If you've been to Cabo before, what do you think is a 'must do'?

Good question. I’ll follow because this is our plan for my sons grad trip next June.

Well to be perfectly honest, what I liked best about Cabo was there wasn't a whole lot of must dos - which freed us up to just relax. We happened to coincide with good whale watching one time, and went out on a boat tour which was pretty fun.

For the experience, Mi Casa and the Office are a lot of fun. If it is an adult trip or if the kids are older and foodies Flora Farms is lovely. We stay at one of the Pueblo Bonito resorts - they have 2 on the Sea of Cortez the Blanco and Rose and then on the Pacific coast side they have Sunset Beach (very family-friendly), The Pacifica (adults only), Monte Cristo estates (3-5 bedroom houses with their own small pools and hot tubs), and NOvaspania (larger 4 bedroom homes with large pools at each house and beautiful yards). If you are staying at one you get access to the pools and restaurants at all. I believe that you can come to the restaurants if you aren't staying there - our favorite is La Frida at Sunset Beach, adult only, best margaritas and food in Cabo.
Todos Santos is a fun day trip up the Pacific Coast to where Hotel California is located. Cute town!
San Jose del Cabo has an arts district and for parts of the year Thursday nights are a big open arts festival with booths, food, art, and fun.
We go for Christmas every other year, I haven't been any other time. We have lucked out with amazing whale watching a couple of times.
We are now a party of 18 when we go with a lot of kids. So our trips might be every different than what you are looking to plan. But if you have any questions please let me know and I will do my best to answer them.

If you’re willing to spend some $$ for dinner one night I recommend Sunset Mona Lisa, you should book a reservation for sunset, they charge a nominal fee but it was worth it. The truffle fettucine was amazing. I also recommend staying out of the downtown Cabo San Lucas area when the cruise ships are in port, it's crowded and the rates all seem to go up for food and drinks. If you’re in the San Jose del Cabo area on Thursday nights they have an art walk--some all-inclusive resorts in that area will offer it as an evening activity. I would do it, it's really a cute area. If anyone wants to fish the 1/2 day tour will "troll" right off the shore line, the full day tour is 8 hours and they out to the Marlin grounds. We did the 1/2 day and it was just enough for us. We took the fish back to our resort, cleaned and the chef cooked it that night. Be sure to tell them you want "a lot" of fish as my husband only got one filet, the staff ate well that night. Also check before you go fishing if the resort will cook it, right now the resort we stayed at won't cook it. Winter/Spring for whale watching, keep in mind the ocean is not that warm that time of year, so snorkeling might be debatable.
Hope you have a great time.

It was amazing. So your aware in Cabo the sunsets behind the "mountains" it doesn’t "fall" into the ocean. The way the restaurant it angled you can see the ocean as well as the mountains...very cool. It's in the corridor area--keep in mind the taxi ride could be $$ depending on where you’re staying, but for DH and I it was worth the splurge. If you’re going in winter, I would wear long pants and a sweater as it will get chilly when the sun goes down. They do have heaters as well, but IMO dress for the weather.

Mom - have you gone or are you still planning on going? We just booked a trip for this August. It will be our first time in Mexico (beyond Tijuana in college...which really shouldn't count).

We've rescheduled twice now. Once last October and again this past Feb. We were planning on going and then the required covid testing to get back in took effect and it scared us. We were afraid to not be able to find testing in Mexico. We still have our tickets and hopefully will rebook later this summer.

It was wonderful! We did do a cruise out to the arch - it was supposed to be a snorkeling adventure but due to an off shore hurricane it was canceled. It was still fun though. We did the swimming with the dolphins thing. Eh, it was ok but not something I'd call a must do. We did a camel ride near the ocean. Again, fun once but not a must do.

I’m hopeful things will continue to trend in the right direction and we won’t need to reschedule.
Brandy we will be at all all inclusive too. For the first time. I’m looking forward to a week of no cooking at all!

Make sure to visit San Jose Del Cabo. It is a beautiful little city. We stayed closer to San Jose Del Cabo than Cabo San Lucas, so we went there more often. I liked it enough that if I were to go back I would consider staying right in the city rather than on the beach. We did enjoy our visits to CSL. We took a booze cruise when we were there and it was a lot of fun.

Right before our last trip was postponed our resort wasn't prepared for the testing and there were too many unknowns for us. Friends have gone since then and apparently they've got a system down now and the tests are widely available.

None of us are divers...I wish! We do snorkel.
We are at the Grand Fiesta Americana (they are part of our Hilton timeshare). They say they offer testing on site.

Flora Farms ia really wonderful. We drove up to Todos Santos, which was a nice day trip. While some of us explored Todos Santos, my husband and teenage son took a surfing lesson outside of town. On the way back, we stopped at the beach with turtle nests and watched the baby turtles find their way into the ocean at sunset. That was a wonderful memory. My husband and his friend did a half day fishing charter and brought home an enormous amount of fish, which we made into ceviche and grilled. We also did a private catamaran tour snorkel tour, which was fun for the teenagers in our group.

We leave in a week…can’t wait. We have a private snorkeling day trip planned and nothing else really. It’s the least structured trip I’ve ever done.
We did get a decent deal on an SUV rental thru Delta with Hertz. $500 for the week.

We saw the dune buggy activity. But, it’s going to be hot and I’m not crazy about wearing a helmet and all that in the heat.

Some friends of ours went a few weeks ago. They wanted to spend one day at the beach relaxing. Some local guy comes along and says he’ll get them whatever they want for their day at the beach. Like their own personal beach concierge. The guy rented chairs, umbrellas, brought them an ice chest full of beer, brought them all their meals for the day, and even got jet skis rented for them. Of course, our friends paid for all the rentals and the food, and tipped the guy well for the hours he provided his services. I got super jealous because my husband trusts no one, and would have shooed the guy away, and we would have had to get all of these things on our own. If I’m ever in Cabo again, I may take a few more chances. I hope you have a great time.

We were there the first week of August. What was most surprising to us was almost 100% mask compliance, and temperature checks with sanitizer dispensing upon entry to every restaurant or shared space. Even construction workers in the high heat and humidity could be seen wearing masks. Every local we spoke with was pleasant about it, and asked why someone wouldn’t want to protect their neighbor and business. Such a change from DFW and the bickering!
We’d plan to rent ATVs but didn’t, my husband joked we should have brought our helmets. The idea of a rental helmet, even with head wrap, in the heat and pandemic wasn’t appealing in reality.
We never made it to Flora Farms, but did go El Huerta farm to table (near Costco) and Hierbuena Farm to Table (El Pescadera). Very nice with wonderful service. El Huerta had relaxing breakfasts.
Definitely Todos Santos and La Paz! We went to each on separate days, they could be combined into one.
We stayed away from the downtown scene but ate at a few smaller restaurants nearby. Cucina & Bar by Cabo Bakery was good for breakfast and lunch.
La Coyota is fantastic place to visit, whether you want to shop or just look. It’s an old inn and each room surrounding the courtyard displays a different Mexican craft or art. The clothing and textiles were lovely. If you’ve ever visited Frida Kahlo’s house, it reminded me of that except it was a store.y
We made the decision to go less than two weeks ahead of time, spontaneous. And I’m sure we will go back, flights and travel time are half where we usually go. We should have tried it sooner!
Have fun!!!

. So glad to hear that! We normally go to Hawaii with our time share, but going to Cabo, the airfare was half.
We leave tomorrow morning. Cannot wait. Although someone else there just told me it's been raining.
