Our dog seems to have a sensitive stomach. He spent the day last week at an ER vet and we ended up putting him on Royal Canin gastrointestinal low fat. I'm having a lot of trouble getting more of it currently (a long story that will turn into a tirade.)
I've got a call out to the vet trying to get more because I do not want to change him so quickly since he's doing well. BUT I may be desperate....any recommendations. I do not think salmon agrees with him so that is out.
I'd love a canned foot that is similar to the royal canin if possible so we don't backtrack. Seems to have a pork base. Anyone been here and have a recommendation?
Editing to add: The ER vet gave the food and i'm trying to order through them. The problem is i've been at it since last week and i'm not getting very far. Soooo getting them to get a prescription to someone else just isn't going to happen. Our regular vet wanted the prescription, ugh!
So much as I hate to switch him, I may need an over the counter brand within next few days. Oh yeah and he won't eat rice so the chicken/rice thing doesn't work either. It's been a long couple weeks.

Our vet put our dog on Hill's Science Diet for gastro issues when she was having stomach troubles. You would need your vet to give you a prescription for it which shouldn't be a big deal.

my mom's golden retriever has irritable bowel syndrome. when it flares up, she feeds her plain chicken breasts cut into tiny pieces with white rice (hold the side salad - lol!) on the vet's advice until her symptoms subside. then gradually, transitions back to her regular dog food... not sure what she uses and i would ask but she is out of town at the moment.

Turns out my boy with tummy issues can no longer have chicken. The only kind he can me on is Fromm Pork and Applesauce kibble with canned Royal Canine. You might try the Fromm.

Our dog seems to have a sensitive stomach. She was puking a lot and seemed to get tummy issues where she didn't want to eat. The vet suggested a food with fish protein, which is easier to digest, and she's been mostly fine with it (we use earthborn holistic, not grain free). She can't eat eggs (egg in the kibble is fine) or she'll throw up. If she starts having diarrhea or needs antibiotics we give her yogurt once a day.

You would need your vet to give you a prescription for it which shouldn't be a big deal. one of our shelties would have gastro issues 2-3x per year and our vet recommended Hills Science Diet Sensitive Skin & Stomach. it's a limited-ingredient mix, can be purchased at PetSmart, and has kibble and canned formulas. It worked out for her.

My 5 year old Dane has Acid Reflux! She takes Pepcid (vet prescribed) twice a day and eats Hills sensitive Stomach food (from chewy without prescription), and she rarely throws up anymore.

We had a dog that suffered from colitis. Once we got it under control with prescription Hills Science Diet I.d. we switched her to the Hills Science Diet sensitive stomach. Like other posters mentioned it’s available at most chain pet stores.

Our German Shepherd mix had big time sensitive tummy/bowel issues when we adopted her 5 years ago. Our vet suspected poultry/grains might be the issue. We started her on Natural Balance Limited Ingredient -- Bison and Sweet Potato. It was like night and day. We have to be careful not to give her "treats" and bites of our food and just stick to the kibble. 5 years later and still going strong.

My older dog was put on the same Royal Canin dry food, but the last time I ordered it (through Vet Source), after about a week I got notice that it was on back order and they did not know when it would be available.

If you need some grain/gluten free treats, try these: Wag More. Louis is on grain-free Fromm food because of allergies and he loves those treats!

Grain free can be dangerous for dogs. there is conflicting / inconclusive evidence that a grain-free diet may contribute to heart disease in dogs.

Look into a raw diet. My dog was throwing up frequently I tried the limited ingredient foods. Nothing changed I have been feeding her Instinct raw, since i started her on this months ago she has maybe thrown up once.

We give all 3 dogs greek yogurt every day. Rudy also gets 1/2 acid reducer every 12 hours as needed.
There is a company called Boss Dog that sells a frozen yogurt "treat" that is supposed to help with digestion. I bought the pumpkin and cinnamon one. Rudy ate it up. This was after not wanting to eat for 12+ hours due to his stomach hurting/cramping.
