Sorry, edited to clarify, I am not doing PL scrapbooking, but traditional 12x12 pages, I just found these albums for a good price. I don't want to break the rings, or make them too heavy, so wondering how many traditional pages they can hold. I am at 40 pages for the first one, and it seems pretty heavy. Google/Project life info wasn't any help! I think I am going to switch from post bound to 3 ring permanently. (Big deal for me!!-gulp!)
I am just working on filling up my first Project Life album (3 ring cloth, clearance at M's, lol) and I have 20 page protectors in it, so 40 actual pages. It seems really heavy. Is that too many? Not enough? Any clue on how much it *should* hold? Thanks!!

Depends what you’re using in the pickets. BH PL brand cards are pretty thin, other brands have pretty chunky cards. The weight of the cards really adds up in thickness. Are you doing two pages per week? That will usually require two albums per year.

I actually like to stuff mine a bit because if there aren't enough pages the looseness makes the pages sag out of the book, if that makes sense. I've been storing my books horizontal because of that problem.

Sagging is why I don't use 3 ring. My general rule about how many pages is, whatever fits neatly. Some of my pages have memorabilia and dimensional items that don't do well if squished. If I need more pages, I go to album next. I do use 2" 3 ring binders for my ATC's. I use 30 baseball card pages per binder.

Sagging is why I don't use 3 ring. Hi, sorry, I should have been more clear. I am not doing "project life" kind of scrapping, I do traditional 12x12, not PL cards. I just am unsure how many pages I should put in an album. don, what type of albums do you use? I typically use post bound.

honeypea, I am sorry, I should have been more clear. I am doing traditional 12x12 pages, just using PL albums. On a good week, I do 6- 8 pages, so a lot more than 2x week. However there have been months when I was busy with other stuff that I did not scrap at all, so there is that...I just don't want to break the rings.

Hi there. I only use 3 - ring albums (WRMK variety), and do 12x12 traditional layouts.
Typically, I am able to fit anywhere from 24 - 30 layouts per album. It just depends on the thickness of each layout.

If, when you close the album, the covers are splayed, you have too many pages. I use post bound for scrapping. I use 3 ring for ATC's and brag photo books. I use old fashioned bound paper keepsake album for the handmade card I get for my fellow crafters every year.

I average around 30 page protectors in my D ring albums. I'm not a lumpy bumpy scrapbooker though.

I just looked at one of mine & there were 26 page protectors in it and it is closed comfortably without the covers splaying. I have some dimension but nothing crazy.

I just counted. I stuffed 47 sleeves into my 2019 family album (so 94 layouts!) Four of those were 6x12, but the rest were 12x12. It's a lot more than I'm comfortable with keeping in there, but I'm still trying to decide whether to split the pages into 2 books. I've been using Michael's Recollections brand.
I had the ring mechanism detach from an older binder, so I'm too aware of the risks of leaving it so heavy. My kids aren't as careful as I am when it comes to lifting them, which I think is how that one broke.

35-40 page protectors I think usually - I'm an 8.5x11 scrapper and not very lumpy

I scrapbook 8.5 x 11, in chronological order(January- December). I use 3-ring 2 inch binders from an office supply store.
I counted them all a long time ago, if I recall correctly each binder has between 60-80 or so layouts(in sheet protectors). A couple years (1998-1999) have two binders for the year.

I put in as many as I can get in. Usually around 30 page protectors, so about 60 layout pages?
And yes, it is heavy!

I use WRMK 12x12 three ring albums. I average 40 page protectors for a full album but I rarely use bulky or thick items. I have managed 50 in one album but know i have to handle that one a little more carefully.

I get 25 two pagers in most of my albums. My pages aren't very flat though.
