My DH and I have expanded our bubble to include my MIL. She lives alone and quarantines and we stay at home with the exception of DH getting both sets of groceries each week. She’s downsizing her house shortly and has a lifetime of accumulated stuff to go through so we’ve been helping. Other than that, I’ve had 3 girlfriend over twice for a social distance lunch. We eat separately bagged takeout on my deck, maintaining at least 6 ft, masks on except for eating.

We saw my parents for the last time on March 8 (my son's birthday party). My dad has REALLY bad just barely controlled with 3 meds asthma and my mom is a 3 years our cancer survivor. We won't see my parents until they're ready. My kids can't socially distance so I think it's going to be a while. We saw my MIL when she came by unannounced to ask if I had some fabric she could use to make masks. She stood 6' away from the door and I tossed her the stuff to make them. No clue how long ago that was. She was on FaceTime with my kids (8 and 4) on Monday and told them that she had a get together with people from her trailer park on July 4 and they weren't wearing masks because they've all been hanging out together this whole time. Then one of the people there got pneumonia a few days later and was tested for Covid when he went for DIALYSIS (!!!) and it came back positive so she's staying home since she was exposed. UGH! SERIOUSLY! AND SHE TOLD MY KIDS THIS! We had a conversation about being responsible and making good choices to stay healthy. We saw my FIL and his wife on Father's Day at his place OUTSIDE for a bbq. They live in the same county as us and further up the hill. We have a total of 72 cases NOW (I think we were at like 39 Father's Day) with no fatalities. My county is VERY sparsely populated- we have under 45K TOTAL people in the entire county! I've been going to my classroom and seeing the teachers who work with me but we stay outside and distance. Some mask up, some do not. When I'm out and shopping I'm ALWAYS masked up. I was hoping to see my parents before we go back to school but we haven't been staying home. Dental appointments yesterday, porch drop off for my cousin friday, meeting another friend to give her something she had me make the same day. DH will go grocery shopping next week. It sucks. I want to see them soooo badly! They're seeing my sisters family who lives nearby because they're not going anywhere and if they're in the front yard and people walk by, they go into the house.

We have seen my parents and MIL. They live nearby and don't go anywhere except the store. However, DH works from home, and I am home for the summer. Once I have to go back to work in the schools, we will have to stop seeing them. Devastating. My mom is really depressed.

I see my mom and one friend several times a week. My "bubble" consists of only people who are as vigilant about following the CDC guidelines as we are. We are all following social distancing/masking and staying home other than essential grocery trips (since March). We do spend most of our time together outdoors. Over the weekend, we got together with another friend (who is also vigilant about following the guidelines because she's a cancer survivor) and shared a bottle of wine for a couple of hours in my mom's back yard - it was so nice.

Our families are all in the UK, I'm starting to think I'll never see my dad again Oh Lainey, I cried reading this. My grandmother in Germany turned 90 last week, we were supposed to go for her birthday and I don't know if I will ever see her again either. Big hugs to you...

Well, we WERE. My step son and his wife decided to start sending my granddaughter back to daycare without letting the rest of us know. We had her over the weekend, took her to our cottage and included her in our "bubble". THEN he called the day after we brought her home and said that she needed to be tested because she had a fever and had been in child care. We were like " fut the wuck - when did you start sending her to daycare?" So now . . . we're back in quarantine again while we wait for her test results. I'm so mad at him I could spit . . . just more selfish behavior from this one. Typical. Not sure why I'm surprised. I'm POSITIVE he doesn't take her around his mother, who is a lung cancer survivor, but he's got no problem dumping her on us without a thought to letting us know the relevant details. At least he and his wife got their weekend away. grumblegrumblegrumble

I don't blame you at all for feeling bitter and pissed. I'm so sorry your stepson was so stupid and selfish.
By the way, I can't decide which phrase I like better, "At the corner of Awesome and Bombdiggity" in your profile, or a new contender, "fut the wuck!"

We see my parents. They've come to our home and we've been to theirs. For the most part we're still all staying pretty close to home. No one is going to restaurants, we're doing order pickup, and we're not socializing in other people's homes so I feel safe seeing them.
My brother works for us so we're still seeing him but not his wife and baby.
My in laws are much more willy-nilly about their activities so we do not really see them. We've met up with them a couple of times outside at social distance but now it's too hot.

I saw both my aunts a couple weeks ago, I was dropping something off. I stood outside, they were on the porch, so more than 6ft apart. I won't see my BFF. Her family hasn't been socially distancing at all, and that's their choice, though I disagree with it. It's my choice not to see her. Her birthday is tomorrow and I'm dropping her gift off on her front stoop, yelling 'HAPPY BIRTHDAY' and driving way.

I’ve done backyard masked and distanced visits with my parents. We can walk right into the backyard without going through the house and there are chairs already set up far apart. I have not been inside their home since early March and we used to have weekly dinners together.

My sister and her kids came to visit a few weeks ago and I was nervous the whole time because they had runny noses and coughs. My mom and stepdad are being very cautious and we haven’t seen them since Christmas. All of our family lives out of state. We do see friends now at baseball but do try our best to keep our distance.

My sister’s family comes by once a week and we chat outside on the porch. My daughter has come by twice for an outdoor visit. I hung out with my brother and other siblings at a park awhile ago. No indoor visits ever and we try to social distance.

I have a couple of friends in the neighborhood with whom I've gone on masked-and-distanced walks in the park. That's it. I will take the subway to go to my job, but I won't take public transport just for fun. I wish I didn't have to take it at all. My parents live in a current hotspot several states away, and they are at severe health risk. I'm worried about when I will see them again - maybe not for a year. My ILs are also at risk, and not just because of age.

It's been a year since I saw/visited my parents as they live in another country, I call them regularly but since Covid I've rung them every day.
A good family friend died and the funeral is being streamed I just mentioned to my dh that there is a possibility I might get to see my parents at the service. Was a bit choked up at the idea.

We saw my inlaws at an outdoor restaurant. I think my MIL is also planning on visiting in the next couple weeks. My parents have been very careful, but my mom is so done and really wants to see my daughter before she heads to college, so I anticipate them visiting sometime in the next couple weeks. Our bubble includes my daughter's boyfriend and a couple friends. Otherwise it's all socially distant visiting outdoors.

Yes. My boys are both grown. I've been seeing them since about April. Even went on a vacation together. I haven't seen my mom, but I don't really see her much anyway. My MIL has been gone since December, but I'll probably see her next month as she's coming home form PA. Went on a trip with my sister and her kids, I think my husband and I are about all she trusts spending time with.

No, our parents are out of town, 3-5 hrs. away, so this isn't very different for us. My inlaws have an apt. 30 min. away as their second home, so they are out all the time. But I don't want to see any at this point because I don't want to put them at risk. My college kids work in health care (nurse internship and pct) so they are at risk. We call often and have skyped! They enjoy that. We did stop by my parents on the way to vacation to drop off clorox wipes, hand sanitizer, etc. We would not go in the house and visited in the yard for about 20 min.
I have walked with my neighbor the past month. We stay over 6 ft. away (she is caring for a 96 yr. old parent).

My inlaws won’t stay away. We see them once a week at least. 🙄 I keep my distance. No hugs.
We see friends maybe once a week. We have done a socially distant outdoor movie with our closest friends (all one family). That was pretty fun.
Today we did a physically distant Girl Scout meeting in person. My co-leader bought hula-hoops for each girl. We spread them far apart on a tennis court. The girls were thrilled to see each other again, and did a fantastic job staying apart.
Last weekend I did a physically distant happy hour with 6 of my best friends. Even our high risk friend came to that. So good to see her!!!

I stayed with my brother for two weeks after his wife died of cancer a few weeks ago and will be going back fairly soon. My other brother and wife came while I was there. It was so incredibly wonderful to see them!! It makes me cry to think about it. The brother and wife that visited also are immunocompromised so all of us were ok. (I am somewhat but not as much as db. All three of us (sibs and spouses) have been very very careful.) Other than that - nobody but dh who lives with me and has been working from home!
Oh! I did see dd. I took her some items she wanted. I put them in the back of the van and she got them out when I arrived and we spoke from there. No real contact.
Not seeing and hugging loved ones is so incredibly hard.

I’ve seen my MIL a few times. She lives about 70 minutes away in a smaller coastal town. I’ve driven out a couple times to bring her groceries when we didn’t want her going to the store. (And once I didn’t get the address on the amazon order switched🤦🏼♀️ for her Ensure order)
Once DH, DD and I all went out to surprise her with a baby kitten. Her cat passed in October and she was just saying in February at DD’s birthday that she might be ready for another one and then we had to SIP. So, we found someone who had kittens and got all the necessities and drove it out. My DH said it was so hard to not give his mom a hug.
But other than that, nope.

I do spend time with my closest friends, as do my teenagers. They have friends over to swim a lot. My girlfriends and I got together last week for a meal and to watch Hamilton together. I hug them. We do not wear masks with each other. There is a wedding this weekend I am not going to miss. It's the daughter of my closest girlfriend. It's outdoors so if I can sit near just my daughter I will probably not mask, if we have to sit all close together I will.

The bulk of my family works together, so we are already a part of the same bubble. That being said, any time we have gotten together socially it is always outside.
We did get together (again, outside) with DH’s family on Sunday, but his mom didn’t come.
Our cases were getting crazy for a bit, but they’ve dropped down the last couple of days. I’m hoping it’s a trend related to the mandatory mask order in a few places in our state, including my county. 🤞🏻 If not, and they continue to rise, I’ll be reconsidering outside gatherings.

I drove 8 hours to see my family in Texas. I planned it out where I got an oil change 3 weeks before leaving. SIP for 2 weeks prior to leaving and only went to my parents and sister's house (they see each other all the time anyway).
During the drive, I did not stop for food. Used rest stops and luckily was the only one in there each time I stopped and used the most isolated gas pump. I brought masks, gloves, lysol wipes, hand wipes and hand sanitizer.
I am now back home and finishing my second week of SIP. It was all worth it to me. My parents health is poor and I haven't seen them since last Thanksgiving.

My husband's parents.
At first they were blowing it off as hype and taking unnecessary risks. So we were avoiding direct contact with them.
But then they had a close call with exposure witin their social circle and after testing and quarantining, they are being exceptionally diligent about only leaving home for very necessary errands, wearing masks, social distancing, etc...
So we see each other in person once a week or so now.
