DH knows 2 people suspected to have had it. Both were sick in March, didn’t need to be hospitalized. They weren’t tested because they didn’t need to be in the hospital & at that time there weren’t tests. I have a friend waiting for results right now. She was potentially exposed by a coworker on Friday. Friend was tested yesterday. She started feeling achy & has had a fever of up to 100.5 last night. We are hoping she isn’t positive and doesn’t get worse. He son is high risk if he gets sick.

sounds like the standard 'flu to me!! /s A friend of ours tested negative, but his doctors are sure he had it (which is in itself worrisome, yes?) He is my age, in good shape (and was a recruited college athlete), and it's now more than two months out from when he was really sick -- he is still often too weak to go sit on his own porch, and his doctors say his current lung condition is that of someone who has worked in the coal mines for years :/. I think often people think of this as "not that many people die," but being a parent of a young child and spending months incapacitated (with no guarantee you'll be getting back to normal) isn't great, either. Yes, very much. Because people get that negative and assume all is well and don’t take appropriate precautions. Some tests have a 15-30% false negative rate. That’s about 1 in 7 to 1 in 3 people. So scary. These accounts are so sad. I am so sorry for all of you who have lost someone. It's horrible. I believe my son and I had it. I'll be tested when antibody tests are better. My groomer believes she had it and did an antibody test that confirmed it. She had to drive 1.5 hours to get a test done. They don't do them around here. Otherwise, no one has told me they have had it, but there aren't a lot of cases in my town. My daughter is from NYC and she knows quite a few people who have had it and one person who died from it. All of her people were under 40 and most under 30. I read an article today or yesterday that gave a timeframe of 3 to 5 weeks after (exposure? Illness?) that gave the most accurate results. Looked around for you, but can’t remember or find where I read it, I’m sorry!

My brother-in-law who lives 10 minutes from me has it now. He is lucky that he hasn't been very sick. He's had cold/allergy symptoms and a headache. He got it when he and a couple friends went bar hopping which was a dumb thing to do. Luckily, my brother didn't catch it too.

Not until tonight. My daughter's friend that she was with a week ago tested positive today. But my daughter was told by a nurse from work that since she wasn't around her 48 hours of exposure, she was fine. It was a very nervous evening for us.

Fortunately, no. I have been self isolating at home, ordering food delivery, wearing a mask on the few occasions that I need to go out for meds or groceries, and washing my hands like crazy. I also use hand sanitizer multiple times when I am out, also sanitizing my steering wheel and anything I touch within my car. I am beyond careful because I'm 66 years old, I have asthma, and do not want to catch this. I am saddened, but not surprised, to see the rates going back up again. People became both bored with staying at home and confident that going out would be safer. It isn't. They keep finding multiple people sick after parties and group get togethers by people who felt this didn't need to affect their lives. I am so anxious for this to be over. I don't like living in a state of fear, no matter how slight that possibility is due to my precautions. I want to return to living life normally again. But I also won't jump the gun like I see so many people doing. The virus is still out there. I won't feel fully comfortable until a vaccine is developed.

I am so very sorry for the losses that all of the members of this board have experienced. This is still a very serious threat and I pray daily for victims as well as for the medical staff and researchers who are looking to formulate a vaccine.

My son and his wife had it, along with all 6 of my son’s fellow work crew. Very light cases, for which we are extremely grateful.
I also know one person who died from it. He was part of a nursing home cluster.

My boyfriend. He works in a long term care facility here in Canada. At some point 17 people on his floor (excluding staff) had it and he was giving them direct care. He tested positive to a routine test administered to all staff and residents. He was just tired, no cough, no fever, and he never developed these symptoms while he was isolating. He had to stay home 23 days and was able to go back to work after his second negative test. One of his colleagues who does the same job died of Covid (man in his early 50s). As for my boyfriend, he still finds it difficult to catch his breath sometimes and he's been considered cured more than three weeks ago. For the record, he is 39.

My dd's boyfriend's grandmother is in the hospital with it and I'm pretty sure dd and I have it now. We are both getting tested this morning. DD had a low grade fever for one day, and now has a cough and loss of smell. I've had a fever ranging from 98 to 101.5 since Wednesday along with a cough. So yeah....pretty sure we have it.

I have one relative in her 70's who had it and thankfully avoided hospitalization and recovered.
I also have a few friends who think they had it back in the first part of March when it was very difficult to get tested. One of them is still having issues with stamina etc.

My daughter administers COVID tests. It’s definitely real.
One of my friends lost her dad, another lost her grandmother. The husband of a church friend was severely ill, and two of their kids had it. Several of my coworkers have had it. We get email updates with numbers, not identifying information, whenever someone is positive.

An elderly couple and their 2 middle aged ‘children’. Whole family caught it. Only one of the kids survived. They were MIL’s old friends in the U.K.
Another friend of mine in the UK got it in March after a skiing trip to Italy. It wasn’t formally diagnosed but she was so ill for weeks, her dr told her it was COVID.

Yup. In April my SIL's Mother-in-law and FIL both in their early 60's, in great shape, eat well, take care of themselves, no underlying health factors got it and rode it out at home. FIL was worse then MIL. It was pretty bad for awhile, but thankfully neither had to be admitted to the hospital. They are both still dealing with the after effects. Just a few days ago my other SIL, who is a half sister called me to tell me her aunt and uncle both tested positive and where at home very sick. Once again, the man, uncle, was way sicker then the aunt. They called the ambulance cause his chest was hurting and he was having difficulty breathing but cause of the near crisis situation we are facing at our hospitals here in Arizona right now they wouldn't take him in cause his stats where "too good". She is just beside herself with worry cause they are in their late 70's and have tons of underlying health issues. I feel so bad for them as they are very nice people and it just breaks my heart for my SIL.
Just sucks all around for everyone and anyone who has gone thru it and for the all families who have suffered losses. Just like the flu my ass!

My brother called me last night and had to be tested before an upcoming surgery. The dr called him and said he tested positive for the virus. But he has not one symptom and feels fine. How can that be? This happened to my cousin and she believes she got a false positive test. I honestly don't know what to believe with the craziness she went through! Back in May she had surgery scheduled for a Friday and went in for pre-op on the Tuesday before with Covid as one of the tests. Thursday they call and tell her she tested positive and they cancelled her surgery. She was completely shocked because she had zero symptoms, had been taking full precautions while out wearing her mask, etc and she had been going into the office with a mask required there too (office not open to public). They told her she needed 2 negatives to be able to return to work. She was mostly ticked off because she had been waiting for this surgery for months. She didn't believe she had it, so Friday morning (day the surgery would have been), she went and got tested again. On Sunday results came back negative. So she waited a day, went back on Tuesday and got another Covid test AND an anitbody test at same time. Both came back negative. So within 1 week she tested positive once, negative twice and negative for antibodies. She had zero symptoms and while I won't give her medical history, I will say she has several co-morbidities (is that even a word?). Something isn't right and I have no idea what to even believe after she told us about her test results. But she really believes she had a false positive.

No, I don't know anyone who has had it. Cases are still quite low in my area, but they are rising. My family does what we can; stay home, wear masks, etc. but our community does not and have basically adopted the attitude "we are all going to get it, may as well get it over with." That's the exact conversation people have when it comes up in conversation. They don't care.

How can that be? Because he is asymptomatic, no symptoms but capable of spreading the virus. This is one of the reasons it's been hard to control the spread.

Early on, the only people I “knew” were my coworkers brother and his wife (never met them). Now, my son’s girlfriend and her whole family, a different coworker (who we all have worked with closely in the past few weeks) and another close coworker was getting tested today because she and her husband had symptoms. It’s real and surreal.

(( hugs )) to those who've lost people / been sick! I'm curious how everyone is doing now, since this thread is from a month ago. Yes I have had 10 friends who had it, All 10 passed away. Omg, I'm SO sorry !!! ![:'(](//storage.proboards.com/forum/images/smiley/cry.png) I still can't believe it, but my sister-in-law's 92 year-old Dad had it and survived! He never needed a ventilator, but was in hospital a week or so. He has survived cancer and shortly before Covid, he was having cardiac issues. I was SURE he wouldn't make it, and had already worried how devastating it would be for them / him to die alone in the hospital. Needless to say, they are all SO grateful (and amazed !!) that he's okay, and has been home for a while.

Yes. Ex had it (he tested positive for the antibodies but couldn’t get a test mid March when he was sick), I had the same symptoms as he shortly after his started. It took months for us to recover, and there are still lingering lung, fatigue and mental impacts now. I still haven’t regained my senses of smell/ taste. Possibly 2 of our kids did, but there was no testing then so we don’t know. Youngest had a flu diagnosis, but wasn’t tested for Covid, and Dd had a mystery illness with high fever, rash and shutting down her kidneys. Her drs were baffled by that in March. She is recovered now except for horrible fatigue (but she did have mono last year and hadn’t fully recovered from that either). Edited to add: dd (15) also had a classmate and their mother who tested positive mid March. I believe they are both recovered now. Wow! So sorry for all of you getting SO sick! What was the treatment for your dd's kidney failure, and how is she now? Since this thread is a month old, I'd be curious how you, your family, and everyone else are doing now. (( hugs )) to everyone who's been through it----please let us know how you're doing now.

Thank you so much. Losing 10 people in under three months has taken its toll. There was a point where I didn't want to answer my phone. I think the hardest part has been not being able to say goodbye. Or be there for the families. I really just want 2020 to be over with. I hope you haven't lost any other people! More (( hugs )) It took another several weeks til she was finally pain free, and is still too weak to stand/walk for more than a half hour per day. She has suffered lasting damage to lungs, kidneys, and liver. Because we don't know a lot about the AFTER-affects, I'm curious, what was the source of her pain? Hope she's better now! A very close friend, he died last week. I'm so sorry! If you don't know anyone who's had it, just get on your knees and say, "Thank you!" then PUT ON YOUR MASK so it stays that way! AMEN !!!!! He kept a journal of his experiences and it should be published as a public health warning. His stories of his mental state were like reading about a world of fantasy or like a horror movie. He hallucinated for days. He recovered somewhat but still has mental issues. He’s a scientist and wants to figure the whole thing out. It’s not a hoax. I've never heard anything like this---how terrifying! I'm actually surprised he was able to journal while going through it! How is he now?

absolutely, My Aunt and she is still struggling 4 months later and she wonders if she will ever be the same.
I have two different friends that each lost a parent.
My good friend that just recently moved to Texas, her entire family of 6 has it. Five are recovered but one of her twins (16) is not doing well and he is in the Hospital. Literally just got this info a few hours ago.
Another friends Mother caught it early on and she is doing ok now.
