Would you go? Not sure if there are any "nice" ones in my area. DH ordered a new washer, but it wont be here for a bit. We have a friend who will let us use his washer, but it would be so much quicker to do all the washing at once. And dont get me started about waiting for one to be delivered!

Yes I would go. I would wear a mask, put everything in the machine, set a timer on my phone and wait in my car until everything was finished. Once the clothes were dry I would take everything home to fold at home.

Oh, I love laundromats! I took my bedding last week and had a lovely morning sitting and reading and waiting for the wash and dry to finish. Hardly anyone there.
Don't know why you'd have to wait in your car. Are your laundromats usually full of people?

I think a laundromat would be fine if you went early in the morning right when they opened and parked at the entrance. If it was crowded, you could wait in your car. Can you bring home the wet laundry and dry things at home? It might be worth it to drive to the one with the best yelp reviews. Also-make sure everyone in your family is re-wearing clothes, especially if they're not going to work outside the house. They need to be flexible about wearing their not-favorite clothes when the favorites are dirty. Tell them the next load will be socks and underwear only

In my town, quite a few outdoors launderettes have popped up. They are located next to convenience stores, and there is a sort of canopy covering the machines. I know a neighbour who just sits in her car and reads while she’s using it. Being outside, there is obviously a much lesser risk if you have to use it. 🙂

I don't know that I've ever seen a busy laundromat (as far as people, I've seen some where almost all the machines are in use). I'd go without issue, pack a mask and some hand sanitizer. On the off chance it were crowded wait outside or in the car.

thanks! I really want to wash my sheets and some towels. Off to look at Yelp. Years ago, when I lived in a rental house, I would go to a near by apartment complex to wash and dry. That's another option I guess.

Our laundromats offer a wash and dry service where you drop your clothes off and they do the heavy lifting. It isn't very expensive and then you don't have to worry about waiting. You just go pick them up when they are done.

Don't know why you'd have to wait in your car. Are your laundromats usually full of people? I live in a major city that mostly has apartments or condos without attached laundry, any time I’ve had to go to a laundromat there’s lots of people inside. Pre-Covid it never bothered me and I would wait inside, now I wouldn’t. I have to wash my bedding in the large machines so I’m there at least once a month.

If it was busy, I'd sit outside (if there was someplace to sit)... otherwise, in my car.

I would go, but I also would take something to wipe the handles, buttons and so forth with before using the machines. Be sure to let dry 10 minutes before using so the disinfectant has time to kill any germs that could linger on the machine.

I wouldn't go... not covid related but I've seen and heard what some people take there to wash and I don't want to be the next load after that one... yuk! Of course, I am a self proclaimed germ freak as well. When we lived in an apartment (25 years ago) we used to take the stuff to my mom's and spend the evening doing laundry once a week.

I never go to a dry cleaner either- I use the hand wash and delicate cycles on my machine.

I don't love going to the laundromat but I do LOVE LOVE that the occasional time (washer broken) that I had to, that I could do ALL my laundry in 2 hours. It freed up so much of my time. Although lugging it back and forth sucked. haha.. paget okay.. I guess I just have bigger stuff than queen size.. I have a king sized bed.. so it's just too big to go into my machine. Then I have a few odds and ends that I feel are to hard on my machine so I take them whenever I have to go.. which is hardly ever ever ever..

It’s not cheap but it’s extremely convenient. We full time RV so, all of our laundry is done in public machines (mostly at small rooms in RV parks). I do love that it's all done so quickly but, having to share a small space is a real problem now. In states that are taking the virus seriously there are signs up saying only one person/household at a time. Which is great. In WY that never had a stay at home order I had to ask a woman to wait until I was done moving my stuff from the washers to dryers since, she was unmasked. When we were getting our stuff out of the dryers another unmasked woman wanted to come into the small room. Nope. I don't wait in the room.

That's another option I guess. Most apt complexes these days have locked doors in to the complex, and another key for the laundry room. At least all the ones my dd has been in the last 3 yrs. I would go. Wash on hot, dry real well.

I wouldn’t say I love the laundromat but it does remind me of my younger days and sometimes that’s a good thing. I don’t mind ours. I have used it on occasion when our washer was broken and when I was overwhelmed by too much laundry and not enough time. It’s bright, there are places to sit, there’s a book exchange area, and all the people I’ve run into have been pleasant. It’s open 24 hours, so there are always times when it’s not so busy.

Are your laundromats open? We ended up installing a washer and dryer for our tenant who didn’t have one in their unit because none of them were open for awhile — not sure about now.
I guess the people who are grossed out by laundromats have never had to live in a big city with many apartments that don’t have in-unit washers/dryers. I’ve never had to go to a laundromat, but I definitely have used shared laundry facilities in high rise buildings. Everyone would rather have their own machines, but it’s often simply not possible.

I have to go to a laundromat. I love mine. Super clean and great owners. I’ve been going to this particular one for years. I wear a mask, they were just made mandatory in my city when indoors. I set a timer on my phone and wait in my car. They have removed all the chairs inside.

We have a large capacity washer and dryer - I'm able to wash 18 bath towels at one time. My mom needed her king size comforter washed and she usually dry cleans it because she has a small washer, but she was afraid to do dry cleaning with covid (immunocompromised). So, I picked it up, washed/dried it and returned it to her.

I bit the bullet and went. Wasnt too bad, fairly clean and not crowded. But, damn $4.75 to wash a load and $.25 for 4 minutes to dry. For some reason, one load took forever to wash, so I dried other loads while waiting for that one machine.

I'd use drop off service, not because of the Rona but because I can't stand waiting around the laundromat.
