Congrats! I hope that your recovery also goes smoothly and quickly.
I also try to wisecrack after they have wheeled me in to the OR - by then they have given me some good anti-anxiety stuff in my I.v. and I am able to joke again. Then it is lights out until recovery.

Get well soon! And welcome to the I Can Now Wear White Pants Anytime Club. The first thing I’m going to do when I get home is throw away my giant overnight pads and leakproof period panties because even those giant pads would overflow. TMI warning: My surgeon was just in to check on me and told me that I had a six centimeter fibroid in the back of my uterus and two smaller ones in front. My uterus weighed 360 grams, which is apparently more than 4 times the normal weight. So I lost a little weight. 😂 She’s going to bring pictures to show me in the morning.

I had my long-awaited hysterectomy this morning! No complications. They took my uterus, cervix, and fallopian tubes, but left my ovaries. All laparoscopic. I’m managing pain OK but boy do I miss the days of the good pain drugs! 😂😇 They gave me much better stuff after my c-sections. It’s so funny the way you’re making jokes with the anesthetist one moment and you wake up in recovery the next. I’ve never had general anesthetic before so that was new. Sending quick healing thoughts.

The Always pad company probably had to lay off a dozen employees because of lost revenue from me no longer buying cart fulls of overnight pads. It was sad to see the period panties go. But sorry not sorry. Need the room for new pretty, panties. Yeah, good bye to the golf ball sized ovarian cysts too. Don't miss doubling over in pain.

I was just thinking today it's been so long since i've had a period ...had same surgery as you last April with the additional of taking my ovaries too. Can't say that I miss any of it, lol. I think the worst of the recovery is that you're so limited with what you can pick up weight wise. Having the cervix removed brings on additional restrictions on what you can do while you heal. I hated having to be careful not to pick up things. Hopefully you'll be home and healing soon.

Had the same surgery (DaVinci) in 2012 due to fibroids that grew beyond my uterus quickly. I've been thru dozens of surgeries under general anesthesia. I'm so glad that yours went well. Listen to the healing guidelines and be careful!! BTW, I agree about good drugs. Every major surgery I've gotten in the past 10 years or so, they send me home with a few oxycontin, which does absolutely nothing for me!! Even oxymorphone does nothing. Ugh. Get sleep and don't bend or lift anything!

That happened with my hip replacement surgery too. Like time didn't even exist! I hope your recovery is quick and easy! Take care!

Ooh congrats!! Just take it easy. Around 2-3 weeks out, you’ll start feeling “normal” and perhaps overdo it. It’s very common. I’m not 3 years out and life is amazing without it!

Na na na na, na na na na, hey hey hey, goodbye! Best thing I ever did for my excessive bleeding with fibroids, so much bleeding that I had to get a blood transfusion.
