Fuck all the publications that aren’t calling her the child rapist she was. I don’t care they eventually married. He was 12 and she was 34. She had two kids with him before he was 15. She was a convicted child rapist. My thoughts exactly. If it were a male, people wouldn’t be sad. They would be cheering. This woman was so mentally ill. I feel bad for the children, Villi included. His idea of love and relationships is fractured because of her. I saw a quote today where he said he wasn’t in his right thinking when their affair started. Um, this is not on you villi. You were a 12 year child. I think people muddle the line because when he was legally old enough to consent, he chose her. But that’s where he’s fractured. He doesn’t have the same ability as everyone else to decide what is a healthy relationship and what isn’t.

Not a heroine in a tragic lovestory with a somewhat happy ending. I find it disturbing to attach such a description to this story.

THEIR children. I’m really annoyed everybody keeps saying ‘her children’ in reaction to her death. They are his children too. 😡 I said “her children” because she had 4 children with her ex.

She isn't a hero and this wasn't a tragic love story. It was a perverse and creepy story about a female predator and a young boy. She abandoned her 4 children and I can only imagine the life they must have had knowing that their mother abandoned them for a predatory relationship.
I am not sad that she's gone. She never should have been let out of prison, in the first place.

She had groomed him so well. She continues to groom him as her trial was going on and she ended up pregnant again. Then once out of prison, more grooming as they married. Her mind was that of a true pedophile who could not stop.

i know all that she did but i don't see the point in trashing her in death. she died of cancer. i wouldn't wish that on anyone. for those who believe in Karma, well, there you go.

When people do terrible things like rape a 12 year-old and make him a father at 14, it's okay to talk about what she did during her time on earth. Death does not change that. It's not wrong to have a conversation about how disgusting that was. What is wrong is to normalize this predatory relationship.

Just because I don't call her a rapist pedophile doesn't mean I'm normalizing, condoning, or even understanding how/why she did what she did. To ME, she's dead so it's done. I have no problem with people having a conversation about her deeds. Have sat it. But, again, to ME, the saga of Mary Kay is over. No further stomping need. I'm just sad for her kids.

I still don’t watch Entertainment Tonight because they paid for their wedding so they can report on it. Blah 😒 Wow, I didn't know this. I think Mary Kay LeTourneau being a white woman with a non-white victim is the only reason she got the treatment that she did. Without a doubt being an attractive white woman worked in her favor. She had groomed him so well. She continues to groom him as her trial was going on and she ended up pregnant again. Then once out of prison, more grooming as they married. Her mind was that of a true pedophile who could not stop. She really wasn't any different than Jaycee Dugard's abductor and rapist.

I totally misread your karma comment. Sorry I think I get dumber as I age or I see things that aren't there. I read that as you saying don't trash someone when they are dead bc karma! Not that she got hers. My apologies.

I too hope all of the children will be okay. I am sure the two daughters loved their parents and it was a normal situation to them because that is all they knew. I hope now that she is gone and Vili is hopefully dating women of an appropriate age, their life will be healthier from now on. I would think the original 4 children would have gone through hell with their mother's abandonment and the very public way it was done. I don't know if Mary Kay maintained a relationship with them, but I hope there is a healthy mother figure in their lives now.

When I hear Mary Kay LeTourneau's name I always think about one of my classmates in Jr. High who was harassed by one of our male teachers. She was not interested in him, but he openly flirted with her and eventually, the whole town was gossiping about it. I don't know what happened, but he and his wife ended up moving to Colorado in the middle of the school year. On his last day of school, my friend claimed to be sick and stayed home by herself. He came by her house to say good by. My friend never told us exactly what he said to her or how it made her feel. When she told us he came by her house to say "good by" we just said "gross!" We were just kids and although we knew his actions were inappropriate we didn't realize how truly inappropriate and disgusting they were. We didn't know about sexual harassment and the damage it can inflict. I sometimes wish I were still in touch with her and could tell her how truly sorry I am that she went through such a terrible experience and had virtually no support from her friends. I don't think any of the counselors at school reached out to her either. The whole thing was just swept under the rug.

I wonder how messed up Vili is, does he have a warped sense of relationships? Is he somewhat normal? I think she did a number on him mentally and I hope she had tremendous guilt up until her dying breath.

I wonder how he's going to navigate life without her now. She's been omnipresent almost the entire thing. I wonder if she laid on so many guilt trips on the guy that he never could possibly wrest himself away from her. Even though they..divorced? He was by her side at the end. I can't imagine how messed up in the head he must be. That guy never had a chance at a normal life.
I hope he can step away from her shadow now and start to rebuild his life and have some sort of normalcy.

She really did and it seems like the other adults in his life really failed him.

I don't think any of the counselors at school reached out to her either. The whole thing was just swept under the rug. Something similar happened here. We had a male middle school teacher-he’s my age, I went to high school with him. He taught 8th grade and had a “special friendship” with a student who’s parents were completely ok with! This went on until someone reported it to the school and it was investigated and he was arrested and fired. The parents claimed he was taking out to study. Somehow it was discovered that that was not true. He’s in jail now. It boggles my mind on what parents will accept as truth. I was sexually abused so maybe I’m hyper vigilant but I’d like to think any normal person would question that.

Lol Thanks for understanding! I've got a terrible combination of old and also easily distracted. Now that I understand what you meant, I get how you feel. And I do feel sorry for her kids -- both the ones she had with her ex and Vili. From what I saw on FB, it appears her kids form her first marriage have a relationship with her kids from Vili. Somehow the kids managed to make it work. Oops just watched the documentary on her and amazing that her kids did have a good relationship
