Who else is watching? I've only seen the first episode but spoilers don't bother me. Anyway this is my favorite show on TV.
Also cool is that a dear friend of mine worked on editing it, but of course she did not share any spoilers with me!
I was heartbroken over the man losing his fire steel after he had such a good start (a hot bath!). I think he should have slept on it, made a friction fire, and kept it going as long as possible. If you've ever watched Alone: The Beast, that's what they had to do.
I don't quite get if multiple people last 100 days do they all get a million dollars? That was unclear.
My strategy would be to gain 50lbs before the show, dig a deep hole, line it with tons of moss, make a cover, and basically hibernate emerging only to check my gill net or snares. Haha that would make for pretty boring TV though! Plus I think there's permafrost that might make that approach a little difficult.

Love this show! I missed the first episode. I dream about the kind of shelter I would build. (yeah right!) I would last about 10 mins.

It's one of my favorite guilty pleasures to watch and pass judgment on everyone’s decisions, all the while knowing I'd tap out before the drop off helicopter even took off again. I feel conflicted about the bath guy. He seemed to waste so much time and energy fooling around, when anyone who watched the show knows they only have a limited number of “good” days to gather food and build shelter before the weather and limited calorie intake hampers them. I love how the shelters get better every year. They went from tarp and tree branch tents to practically little houses with stone fireplaces.

I watched the second episode and they're doing a great job showing people building and stuff. I felt like last season was really not edited as well, it was just people talking about how hungry they were and showing nothing but attempts to find food.
I love seeing what they find and build, not just the hunting and gathering of food. The stone house one guy is working on is just amazing, though I keep thinking about how many calories he's expending to build it.
It's off to a great start!

I just got caught up. We had to fast forward through the guy eating the fresh squirrel blood. 🤮

I fully expected her to come back wearing their skins. I couldn't watch that guy try to stab the squirrel in the hole, it was awful and I was so glad when he got away. Pretty sure I'd starve haha

That woman who tracked the wolves is a straight savage. I fully expected her to come back wearing their skins. Have you ever read Never Cry Wolf? I know it was required reading when I was in school in Canada, but not sure how widely known it is in other countries. I'm expecting her to become an honorary member of the pack! I've found this season to be a bit disjointed so far but still love it, especially the shelter building. Is the prize money split between anyone who makes it to 100 days?

I love this show! I love camping, hiking & being outdoors but I don’t think I would survive more than a day or two. Too bad for the guy that lost his fire steel & the one who injured his knee. Who do you think will drop next? I agree, this season seems more disjointed than others for some reason. Seeing the cool things they find & build are my favorite parts, too. I don’t think I have the imagination to use a boat as a bathtub.

I like this show and really like watching the types of shelters that they build...however, licking squirrel blood and talking to a skeleton animal head make me wonder why I am watching lol

I’m loving this season. These contestants really know their stuff. So far, I’m rooting for Amos, he’s been through so much, it would be wonderful if that experience helped him win this. Alaska guy with his cockiness and blood licking turns me off, but he does seem to have what it takes.
I was disappointed when one of the best looking guys tapped out, but appreciated that he took his trousers down to show us the water on his knee.

I know, I feel the contestants this season are over-the-top qualified! I'm rooting for Amos too. He's like, I grew up in a hole under a tree in El Salvador and caught my breakfast in a snare and I'm just like WUT YOU MUST BE THE GREATEST CONTESTANT EVER but then it's like every single one of them just lives outside catching stuff and tanning hides and making cabins with just trees and an axe and some moss, that's their norm. I could never compete with these people but I sure would like to try! I'd have a shelter of thin logs covered with a tarp covered with branches and moss and a raised bed and a stone fireplace and a tree stump chair and table. I'd be completely unable to kill an animal I found alive in a trap. I hate eating fish but I'd hope I could catch some.

The other week I was looking for this but somehow last night I found season 6 on Netflix and ended up watching like 3 episodes. I do love that show and get sucked in whenever I do come across it. The talent is amazing, no matter how you lived previously. I swore last night I had just commented to my SO "I wonder how many will slice their hand/leg etc" and sure enough, the girl in that season cut herself. It's one thing to break a knee or whatever but when you do it to yourself from carelessness it's another.
I often wonder why so many wait so many days to build the snares or fish traps. I get if building your home but so many wait which I guess you kinda have to make sure the spot you pick really is where it is best to build.

My (Boy Scout) son and I are watching this, plus an older season (which I watched but swear cannot remember much about it). It is fascinating. I have to admit, I'm kind of getting sick of the arctic environment. Haven't they done it 2x now and Serbia right before? I kind of would love to see a tropical environment, but then I guess I;d have to switch over to naked and afraid for that! LOL. I LOVE shows like this!

Dh and I have watched it since the beginning. I don't remember The Beast so I will have to make sure we saw that. We probably did but I don't remember a specially named season. I too am wondering about the million dollars. If more than one makes it, do they split it? Do they each get it? No idea. I'm not sure I like the presentation this season. On the first episode we only saw about 3-4 people and then 3-4 in the next episode and so on. Not sure that is my thing but that certainly won't make me stop watching! I think part of the difficulty of this is not knowing how many days you will be in the wild and have to survive. I'm not sure that I like that there is a 100 day cap on it.

Yes, 10 days before the first tap out is the longest, so that's part of it. I know, I feel the contestants this season are over-the-top qualified! It's definitely a whole different level of contestant, isn't it? I'm not sure half the people from the first few seasons would make the cut now. Haven't they done it 2x now and Serbia right before? Twice in the Canadian NWT, three times on northern Vancouver Island, once in Argentina and once in Mongolia.

I'm loving the shelters this season, especially that stacked rock fireplace the blonde lady made. And the chair the South African man made--you know you're doing well when you start making furniture and dice! One thing I'm not enjoying this season is seeing all the dead bunnies. Obviously I know the people need to eat and bunnies are prey animals, but it still bothers me. I wouldn't mind a deer nearly so much. I would love to do this experiment with DH, maybe not alone. Guess I'd have to get used to snaring animals

I can't believe Joe is sleeping under a tarp still! I know he is building a log cabin, but at least throw some branches on the tarp to stop it rattling in the wind and insulate it a bit. Joel playing his mandolin and serenading all the other contestants was epic editing IMHO. At this point I want them all to make it to 100 days and will be so sad to see anyone tap out. A slight hijack: Friends of mine were remote camping on Nootka Island a couple weeks ago, just a little bit south of where the first couple seasons of Alone were filmed. It is very remote, permit access only and you are dropped off/picked up by seaplane. They were warned not to leave their boots outside the tent at night because wolves have been stealing them.

I just started watching this with my 19yo on Netflix- but it must be an earlier season - they are in the Arctic- we are really enjoying it - I particularly love the scenery!

Yes I think Netflix has only Season 6. All of the seasons are available on Prime except the current one, which I watch on the History channel through Hulu Live since I don't have cable anymore.
