I find it fascinating that I can recognize people even with more than half of their face covered. Even people that I don't know very well and don't see very often.

I can't recognize other people - I can hardly recognize myself in a mask

I wondered if I could be recognized. I saw someone I knew for the first time we started wearing masks last week. A teenage boy who moved away from our neighborhood a couple of years ago. Now I was wondering if that was him (no mask, but he changed his hair color and grew taller and more mature), but I knew he was him when he recognized me with my mask.

Not only can't I NOT recognize people in masks, I'm having a hard time hearing with everyone wearing masks. I must lip read with out knowing I'm doing it.

I’m kind of happy to see the masks, especially if people get stylish ones. I’m face-blind and have so much time recognizing faces, but can use hair, hats, glasses, etc. to help me recognize people. So knowing that someone is “the guy with the orange mask” is actually helpful for me!

Depends on who it is for me. Yesterday I was sitting in the doctor's office parking lot waiting for my daughter to come out. A woman approached my window, and I had no idea who it was. Turns out, it was a lady on my sewing team. Ugh! But in my defense, she also had her hair pulled back very tightly in a pony tail, and I have never seen her wear her hair like that. Very embarrassing when I asked "Do I know you?"

I have a horrible time recognizing people under normal circumstances. So far in the 2 weeks I have been back to work, I have recognized all the people who are where I expect them to be (store workers in their usual spots, that sort of thing) but I feel like if I ran into someone I knew unexpectedly I might not.

I should add that while I've been surprised that I've recognized people, who knows how many I've walked right past not realizing that I know them. lol

I haven't had any troubling recognizing people. Body shape, size, hair color, glasses, etc., all are bigger cues to recognize someone at a glance.

The other day my son had a school sports physical and they asked if we could see a different nurse practitioner at the last minute. I supposedly knew her father etc. I did ask her if she minded lifting her mask for a second so I could see her face. It just made me feel more comfortable seeing her. Our dentist always wore one, and I was the same way. I needed to see a full face before I felt comfortable letting someone touch me.

I noticed this too, like even the cashiers at the stores know who I am and ask about kids or work or such. I figure I am pretty recognizable by my hair and height alone. Also, I must talk to everybody way too much

For me it totally depends! lol.... My church has a garden where we grow vegetables for a local food bank. This is my week to water, so I helped with the weekly harvest on Tuesday. The main garden guy was there to supervise us neophytes to make sure we didn't harvest something we shouldn't. One other woman showed up to help. She was a shorter white woman in the 50+ age range. She had on a really full face mask, the kind that covers basically everything except your eyes. And she was wearing a sun hat. We have three women in this church who fit the description of "short white 50+". Honestly, it took me about 20 minutes to figure out which one of those three she was! lol. It wasn't until she said "I really miss singing in the choir" that I figured it out, since only one of the three is in the choir. lol

I'm terrible with faces to begin with. I don't recognize anybody in a mask. I walked right by my next door neighbor at the grocery store -- she recognized me, but I couldn't place her for a minute.

Of the few friends I’ve run into at the store, I have recognized them by their height and body shape. Both were men, and both of them are extremely tall. 😄.

I really haven’t noticed this to be an issue for me. I recognize them okay. I just can’t ever think of their names... but I can’t blame coronavirus for that.

I started back to work on Monday. I usually don’t wear my glasses because they fog when wearing a mask. I’m amazed how well I’m able to ID coworkers based on basic body type/body language from a distance.

I have to learn the names of 800 new kids this fall probably without being able to see their entire face. I’m fairly face blind as it is and struggle with this even when I can see their whole face. Should be fun! 😂

We were working at an outside food drive today. Many people had hats plus sunglasses, plus we all had masks. I met a few people for the first time today, and told them not to be offended if I met them again and was clueless!

I actually mistook someone working at the Wendy's drive-thru this week to be a friend of my DD. He kept looking at me and I kept looking at him to the point where I finally said, "Is your name Wyatt?" He then asked me to repeat because he couldn't hear/understand due to the mask. So I asked him again and he took off his face mask briefly and said, "Nope, I'm (whatever his name was)." Without the mask, it was a little more obvious, but I swear the eyes and the hair were pretty much identical. We both got a chuckle out of it.

I had a student who was working at a grocery store during remote learning and he used to always say so and so went through my line last night. When I asked what they had to say, he would always say that he didn't recognize them until they told him who they were! LOL
Should be interesting when school starts up again!
