I haven't spent Christmas with my family in almost 20 years, We've had tickets bought for Canada for ages and hope to get to go. We are having passport issues and pandemic concerns. There are rumours here that the border might be closed for a year or so.

We are having our back deck replaced and house painting this month. And a hot tub installed. It was in the plans already but got moved up once our two trips to see family were cancelled this summer. Looking forward to a new relaxing area since I think it will be the place we can escape for the foreseeable future.

I’m looking forward to dd3 coming home to visit this weekend. She has a dentist appointment Friday so she’s coming over- she lives on the other side of our state for college and has a job so she lives there full time. I haven’t seen her since February!
Also looking forward to a piece of furniture I ordered online to arrive next week. I’ve been working on fixing up a bedroom during our stay home order and this is the last thing I need to complete it.
And finally, I’m looking forward to a favorite restaurant opening. The whole thing is a bar so I think that’s why it isn’t open. Hopefully soon.

We made a little mini deck that was just finished and we are really enjoying but wished we had a hot tub!

3 months ago I ordered a cheap hydroponic vat from wish.com. It finally came today. I am beyond excited to try it. I also bought some teff to make injira. We shall see how my science experiments go.
ETA: The weck jars I ordered for my homegrown sourdough starter are also ready for pickup.

I haven't spent Christmas with my family in almost 20 years, We've had tickets bought for Canada for ages and hope to get to go. We are having passport issues and pandemic concerns. My passport expires in a couple of months, and was wondering how things were going. Are things just taking way more time right now? I have no travel plans immediately, so I'll probably just wait on renewing. I'm taking 2 weeks in July off and going to my parents. We plan on doing nothing, because they live in a part of the State with exploding cases right now, but they have their own in ground pool and the weather will be hot. So no need to do a thing! It'll be a great. I mailed in my passport for a renewal on March 10th so right before the world shut down. I just got my new one in the mail last Wednesday and my ID card last Friday.

The Art Gallery of Ontario has just opened and is taking members only for the first 2 weeks. And 2 of their exhibits I thought would be gone are still here. We have admission time reserved for when they first open Saturday morning. Squeee! I have not been out of the house to anything for fun since March, and I was so sad that I would miss these exhibits. I'm a little nervous as I haven't been in the city since early March but everyone has to wear a mask and we probably won't stay for lunch. Guys, I am so excited.
I have a vague hope of going to Vancouver and driving the sunshine coast in late September to celebrate finishing my dissertation, but it all depends on BC opening their borders to other provinces (are all of the states open now?).

I'm looking forward to my next trip to see that little precious grand son. We also have a small bachelorette gathering for another DIL-to-be followed by their wedding in August --- fingers crossed that it all actually happens. Nothing seems certain any more.

Well that's a much more worthwhile goal than what I wrote. Wow, I read the article. And I don't know what to say. I'm sorry. That's beyond awful.

Nothing! I am very happy!!!! My dad had his second surgery and I have to admit I am content. That means my serious stress throughout the last year is gone. If I had to look forward to something it’s very small and minor as I am content.

On my very best of days I think joy is the biggest show of resistance to racist MF’ers but I’m supposed to be packing and I hate packing so blah mood 😣. I do hope the last leg of your dissertation is easy peasy and the world opens back enough that you can celebrate such an accomplishment.

I’m getting a new summerhouse/garden building/ log cabin built at the end of the month. I’m so looking forward to having some additional space! And I can’t wait until winter when I can sit in my rocking chair in its open doorway, all wrapped up, with my Kindle and a big mug of hot chocolate! And I am really looking forward to getting my house back to normal. It’s looked like an episode of Hoarders recently. My DD moved in with her fiancée last Thursday, (it was meant to happen at the end of March), so her stuff has been packed away for weeks and weeks, and distributed all over the house. XDH has been emptying our old home as we finally got around to selling it (five years after we separated!), so lots of stuff has migrated to my house. And because my DD has taken the car with her, the 20 or so large bags of stuff for charity, which have been stored in the car since March, had to come back into the house. The charity shops here are not planning on opening until the beginning of August, and as I don’t have a car just now, the stuff needs to be in the house instead.

So far my hysterectomy is still scheduled for July 15. If COVID doesn’t cancel it, I’m looking forward to the end of monthly pain and crime scene periods that make me nervous to leave the house.

My DS12 going back to school like normal--small private school and they are starting full time on their scheduled start date.
Maybe getting to do something resembling a vacation...
Being able to make plans/schedules without having to wait for official announcements--waiting to see if DS15's district will allow football or marching band, both of which take up the 3 weeks of August before school starts.
Seeing extended family...
Listening to Cubs baseball games and watching Husker football games...

A shower. I'm out running errands today. Between the summer heat, the mask, the general ick factor from touching things and being in stores near other people, and the stickiness of the hand sanitizer, I am so done with this day.

Our deck has boards that are rotten and railings that I wouldn't trust, so we haven't been using it. DH has begun the process of replacing the boards and railings. I'm going to be beyond excited when we can use the deck. My next door neighbors have a full outdoor living area on their deck and I'm totally jealous.

I've got a really good dinner planned for today! Just waiting on the energy to make it.
Update to say, I was missing an ingredient so I made something else. Guess I'll be looking forward to having the really good dinner tomorrow instead!

my mother in law and her sister are coming tonight to the resort town dh and I are staying at. it is dh's birthday on friday, and they told us that they are doing dinner for the next 4 nights. so I don't have to think about it (probably going out to eat--at outside venues).. and we are knee deep in decisions for a condo remodel.. so meeting with architect and builder tomorrow.. then going to the dump.. big day.
