Hey joblackford , Ren, christinec68 , teacherlisa , boymom5 , natscraps , KikiPea , Linda , gmcwife1 , @bdhardy , scrapperal ! Welcome to the July Challenges. "May the odds be ever in your favor" goes through my head everytime I say that lol. As always, I have high hopes for a productive month for myself, we'll see how that pans out! I'm excited that today is the last work day for the week even though I have no real plans. I would imagine DGS will be here for at least part of the weekend. I'm ok with a quiet weekend. I'm always ok with that since I'm such an introvert and besides my stash misses me lol! I'm in the AD sketch class and 4 weeks behind so that will be my focus this month, catching up. I have sooooo many classes that I have either never started or not finished, that I really want to complete this one. Linda you have started us off with a bang! Here's to fun and creativity! I noticed we have a couple of people new to the challenges, don't hesitate to ask questions and please don't put any pressure on yourself to get a lot of points. It's all for fun and to keep us creating. We all know life happens

Happy July!! Thank you for hosting the team. I laughed at the Hunger Games reference. ha!
I am hoping this will kick start my scrapping as I haven't really done anything in weeks. I am WFH in my craft room but I am clearing all evidence of the office at 5:01 pm and setting it up as my scrap table for the next 3/4 days so I have less excuses.
Happy Scrapping Everyone!

I dragged @ theredwren into our craziness! Welcome RenI am so close to getting my virus diaries finished, my notebook is really full! I just need to add journaling to a few more pages, and write an introduction to explain what I had hoped this book would be, which obviously is best done last! Lol. And then I want to pack that all away, recycle the extra stuff I didn’t use, and get started in Scrappy Christmas in July. I’m going to decide whether to do a mini DD type of album or just let it go for 2019 and work in Christmas cards instead. My punny card inventory is also shockingly low, I have barely made a card for my shop in a couple of months, and I have new stamps and dies that I haven’t used yet, so I really should get myself back to cardmaking! So, goals. I have many. But I also feel like we are living in the Hunger Games... I don’t call them murder hornets, I call them Tracker Jackers... It’s all a bit much sometimes, even though my life is relatively unchanged. So we’ll see how the month pans out. June was gone in the blink of an eye.

joblackford I think tracker jackets too. Ha! But it’s been slow going for me...May 31st feels like it was months ago. Welcome @ren to the challenge! It’s fun and easy and absolutely no pressure! Enjoy!

But it’s been slow going for me...May 31st feels like it was months ago. It's that paradox of time where you turn around and say "what do you mean my next dental cleaning will be on Jan 8th 2021?!" because how can that be 6 months away when it still feels like May? It feels like we've been in iso forever, foreeeever... but at the same time I swear I only just got used to the idea that it was June, and now it's JUly. My brain is so confused...

Hello! Very new to the challenges! I’m mainly a pocket scraper so I’ll no doubt need some guidance on how to work out points! My main goal this month is to finish my 2019 December daily. It’s gone on too long!

I am WFH in my craft room but I am clearing all evidence of the office at 5:01 pm and setting it up as my scrap table for the next 3/4 days so I have less excuses. I had my craft space sharing my office and I had to move the crafting out. That was the last place I wanted to spend time on the weekends. I think a room divider would probably help with that though. I need a way to keep work out of my line of sight lol. Ren pocket pages are fine! We welcome all forms of pages! I need to finish my PL 2019 as well. I only have December left. I use the PL app for it. I need to get the pages printed. joblackford, my life has changed very little as well. I already work from home, and weird hours. The biggest thing for me has been the shortened hours at all the stores. I'm forced to do all my shopping on the weekend now. Other that, not a big change. It feel like we are in some sort of time warp. March was 3 years long and now boom it's July! But 2020 on the whole feels like a decade already. It's crazy all the things that were going on back in January that seem like they happened years ago! I'm going to get some things done here today with extra day off and then hopefully do a lot of scrapping this weekend. I have got to get started on my COVID documenting. I bought quite a bit of the papers and things that were being sold back in April. I think I will use the AD sketch class as a way to kill two birds with one stone! ha!

Hello! Very new to the challenges! I’m mainly a pocket scraper so I’ll no doubt need some guidance on how to work out points! My main goal this month is to finish my 2019 December daily. It’s gone on too long! I'm pretty sure people just treat each pocket page as a layout and count the points as if it was stuck down to a sheet of paper. So if you're doing easy peasy you just get 20 points for each 12x12 pocket page or 15 points for each 6x8 (?I think that's right). Or if you're counting challenge points you can count a point for each challenge you met on the page - double counting is encouraged, so if you meet 10 or 12 or more challenges on one pocket page that's totally fine. It will make more sense once you start! And we're all happy to help. Easy peasy is the fastest/easiest way to count, but you can always test-count your first few pages against the challenges and see which one will work in your favor.

I haven't touched my pages for the past two months! So I'm ready this month to get back to it! My goal is to start working on our school book so it will be done before we begin next year. We'll see though!

I'm hoping to get a ton of scrapping done this weekend - we have no plans and all the errands got done yesterday. Fair warning - my totals won't even approach last month's - sorry. That weeklong double points crop really made all the difference.
goals for this weekend - finish up June 2020 (the last of my photos arrived yesterday) and hopefully make a dent in May

That weeklong double points crop really made all the difference. Yeah, it did! I was calculating my June points and worrying that I had gotten them wrong because it seemed too high, and then I looked at your tally ! double double points is something else. My goal is to finish my virus diaries this weekend.

Well then I guess we need another week long crop in July since you are both on my team this month I haven't had as much quiet time as I thought I would have this weekend so far. But it's looking good from now until tomorrow. Pretty much all of the fireworks displays have been cancelled here. And honestly, it just doesn't feel festive. I'm going to plan pages and print photos tonight. I did pop into Joann's and picked up a bunch of the embellishments for Shimelle's never grow up. I already have quiet a bit of the paper. Linda what a great start this month! I'm planning Covid pages too.

Thanks joyfulnanaOur fireworks switched to drive-in (stay in your car) but we're still not going plus it's pouring. We did an indoor cookout with hotdogs and hamburgers, watermelon, potato salad, and brownies and did a patriotic singalong afterwards - just a handful of songs but I felt like it was important to do something.

Our neighborhood sounded like a war zone, despite it not being legal to explode fireworks... We visited with a family member we have barely seen since March and his daughter, but she also brought a couple who are part of her "bubble" which wasn't what I was expecting... I wore a mask the whole time but no one else did (they had them in their pockets). They kept their distance, and we were outside most of the time, but I wasn't too happy. I'd asked my husband if he thought this relative was being careful and he was pretty confident he was, but then we found that he didn't have soap in his bathroom, doesn't really believe in it, so yeah... If you're not washing your hands you're not doing anything right, IMO. Cases are climbing in our county, mostly in care facilities, but numbers are very low, thankfully, so I'm not really worried that anyone has been exposed. But I'm not going to trust other people's judgements going forward. I'm still really annoyed about the whole thing. And adding to that my phone has been acting up really badly this weekend, and today I decided to factory reset it. It doesn't even seem able to erase itself... I am not a happy camper. PMS too. I guess I will have to use my real camera or scanner to share projects, if I can cheer up enough to get anything finished. I'm going to go grump somewhere else now! sigh

Linda your holiday sounds like it was fun! Even with the rain. joblackford I'm sorry your day turned out so stressful! I have my bubble of three and so far none of us are willing to break it. We seem to be the only people in either of our extended families that are taking this seriously. I would have been so upset at people I wasn't expecting and no masks. I hope you're having a better week and are feeling better. My quiet day didn't last. Any time DGS is at his Dad's they end up spending a good chunk of the weekend with me. It was like a war zone here too. So much thick smoke, you could barely see. But I love the smell of fireworks! I have done exactly zero crafting so far this month. I took another long weekend starting tomorrow and I'm not telling anyone I have those days off lol! I want to curl up with my supplies and see what I can get done. I haven't scrapped since early June, I'm getting a little cranky about it! I hope everyone is having an awesome week!

Yeah, I knew his late wife didn’t wash her hands, pretty much ever, but I didn’t realize he was just as bad. I’m no germaphobe and I’m disturbed. His son and daughter in law are, so they must be absolutely horrified. She buys soap every time she visits. My phone has now decided to behave just as my new phone is delivered today. Typical. But very good news - I made some cards! And I’m making more today! And I can take photos now that my phone is working and share them!

Yay! for new phones! My new phone came Thursday. What should have been an easy set up took about 4 hours. I did get some crafting time in yesterday and finished a LO. My first since early June! Today will be the errands I've been putting off. Groceries, stopping by the post office and shipping some gifts to my niece. I need to get some pages planned. Somehow a whole day crafting never happens. I get distracted by all there is to do.

Hey everyone! I hope you’re all going well. I feel I’m letting the team down a bit as this new lockdown has completely thrown me and I haven’t done any scrapping in July 😩 I hope to get something done this week! I found out on the weekend I’m back to remote learning with my kids for the next 5 weeks too.

Aw Ren don't sweat it! I'm so sorry you are back in lockdown, but I sure wish we were too. Some months are just that way, and you aren't letting anyone down! So stop with that thinking. It's all for fun and encouragement! Although it took me a lot of months to finally let that sink in lol! How's it going in everyone's part of the world? I got out the photos I took during January to start my covid pages and I was surprised. Reading the Persnickety print out and looking at my photos, it's clear it hadn't become a concern here in my life yet, other than just keeping an eye on the headlines. I looked quite oblivious in January.

Yes - January was super overwhelming for me for non-pandemic reasons (I spent most of it in Rhode Island cleaning out mum's house) and I don't think I even caught headlines until February.

Hey Ren seriously, don’t even worry about it. I hope you can craft because crafting is fun, but don’t feel stressed about points or anything like that. You’ve been thrown right back into the chaos again. I was schooled on the seriousness of the virus right here, by our good friend Ms Booty, after there was a discussion about kits and supplies not being available, I believe it was Jan 31. I screenshot it and put it in my virus diaries (which I just finished! Happy dance!) I had heard some stuff about the virus in China, and then Iran, but I hadn’t yet realized how it was spreading through Europe. And of course none of us knew it was already spreading in the US too. I’m glad I said something oblivious and optimistic so Booty could set me straight, which led me to pay a LOT more attention. Our state had the first known case on US soil and then the first known death in US soil (2 different people) so we were made aware of it a little sooner than some Americans. My SIL’s school district had the case that was found by accident by the Seattle Flu Study (against govt and ethics rules the study tested some swabs it had taken to study the flu and found a kid had it who had no ties to overseas travel, which was how they realized WA had community transmission in Feb-March, right around when the Life Care Center outbreak started and lots of people died and everything went crazy - it was an interesting story, I can link if you haven’t read about it). I was glad I documented all this and figured out the timeline. I was pretty self-absorbed in our trip planning in Feb and March, and then sad after it got cancelled, but during that period I was journaling a lot because I was concerned and frustrated, so I was able to piece a lot together.

Hey guys how's it going? I'm groggy after a 2 hour nap lol. I always sleep hard when I sleep during the day and it seems to take longer to get going again. I'm going to try and finish my page for this weeks sketch before I go across the street for movie night with my boys. joblackford, I remember reading booty's warning posts as well and it really sank in how huge this would be when Italy locked down. I have a photo dated February 2nd I think that was about SuperBowl Sunday and a screenshot on the 3rd of Hong Kong going into lockdown. But I don't think Hong Kong phased me much. I was looking at photos of my DGS at Disney in January with his cousins. I hate it that he is not able to see any of his cousins, or friends. His childhood looks very different and it makes me sad. Anyway, on a brighter note, is anyone doing any crafting this weekend? I have plans to crop tomorrow and will host a virtual crop to hold me to it! lol.

I'm doing genealogy right now not scrapping but I did pick up some clearance cardstock at HL today when I went in for more yarn for DD20's knitting project and a new album for me. I got a photo order today so will get back to scrapping probably tomorrow or Monday
DH's office, which had gone back to having everyone work in the office, is back to working from home. He's one of only a couple of exceptions and will keep working at the office.

I just spent the day puttering at my desk while watching Shimelle and Layle’s live classes (Shimelle’s from yesterday, Layle’s from this morning). I didn’t do anything much except write a few things in my planner and use a few rub-ons. The AC rub-ons from Sparkle City don’t seem to be holding up very well. I bought one set and used them and they were great, then bought another set several months later and now they’re sticking and not going down cleanly. Pretty disappointing. I know they have a shelf life but that’s not long. Oh well, they work fine in my planner for a little color and deco.
I guess I did make 2 sets of kitty cards for my shop. That’s not nothing. The rate I’m going I’m going to have to actually go to Joann’s before the end of the year and get some more kitty paper. It’s the only product I have that sells consistently in my shop. Lucky it’s very easy and the paper is (touch wood) always available.
I’m between projects. I haven’t started my next crochet blanket, I stopped doing Procreate drawings after the 100 days ended, I don’t have a scrapbook going, and I haven’t really felt like making cards lately. I’ll get back to it all eventually... I did get inspired by a digital scrap project the other day.
