It's a long story, but I hired a painter before COVID really hit and he used PPG paints. So I have this color called "Swirling Smoke" in the main level thinking it would be a great beige/gray. But it's really too beige for me.
I fired that painter bc he was truly awful and the new painter next month is going to basically fix his terrible job. So I might as well choose another color for the main level/open concept.
New painter uses Sherwin Williams. I think I'd like to have a gray, that has a little depth to it. The "Swirling Smoke" is very light. Would love suggestions and pics if you have 'em!
Thanks!

Edgecomb Gray is very nice and popular - I went with Gray Owl (also BM) which is very similar but a bit more gray.
There was a recent thread, like yesterday also about gray colors.

I have BM Revere Pewter in my living room and it looks really (too) grey to me even though it’s considered a greige. I think a lot has to do with lighting and the color of your furnishings. Short of buying samples, pick up some paint chips and tape them to the wall and check it out at various times of the day.

It’s all going to come down to your light source. Our neighbours red bricks reflect in on half our house and the rest of our house is in shade. We ended up doing one gray in the lr/dr and another gray in the hallway, but the hallway is completely separated from the lr/dr so you don’t really notice

I would get a few test pots and paint them on some large sheets of poster board or get sample sheets and position them around your room, moving them at different times of the day. It will all depend on the light you get in your room.

Just painted a bedroom and bath with SW On the Rocks. It is the best! Different lightening makes it transform. It picks up blues, brown greens in a subtle way I’m going to paint the entire interior w this color

We left them up for a few weeks as we were so undecided. We ended up choosing Revere Pewter and it worked great with the tile we selected. It does look a bit more beige than grey most of the time. We're going to do Edgecomb grey for the living room and hall.

Requisite Gray The link goes to the color on SW site. We used it at our old house that had brown stained trim & beige carpet. We used it at our new house with white trim and all gray accents.

We have the same thing in our house. I wanted to paint the room a shade of gray but not sure what would look good when that reflected light comes in.

I keep reading this as "My grief is too beige" and am a little disappointed this isn't a deeply philosophical thread.

We have revere pewter in our living room, kitchen and bathroom. I love how it changes depending on the light. In some ways it is more beige than I thought it would be but in some light it is more gray.
