OP:
I’m making a recipe for peanut butter cookies with just on, egg and sugar for gf bil. Are all peanut butters safe or which should I get? I do t know anything much about it and want them to be safe for him.
Update: Thanks everyone! I ended up buying a new jar of Jif. I knew not to use anything already open (we're not gluten free and I'm sure at some point one of my kiddos probably got a crumb of bread in ours at home.) I don't know much about gluten free so I appreciated the advice. The cookies were so good! Super easy recipe! 1 c. peanut butter 1 c. white sugar 1 egg Mix well, form into balls and bake 10 minutes. When they come out, do the criss-cross with a fork and let cook before removing them from the tray.

I've never heard of a peanut butter that has gluten. Pick one that has just peanuts and salt. Or just plain natural if you don't care about salt. Personally I do, lol.

Most peanut butters are GF, including commercial brands.
We made GF peanut butter cookies 2 weeks ago, from a GF recipe, and using natural peanut butter—while tasty they were dry as sand.
We all tried one, decided that they were not a good texture, and then put all the cooled cookies in a zip bag, crumbled them and used them for a crust (added melted butter and sugar) for a chocolate pie. 😄
So now we are using our regular go to PB cookie recipe, just subbing out with GF flour so that they are moist and chewy.

My jar of Jif is GF. When I make GF cookies, but I just use my regular recipe and the KA GF Measure-for-Measure flour.
Whenever making anything for specific dietary needs ALWAYS check the label each time you buy a new jar, box, can, whatever. Products can change over time or have a change of facility that may not make them GF, nut-free, sodium, etc.

Just make sure to open a new jar if you have PB at home that gets used with regular bread. Ditto new butter if you are making anything with that. This will help prevent cross contamination and help him out!

Peanut Butter on its own should be GF, if it's not then there has got to be all kinds of crazy in yours!
I have learned that in baking - ALWAYS - use the commercial (skippy is my brand of choice) peanut butter. The natural/organic versions separate and don't work well.
