Dr.'s offices not seeing patients? UDATE IN OPENING POST

Mine was not in May but I did see her, both of us all masked up, at the end of June. If transmissions go too high she goes back to televisits. All sick spots are televisits unless she specifically tells you to come in

My allergist isn't seeing patients for office visits in person. They are doing shots and testing, but I don't think the doctor is seeing anyone.

My primary care doctor is seeing patients. The boys and I have physicals in August. I don't know if they would see me for symptoms that could be COVID. I know that in April, they were doing COVID testing/exams in the parking lot.

My PCP is....but then again we are no longer in a hot spot.

I think there's a move to a lot more telehealth. In addition to limiting the number of people coming into the office, it has created some efficiencies esp. with patients who need multidisciplinary care.

My teens just had their well checks and sports physicals done. Immunizations updated etc.

DH started having pain that is commonly associated with UTI or hernias. He was seen in person because they wanted to do a pee test right there plus a little poking to check pain levels. He was the only patient there. They said they're only doing urgent appointments for typical UTI, sinus infections, or stuff that needs to be examined closer/in person. Physicals and other checks that need to be done in person are being scheduled in a way to keep the waiting room limited to 5 people or less (it's a larger room).

From there, blood test to rule out stones and an ultrasound. Everything after that was done via zoom. He has a follow up scheduled that is also via zoom.

DS has an appointment coming up that is being changed to phone.

Our pediatrician is doing in-person well visits (everyone masked.) If you are needing a sick visit there are options. Depending on your symptoms they may do a tele-visit, in-person in-office visit, or in-person car visit. They have a separate entrance and a couple of rooms reserved for in-office sick visits. They will only do any sick visits at the end of the day.

I find this policy understandable but also so frustrating. Those same symptoms aren't exclusive to Covid. My DS has a history running a high fever and extreme muscle pain with no known reason. It usually happens at night, but last week it happened during the day so we tried to get into a Dr to have them see him while it was happening, as they had recommended to us to hopefully move toward some kind of dx. He had to get a Covid test first. Which took 5 days to get a negative result. And by then it had resolved.

As for other stuff, his past two appointments with his specialist have been telehealth, which, I wish wasn't the case because I think he needs to seen. But also, his office is in a major hospital, so we don't want to risk the exposure either.

He as been able to get regular lab work and an MRI done without any problems though at our local clinic.

I work at a doctors office and we are seeing patients every day and doing Covid tests. We took about 6 weeks without seeing patients starting around March 16 or so. I was furloughed but then came back.

I just had a TELEMED visit with my GP yesterday. They gave me the option of coming in or doing it by phone. It was supposed to be a video link, but it failed on their end. I went to their lab a week before and got my bloodwork done. The results were posted in my online patient portal. I printed it out before she called. I also took my temperature, blood pressure and pulse and weighed myself that morning. The nurse called first and got all the information before the doctor came online.  I absolutely loved it. I have another appointment in 3 months and it will be virtual also.

I went in and had my ear irrigated, and that was an in-person visit. But my cardiologist dr appointment scheduled for September will be online. I do have to go to the lab to get my blood drawn a week before my appointment. He'll just go over my labs with me, which is something I can do myself actually since I'm an RN. But I'll let him pamper me. Sometimes my meds need to be adjusted a bit after he sees the labs.

I had my usual 6-month check in at the doctor's office in Mid-June, and yesterday had my annual GYN appointment.

I got a pneumonia shot from my GP last week. It was her idea...

My doctor is seeing patients for physicals & chronic problems that she has seen the patient for in the past. Otherwise, they are asking their patients to go to the walk in clinic. This way they are able to see their kids for their school physicals & vaccinations. Early on, like March & April, they were seeing routine patients in the morning & sick ones in the afternoon, giving them time to deep clean at the end of the day. IT's not a perfect way to do it but will be OK for the time being. I just hope I don't need to go in because I really don't enjoy waiting  & waiting at the walk in clinic.
