Well my day just took a dramatic change- masks are now mandatory in my city so I’m sewing masks instead. glad that they are mandatory - wish they were here. Some of the stores are making them mandatory but our government can't be bothered. good luck with the sewing project - I made a bunch back in March/April

Well my day just took a dramatic change- masks are now mandatory in my city so I’m sewing masks instead. I've been learning to sew masks too. Not a lot of success so far lol. I'm so glad the stores are making them mandatory since as Linda said, our government won't step up and try to get this under control. At least our governor who is very much hands off is letting the cities and counties decide. My city and county have a mask mandate, although that doesn't mean people are following it. Finally finished another page today during our hangout crop! I'm going to be hosting these every Sunday now if anyone is interested! Ren , you can count points for mask sewing as well! How's everyone doing this month? It's hot hot hot and humid here, good for staying inside and crafting and no cooking! lol

I've started working on my sister's wedding album. The hangout peas will keep me on track I hope. It's hard to do something like this for someone else.

We had a few horribly hot days last week, the kind where the hot dry weather from the eastern part of the state takes over, no breeze, just brutal because we don’t have AC here. There was a lot of groaning and not much energy. So glad nature’s AC - the Pacific Ocean breezes - came back, but it’s been so drab which also sucks my energy. I’m a fan of the in between weather - clear and sunny but not 90 degrees! Hoping that’s what’s coming back tomorrow.
I so wish that there was a way to count points for selling vintage junk! I spent a lot of time this week working on that (selling stuff for my FIL) and I have a lot more to do. Hopefully if I make lots of progress tomorrow I will be able to relax and do some crafty stuff this weekend.

I finally played with paper this week! Got 3 bd cards and 4 anniversary cards created, and SEVEN pages!
I need to clear off the mess on and around my scrap counter tomorrow so I can switch gears from birthdays, anniversaries, and baseball (Yes, all three are in a jumble here--and so many scraps...). For the Hangout session, I want to be playing with some new Simple Stories Great Escape papers and photos my ddil sent me of her and her dd hiking and camping and gorgeous mountain scenes.

joyfulnana how do I count sewing points? I made 40 masks this week 😬 40 masks! Wow! So the points for time and for each finished mask! Whoo hoo!! Wow grammadee! You’ve done a lot in a short amount of time! gramma we will keep you on track. We can nag you virtually lol. It is very hard to do that type of project for someone else. Sadly I haven’t touched anything since last Sunday. I need the hangouts so I’ll make the time to scrap! joblackford, I would love to live somewhere that I didn’t need A/C. It’s way to hot and humid here. This time of year it’s not even pleasant to be outside. I agree with grammadee, you should count points somehow. You’ve been working a long time to get that stuff sold. That reminds me, did you get all of your mum’s photos and stories organized Linda?

That reminds me, did you get all of your mum’s photos and stories organized Linda? not entirely no...I took a break to work on some of my own stuff but I do need to go back and work on it some more. how do I count sewing points? I made 40 masks this week wow- well done! I finally played with paper this week! Got 3 bd cards and 4 anniversary cards created, and SEVEN pages! so productive! I've done one page today - hoping to get another done. We've been running errands and househunting so my mind has been elsewhere

Well, of course sometimes we DO need AC! And then it’s brutal. My house was 85F at bedtime the other night, 79 in the bedroom with a window fan on medium speed. Once the house hits 79 my energy flags, and over 82 I can barely even stand to sit on the couch. This house was not built for very hot weather. Or cold weather. Lol.
I’m afraid you guys are going to be so sick of hearing me lament selling all this stuff for my FIL. We’ve been working on it for about 6 months, with a 2 month break in the middle for the pandemic lockdown, we’ve sold the sewing and knitting stuff, the dolls, half of the brass, and now we’re on to baskets and bowls and boxes, oh my! And enamelware and crocks. 4 car loads so far? And I’d say we’ve dealt with somewhere between 1% and 5% of the collections that need to be sold. The volume is overwhelming.
My SILs and I have been working on this on and off for a decade - we were allowed to sell the Avon bottle collection (a whole room just of nasty old Avon bottles), the Fiestaware, and some of the Rosewood pottery before MIL passed away. And one SIL has been selling most of the Santa collection and the Glassybaby collection since she died last November. But I could rattle off at least another dozen large collections that need to be dealt with. I’m exhausted just thinking about it!
We sold 6 antique maritime lanterns and a barometer today. I’m trying to be more efficient about it, but I’m glad I can claim some points because this is a lot of work. And I’m trying to do a good job.

joblackford - you are making me glad that we hired an estate sale company to handle the bulk of mum's stuff. Although I suspect you're making more money selling it yourself but SO MUCH work. And yes, househunting - very stressful - we put an offer in and have gotten the inspection report and now have to decide if we want to take on the work/expense of fixing the stuff that was found - some of it we had anticipated (new roof), some we hadn't (electrical issues). We're calling an electrician to get an idea of the ballpark for fixing that before we decide if we want to go ahead or back out.

Linda that’s so exciting!! I saw in the pokey thread you had put an offer on one! joblackford, Um I’m exhausted just reading the list of stuff to be dealt with lol. Old Avon bottles, oh my! One of my Aunts sold Avon when I was young and I had so many of those bottles. It brings back memories. I wish I had a couple of pictures of them to scrap.

We're calling an electrician to get an idea of the ballpark for fixing that before we decide if we want to go ahead or back out. Fingers crossed it’s manageable. Our inspection report sounded like it would cost us a fortune to fix but a lot of the stuff wasn’t as urgent as it sounded, or wasn’t as expensive as expected. But you want your electrical to be done right! Yes, in another context I would’ve just called someone to come out and sell all the stuff off. But since FIL has decided to get rid of it while he’s still around, and to enjoy the house and the things he does like, it sort of makes sense. I think he also wanted to do us a favor, give me something to do (!!) and he doesn’t really trust outsiders not to rip him off. Everything is potentially “very valuable” but he’s not seeing the process - he just gets a handful of cash when we see him and some stories about the people. Some even send photos of the stuff in its new home, which is lovely. Some of the things are so specific it’s going to be tricky to find a way to sell them. There’s a whole cabinet of Southwest Native American “singing mother” storyteller dolls that might give us an excuse to travel to Albuquerque to sell. Lol. One day. And she bought framed prints of pretty much every painting ever done by Rie Muñoz. Some are worth hundreds or maybe thousands... but it’s so many, no one will buy the lot! Anyway, if we can clear out the junk, then we can gradually move the cabinet full of lemon squeezers and the cabinet full of Depression glass and the cabinet full of sour faced old people statues... (face palm)

One of my Aunts sold Avon when I was young and I had so many of those bottles. It brings back memories. I wish I had a couple of pictures of them to scrap. Oh man, it was amazing. If I can find a photo I’ll share, it might bring back some happy memories (not for me, only traumatic dust/smell memories for me). It was a huge carload - 16 boxes full. The lady who bought it never paid us and we didn’t care - we were just SO HAPPY to get rid of it. They bought them all at yard sales, built shelves around the walls to display it all. People still sell them - you can probably find photos online to scrap... FIL had a cool tin of animal crackers in the last load. With the biscuits still inside. From 1979. The Avon room was like that too. Collectible cracker tins with the 40yo crackers inside, and some of the perfumes were still full and so rancid.

Ugh. old crackers? lol. Were they mummified? I remember those tins though! I'm definitely going to find photos of Avon bottles and document that. At some point in the next 5 years lol.
How's everyone doing? Sorry I've mia. I'm afraid to jinx it, but things at work seem to be slowing down a bit. Hopefully August will be an active, productive month for me.
I'll need your July points in the next few days!

I have 166 points for July. Most of them are from organizing supplies & photos but I did get 3 pages done this week which more than I've made in a while. linda - good luck with the house hunting. joblackford - I'm glad it cooled off! It's nice not needing an a/c most of the time. Continued luck selling all that stuff for your FIL. @ren - That's great you made so many masks. I should learn how to sew clothes and try making them.

I did not keep track well at all this month! So I will do my calculations here... I have 170 points for virus diaries pages 156 for cards 8 points for photo challenge 45 points for finishing my crochet blanket and I'm going to say 50 points (estimate) for time spent photographing and organizing stuff to sell and another 20 organizing/clean up points = which is a total of 449.
I'll try to do a better job of actually keeping track next month!
