I had an idea for a red, white and blue slimline card, but my mojo didn’t show up at all today. I got the laundry done... that’s the sum total of my achievements for today! So I’ll show you my starting point and let you decide which elements inspire you, and you can go from there. Feel free to take any element(s) as your starting point - a slimline card, frames, the color scheme, embossing, paisley or plaid, astronauts, whatever catches your eye! June card challenge by jo.blackford, on Flickr I will check back in and share what I came up with. It might be a day or two... I hope you’ll play along

I just got a new die and had fun making a couple of cards. Here's the one starting with red, white and blue. Happy 4th of July by Nylene Budge, on Flickr

That's fantastic nylene - red white and blue, a cutie, and the 3 window die - perfect! And made from scraps too? I'm always a fan of using what you've got. Thanks for playing along!

Here is my red, white and blue card with a frame. It's for a 2 year old ... just explaining the um ... "exuberance".

jjpeapea, that is a great red, white and blue card. I love the flashy fireworks and always love the flag. The 4th of July is all about exuberance!

joblackford, I love your beginnings! It’s also nice to have such a flexible challenge. The astronaut stamps are adorable. nylene, your patriotic girl is incredibly cute, and that is a fantastic card! Please tell me who makes that little girl die. jjpeapea, that is a fun card, and perfect for a young child. The silver with the red, white, and blue are a nice touch. I actually got a card made this week. I went with the red, white, and blue, too, and it was nice because I was also able to use it for a Queen and Company challenge on Facebook. I used their Foundation dies and BoBunny papers that I found at Tuesday Morning at least a year ago.

Please tell me who makes that little girl die. Your card is so pretty and festive, scrapnnana ! I got my die from China. If you google Gorjuss girl there are a few places that sell the stamps and Amazon has a few dies. I think they are made by Santoro. I bought her on a whim and have enjoyed her.

scrapnnana I’m glad the challenge was flexible and not just me being totally lazy which is how I was feeling! I just couldn’t motivate myself to make a card with those supplies, and haven’t yet. I love how you’ve put together simple classic shapes to make a really lovely card. The papers are cool. At first I thought you’d done a LOT of stamping! Bonus for being able to use it for another challenge!

Thank you, nylene and joblackford.
nylene, I found a few of the Gorjuss stamps on Amazon and promptly ordered them. Thanks for the tip.
joblackford, I did not take your challenge as lazy at all. Besides, I totally understand that mojo does not necessarily perform on demand.

joblackford, your finished card is extremely cute! The layers are just right, and I like how the one patterned paper shows through the windows. I haven’t been as interested in the dies for the slim, long cards.....till now.

I haven’t been as interested in the dies for the slim, long cards.....till now. Thank you. I know what you mean. I wasn't going to get any slimline dies until I saw Trinity Stamps having a sale on this framed one. It really helps to define the spaces on the slimline dimensions, and it came with a couple of stitched layers as well. I'm a sucker for stitched dies! While I was at it I got a pack that has a grass, slope, and cloud border, which should also help for scene building, and since I didn't already have those in regular size it was a good investment for me - easy enough to cut down for A2 cards.

Thank you for your cute card joblackford. I enjoyed seeing your process with the before and after. Thank you both. I'm not sure why it took me a week to cut the layers and stick it down, but I was pretty happy with it in the end.
