Hi All! I'm wondering how you store your stencils. I have them on a large binder ring. What I'm discovering is that I now have too many to make work well. I have them categorized (alpha/numeric, text, shapes (stars, hearts, etc.), geometric, swirl/floral, etc.) What do you do that's working for you?

I do mine the same way I do my stamps and dies, in Ellen Hutson envelopes. I label them in the top left corner. It works so far. I hope you find a way that is perfect for you.

I have mine in page protectors in a cheap album. If I didn’t have some 12x12 ones I could use a regular binder.

Mine are standing upright in a vertical gap in my storage. No container. They just fit, so I stuck them there.

This is the way I have mine also. I use the XL envelopes (which are 6-3/4 x 9-3/8) and cut the top off to fit the stencil. Same with background stamps and 6x6 patterned paper.

Right now mine are in a 12 x 12 IRIS plastic tote, but that won't last long because I can't find the one I want when I want.

I buy stamp storage binders and inserts from Hobby Lobby. My 6x6 stencils go in the protectors. My Vicki Boutin and other stencils fit perfectly on the binder rings. I have three and they fit nicely in my Kallax. I love these. They really work for me! I have my 12x12 stencils in a plastic file from the Container Store.

This brand of envelope is what I use to store my chipboard and ephemera in. They are thick and you can tuck in the flap. You could easily store your large stencils in these and keep them on your desk in a 12 x 12 container that sits up. I love this brand (they have other sizes) and I use them for storage for lots of other things.

I think I may look into going this route. Are the EH envelopes thin or thick? I buy shop ticket holders for my stamps and like them because they are sturdier/thicker. I’m thinking I would like thinner for stencils.

I’m thinking I would like thinner for stencils. They are thicker than the Avery Elle ones but a tiny bit less than the job ticket holders. I use the job ticket holders for my 8 1/2 x 11 paper. (The Office Depot ones.) I'm sorry that doesn't help much, does it?

At the moment I have them standing up in a basket but may need to go the way of EH envelopes.

Cheap "pockets" made from page protectors (with a laminated cardstock backer board to prevent bending). I keep them in the same bin as most of my stamps. Less things to pull out when I want to use one!

Carolyn Dube is a designer for Stencil Girl Stencils and she puts J hooks on her stencils and hangs them on a rack. Here is a link that has 2 videos: 1. that shows how she stores smaller stencils and masks using an old book & 2. her J hook storage system for larger stencils. I like what she does because I am a person that is not so good with putting things away(yep, messy crafter here!) and storing them in iris cases (my current system) means that I have to sort through everything and more delicate stencils are in danger of getting tangled. acolorfuljourney.com/how-to-store-stencil-masks/

I have mine in a 12x12 IRIS container. I works for me because as I search through to find a stencil I see them all and it reminds me of what I have.

I had mine on a ring for the longest time, but it just wasn't working for me. As I then didn't have a place to put the stack (I have about 25 stencils). So I recently (like a week ago) took them off the ring and put them in a drawer in my Michael's cubicles. They stay with my Misti in one of the narrow drawers (3 drawer cube). I haven't yet reached for one, so not sure how it will work - but I'm feeling good about it so far.
