I have a college kiddo I would like to send some k cups to. I know she has a Keurig. I thought hot cocoa would be nice for the cold weather coming up.
I don't have a Keurig, so I have no idea what ones are good. Does anyone one have one they suggest?
Thanks

Just buy regular hot chocolate packages and put the contents in the mug and use the machine for hot water. Cheaper and tastes much better.

Once in awhile I make it all fancy with milk and cocoa powder on the stove top, but typically we just dump the packets and use hot water from the Keurig.

I have tried a couple types of the KCup hot chocolate. Swiss Miss & Cafe Escapes - stick to the packets. The KCups have a very artificial taste to them.

Just buy regular hot chocolate packages and put the contents in the mug and use the machine for hot water. Cheaper and tastes much better. This is exactly what I do. I haven't found a hot chocolate k cup I like either. ETA subsequent posters have explained why I never like the k cups. Artificial sweetener.

DH came home with a box of Dunkin Donuts hot chocolate cups and they are really good...but I agree with the packet, hot water idea. K cups are so expensive, but as a gift, I'd probably bite the bullet and send the cups

We bought the k-cups for him one time, but he really did not like them. If not making full on, milk/chocolate hot chocolate, he prefers the packets over the k-cups. I got rid of my kuerig recently. I went back to my 10 year old krups w/a carafe and my son is not at all happy about not having hot water on demand. He is back to having to heat water in the kettle on the stove and he hates the wait. Impatient little bugger.

I'm also in the 'just use the packets' camp. I would probably get a fun assortment of something a bit more exciting (like the Land O Lakes flavors or Stephens envelopes) and include a note telling her I'd asked the internet and which KCup to buy, but they said 'just use the hot water and packets.' eta I see above that the Dunkin cups were recommended; I haven't tried those yet but have some others, so maybe one box of those plus the packets.

My husband bought me a machine last Christmas but it really tasted like plastic. It was so bad I couldn't even choke anything down. I tried, maybe 10 different sample kinds, thinking the machine had to get "warmed" up, but I ended up taking it back. I wonder if I could have gotten a bum machine since everyone seems to love theirs. The hot chocolate one I tried was the same.

I'm a Keurig addict for coffee, but the hot cocoa ones I have tried are just not good. I remember Swiss Miss was one of the kinds, but I'd go with the packet or even a big cannister with the mini marshmallows in it. Now I do like the Swiss Miss brand of that!

Same for me. Love it for coffee, doesn't work with hot chocolate. Thanks everyone for the reminder that I just need to throw those hot chocolate cups away right now. I know I'll never use them, and I don't want to offer them to company either.

I agree, get the packets and just use the K to add the hot water.
We have the Swiss Miss ones and they are really sweet and not that good. I should take them to work. Someone there drinks them, because they keep buying them. I tried a dark chocolate one, that wasn't bad, but watery tasting. I can't remember the brand.

I bought some hot apple cider k-cups by Green Mountain that are really good. No artificial sweetners, either.
I'm glad I read the negative comments about the hot chocolate k-cups. DH wanted to buy some. He'll just have to stick with packets.

Yep I agree with everyone else!
I do love the Timothy's white hot chocolate. It's amazing! It tastes like those drinks called vanilla dream. I can only buy them online though.

you can by packets of hot apple cider too, like the packets of hot chocolate you just add hot water.. so even for that the kcups aren't necessary.. same for tea, just put a tea bag in your cup and run water thru the machine to make it hot

I don't like any of the hot chocolate cups.
They all taste very chemically.
I have also found I don't like hot chocolate made with water. It has to be milk for me.

Would be nice if they did take it out.

My DD likes the Shoprite brand hot cocoa k cups but I haven't got the box any more so I can't tell you the ingredients. She also likes the red rose cinnamon bun tea which does have stevia. And the Twinings seasonal apple cider chai which is unsweetened.
