a suicide and only investigated after a public outcry is wrong. Palmdale/Lancaster has a long history of racial tensions which has worsened in the last couple decades with more minorities moving into the area. Just last year 4 elementary school teachers were placed on paid leave for posting a photo of themselves with a noose and claimed not to know what it meant. They were just found to be ignorant.

Suicides my ass!
Anyone who thinks black men found hanging in public spaces are suicides, I have a bridge for sale. Lynchings were used to terrorize black people. Keep them quiet and compliant. These protests are angering white supremacists and this is their tried and tested method of fighting back. They are trying to instill that deep ingrained fear in these unruly black people who are demanding they be heard and given basic human rights.
I hope it is a good sign that outside investigators are being brought in.
What state is R Paul from? Who is he protecting? No decent human being is going to hold up an anti-lynching bill.

Didn't know the racial overtones? How ignorant are they? Evoking the Wild West is not even a good explanation. And certainly not joking about Suicide. I don't threaten jobs lightly, but these idiots should not be around children.

It was a shocking smack in the face to me that adults could be this cruel to a child. And that one entire race could be so horrible to another. And this was taught in my very white school in the super white town that I lived in.

It was all "shining city on a hill" w/no mention of native American genocide, a glossing over of slavery and NOTHING about Jim Crow, redlining, KKK, white supremacy, etc.

I’m shocked you didn’t learn about Emmett Till in school. I never heard of him till this thread. But I am also not American by birth and only moved here in my mid 30's. I will have to try and remember to ask my kids if they studied him school.

A half brother of one of the men has been killed by police during a traffic stop. This man had been holding a girlfriend hostage for a week--and came out of the car with a semi-automatic gun and started shooting at the police. Besides the "girlfriend" there was a 7 year old in the car. Thankfully, the little girl wasn't harmed.

As horrible as that is, I'm grateful it wasn't murder. Suspicions of foul play were raised when the bodies of two Black men were found hanging about 50 miles and 10 days apart in California. But the family of one of those men announced Friday that he killed himself. "On behalf of the family of Malcolm Harsch, unfortunately it seems he did take his own life," Najee Ali, a family spokesman told CNN. "The Victorville Police Department officials released new video evidence to family members. The family wants to sincerely thank everyone for their support and prayers." The Department of Justice and the FBI were reviewing Harsch's death along with that of Robert L. Fuller, 24. Harsch was found May 31 in Victorville and Fuller was found 10 days later in Palmdale. The proximity of the deaths to the outbreak of protests appeared to be an intimidation tactic, said one protester who called for further investigation. The San Bernardino County Sheriff's Department announced Friday no foul play was involved in Harsch's death after detectives obtained surveillance video from a vacant building near where he was found. The evidence from the case, including the surveillance video, was shown to Harsch's family members per their request, the department said in a statement. From link above.
