Another discussion question:
I've been on a kick lately where I'm finding really old supplies to mix with my new collections. For some reason I'm really enjoying it- I'm challenging myself.
This weeks I've used: Burlap (remember when that was in? I love it!) Wood Veneer Doilies Stickles Vellum Paper flowers and leaves (that is reaching way back) Adhesive pearls and rhinestones Stickers (Where the Wild Things Are) Brads
I've also scrapped using October Afternoon's Midway collection. This is one of my favorite collections of all time- I've made quite a few pages with it and it never gets old. I also used Basic Grey's Kioshi collection- So pretty! I miss Basic Grey- they had so many non-themed collections- just beautiful paper.
What old supplies or collections have you used lately?

Everything but the jungle paper is at least 5 years old.

Love the layout, so pretty! I have been mixing old and new... and I LOVE it! This week, I have used some October Afternoon, Glitz Designs and Bo Bunny... some of the papers dated back to 2011, 2012-ish. I also pulled out some baby boy stickers from 2009. I recently began a little challenge - my goal is to complete 30 layouts (I am right now on layout #9) before I buy anything new. Once I reach this goal, I think I will increase it to 50 layouts, cos I am churning out layouts like crazy in order to buy some stuff I have my eye on at my local scrapbooking store before anyone else purchases it, LOL. It's a good way to motivate myself to scrap and use my supplies. PS: I also used vellum (love it for embellishments, and I also journal on vellum), one brad (LOL - first time in ten years!), and adhesive pearls. Just had to edit and add - I am just starting a new layout with Elle's Studio Serendipity "Cherish"... from 2013

I have been doing this lately too! Trying to use more older supplies with the newer/just bought goodies. Last few layouts have been 60% older and 40% new supplies used.
If I come home with new goodies I have to incorporate older stuff!
Love your layout Artbabe!

Love your layout! I think the burlap is a great addition - I do remember when burlap was a "thing"!! The last big project I did was Christmas (like 20 years worth of Christmas scrapbook layouts but now I'm caught up!) and I had some embellishments & paper I used that were dated 1999!!! I was shocked. I've also been making tons of cards for the Cards for Soldiers program and have been using up lots of older embellishments & paper that way. I had some really old card kits I used up (one was a Becky Higgins/Lisa Bearnson collab from who know how long ago) plus some general QVC kits from at least 15 years ago. I also used up lots of stickers and used some of the Rebecca Sower Fresh Cuts - remember those?? They were printed flat but looked 3D? I used up some of those on cards recently. I used some old Paper Bliss felt stickers that were in my stash on cards to. They still had the $3.99 price tag on them from 2002! I still have a lot of older supplies. I figure I'll get to them at some point...LOL!!

I took a long hiatus from scrapping and have just started pulling out stuff that's been stored away for years. I recently opened a box with a ton of Bazzill products and old scrapbook lines from back in the day (maybe 2004-05) and it's amazing how much colors have changed in 15 years! Unless I was a weird shopper, there was no dominance of pink/peach/aqua/mint back then like here is now. I have to hand it to my old self for storing the matching cardstock and the paper lines together though because it makes it a lot easier to use the stuff now.

An old Echo Park line with a cut out journal card, newer arrow metal dies, and old Recollection mini alpha stickers.
Super old Echo Park Puffy stickers mixed with Carta Bella or maybe My Mind's Eye stickers on another page. I sort my new purchases by themes that make sense to me. Sometimes I forget the manufacturer. Old Red alpha stickers from a Simple Stories birthday line. I did a banner using twine that isn't too old.
A BH PL card embellished with new to me Doodlebug pill better stamps.

I love mixing old and new! I used to store everything by collection kits/manufacturer, but I found I never used any old supplies, just the "latest and greatest". A year or two ago I took all my collections apart and reorganized everything by color. Now I let the colors in my photos guide my product choices, so I regularly mix and match multiple collections/manufacturers. I really enjoy crafting this way and feel like I'm touching more of my stuff.
I know I've recently used some sheets of Crate Paper Pretty Party (2012), Pebbles Happy Go Lucky (2011) and some Jenni Bowlin cards/butterflies embellishments. I also used some gemmed brads that I think are from an old My Minds Eye or Echo Park collection.

I was shocked. I’m thinking if doing this. An album of just ‘all’ christmases ( maybe hannukah as well but those are less photographed ☹️ ) Any pointers?

Not the original poster, but I have an ongoing Christmas album. I definitely want to make it more meaningful and throw in more December Daily type pages. I try to have at least one page of my three children in one photo and separate pages of just them opening presents or highlighting them in some way because the older they get, one has been getting money instead. To keep it simple, I choose the same pattern paper for the individual pages and one coordinating paper (or even the same) for the group photo. I choose a different line each year to have it stand out more and pick something new and fun.

I've always done that. I have lots of stickers and papers that I've bought over the years, because a lot of merchandise is one time release so gotta buy it when you see it, otherwise I miss out.

Not sure if this is a pointer but I had all my Christmas photos sorted by year. For each year I tried to use the same Christmas papers/collection through that year that way I could tie that particular years layouts together with one “look”. I did repeat papers but not with back to back years. I labeled all the pages with the year as well. I ended up with 4 three ring binders for all my Christmas pics since 2000 which was the year I got married. I didn’t scrap them chronologically either - I just kind of skipped around the years (not sure why but that’s just the way I scrap!) I ended up working on this over the course of three retreats. I tend to focus on one project at my scrap retreats. Hope this helps!!

I have three 6x8 albums covering 21 years so far. Each one has a section in the front for the blessings and song lyrics. Then, the back of each book has about 7 years worth of photos, and I supplemented the Hanukkah photos with winter photos. I used a lot of older products in them because I had to make a lot of Hanukkah themed embellishments. Last week I used some ancient SEI paper, and this week I dipped into my ribbon stash. Twice! I won't lie, it felt good to use the old stuff! And I've been using my chalks again pretty regularly over the last couple of months:)

I limit my buying of consumables so that I end up using them pretty quick & "need" to buy more.
But I make it a point to use my old tools nearly every time I scrap.
On my latest in progress layout, I used a small set of PSX stamps to make the title. I've had that stamp set since 2004.

I just re-organized all my patterned paper, and did some purging at the same time. During the process, I looked at EVERY SHEET of patterned paper I had. Most were collections, and some were 5-6 sheets of a paperline. I am IN LOVE with some of the old paper I have and can't wait to put it to use.
I'm now deciding on how to categorize it so I can easier find my options. Turns out I have tons of masculine paper, which is great for the men layouts.

I have organized all of my paper by colour. It makes my layout creation process so much easier. I have kallax shelving from IKEA, and several of these organizers: www.stampnstorage.com/12x12-paper-holders/I have four shelves for patterned paper (organized by colour) and then underneath, have four more shelves for cardstock - again, everything is organized by colour. Yes, it cost me an arm and a leg, and I had to pay pretty much the cost of the item for shipping... not to mention customs, but it was soooo worth it, as it fits perfectly into my kallax and my room is my own little piece of "scrapping paradise" (ha, how is that for a scrapbooking LSS name?? . I just want to add that right now, I have begun a new layout and I am using some Basic Grey - from 2008 (Lime Rickey - Cherry Cola) and 2009 (Nook & Pantry - Cornbread). I love, love, love my older patterned pages too. I like neutral, soft, b-sides... ahhh, paper. Even though I have stacks of it (literally!) there is never enough, LOL.

I've been on a huge old stuff kick for the last few months and have been using heaps of BasicGrey and Cosmo Cricket. I love the thrill of using my older stash, and especially using something up. After a little organisation project earlier this year I've pulled out the old flat paper flowers to try and use them up, and have managed to get a few onto pages and out of my stash.

all my supplies are mixed together - paper by colour, flat-ish embellishment and PL by theme, alphas all together, brads/eyelets/nuvo/enamal dots by colour, and a random drawer of random stuff. So I use old stuff just as often as the newer stuff. And my older stuff goes all the way to when I first started scrapping in 2002 (and some is older than that because I bought it on clearance or at scrappy yard sales way back then and it's really from the 90s).
