Just wondering if it is just in my town, but my Dr.'s office is not seeing patients in person. When I called today (possible sinus infection and asthma issues) she felt it was not something we could do over zoom so she wants me to go to an immediate care clinic for someone to listen to my lungs. She said her office is not allowed to see people in person if they are sick due to covid?
Anyone else have that? My appointments keep getting rescheduled/pushed back farther into fall.
Update: They called to reschedule my end of August well visit (need a pap smear, mamogram, blood work) - this has been rescheduled 4 times already due to covid and the Dr. being out of the office. They asked me the covid checklist. I had to be honest - yes, shortness of breath: I have asthma. Yes congested: I have allergies year round. They are now insisiting I need to go to immediate care to be cleared that I don't have covid before they will even reschedule my appointment TO SEPTEMBER. I will admit that I hung up and started crying. I am trying to be understanding. I am wearing a mask - distancing - staying home still. All I want to is have a Dr.'s appointment this year.
**And we are in rural Illinois with ver LITE cases in our area.

Mine was not in May but I did see her, both of us all masked up, at the end of June. If transmissions go too high she goes back to televisits. All sick spots are televisits unless she specifically tells you to come in

That’s weird. Dh has gone in twice (once in June and once a few weeks ago) for strep (what grown up gets strep in the summer?? 🙄) and neither time was an issue. The second time they didn’t retest in order to preserve PPE but they still saw him.

My allergist isn't seeing patients for office visits in person. They are doing shots and testing, but I don't think the doctor is seeing anyone.
My primary care doctor is seeing patients. The boys and I have physicals in August. I don't know if they would see me for symptoms that could be COVID. I know that in April, they were doing COVID testing/exams in the parking lot.

My primary care doctor is seeing patients. They suggest teleconferencing if possible, but they will see the patients in-office. My mom has been going to her doctor for her shoulder/arthritis issues. Our doctors will not see anyone with Covid symptoms.

My 12yo had a weight check at his Ped's office at the end of May, but that can't exactly be done over Zoom. His first appointment with a child psychiatric (for his ADHD) was a teleconference...that was frustrating, not just because we waited almost 4 months for the appointment, but because you need to be able to see all of him to understand some of our concerns about him.

I think there's a move to a lot more telehealth. In addition to limiting the number of people coming into the office, it has created some efficiencies esp. with patients who need multidisciplinary care.

I’m a pediatrician, and I’m still seeing patients in person if their complaint isn’t appropriate for a telehealth appointment. I’m also doing COVID testing at the end of the day in the parking lot so patients don’t have to wait at a testing site. I did just find out that I’m the only pediatrician in town still seeing sick patients in person (probably because I had the foresight to get a bunch of N95s and P100s in February and they haven’t been able to get PPE).

I'm not sure - I'll find out next month when my quarterly med visit is due - I cancelled my last one but I need refills so can't cancel this one. I would prefer a virtual visit but I'm pretty sure she won't do refills without labs so...

DH started having pain that is commonly associated with UTI or hernias. He was seen in person because they wanted to do a pee test right there plus a little poking to check pain levels. He was the only patient there. They said they're only doing urgent appointments for typical UTI, sinus infections, or stuff that needs to be examined closer/in person. Physicals and other checks that need to be done in person are being scheduled in a way to keep the waiting room limited to 5 people or less (it's a larger room).
From there, blood test to rule out stones and an ultrasound. Everything after that was done via zoom. He has a follow up scheduled that is also via zoom.
DS has an appointment coming up that is being changed to phone.

We don't do COVID testing in our clinic. Therefore, anyone with COVID signs we do a telehealth visit or have them go to an urgent care or ED.

Our pediatrician is doing in-person well visits (everyone masked.) If you are needing a sick visit there are options. Depending on your symptoms they may do a tele-visit, in-person in-office visit, or in-person car visit. They have a separate entrance and a couple of rooms reserved for in-office sick visits. They will only do any sick visits at the end of the day.

I would prefer a virtual visit but I'm pretty sure she won't do refills without labs so... I’ve had 2 (quarterly) med checks since this started. My Dr and NP have held them virtually and my next one in September is also scheduled as a virtual visit. If your lab work has been steady over the last year, hopefully they’ll allow you skip in person for a while longer.

Our doctors will not see anyone with Covid symptoms.I find this policy understandable but also so frustrating. Those same symptoms aren't exclusive to Covid. My DS has a history running a high fever and extreme muscle pain with no known reason. It usually happens at night, but last week it happened during the day so we tried to get into a Dr to have them see him while it was happening, as they had recommended to us to hopefully move toward some kind of dx. He had to get a Covid test first. Which took 5 days to get a negative result. And by then it had resolved. As for other stuff, his past two appointments with his specialist have been telehealth, which, I wish wasn't the case because I think he needs to seen. But also, his office is in a major hospital, so we don't want to risk the exposure either. He as been able to get regular lab work and an MRI done without any problems though at our local clinic.

As of about a month ago, our hospital (military) is doing in person visits. Cases are on the rise and they’ve closed down some facilities, but most of the cases are in the Antwerp area, with young adults being the majority of the cases. All suspected Covid cases are referred out to local healthcare facilities.

I work at a doctors office and we are seeing patients every day and doing Covid tests. We took about 6 weeks without seeing patients starting around March 16 or so. I was furloughed but then came back.

Our doctor has been doing virtual appointments for wellness visits. I had one two weeks ago and DH had one this morning. Kaiser is seeing patients if they think you need to be seen.

I just had a TELEMED visit with my GP yesterday. They gave me the option of coming in or doing it by phone. It was supposed to be a video link, but it failed on their end. I went to their lab a week before and got my bloodwork done. The results were posted in my online patient portal. I printed it out before she called. I also took my temperature, blood pressure and pulse and weighed myself that morning. The nurse called first and got all the information before the doctor came online. I absolutely loved it. I have another appointment in 3 months and it will be virtual also.

My husband had a post surgical follow up at the Mayo Clinic last week. He had his surgery over a year ago, but it was experimental, so he had a routine follow up appointment.
I've seen my eye doctor, my dermatologist and my ob-gyn in the last few weeks.

I went in and had my ear irrigated, and that was an in-person visit. But my cardiologist dr appointment scheduled for September will be online. I do have to go to the lab to get my blood drawn a week before my appointment. He'll just go over my labs with me, which is something I can do myself actually since I'm an RN. But I'll let him pamper me. Sometimes my meds need to be adjusted a bit after he sees the labs.

Mine is, they are using a separate entrance and check in procedure for sick symptomatic people vs routine visits. I just saw my PCP last week and she explained it all to me. They are trying to do tele visits when possible but I had to be seen in person to get my Ambien. (GA law or something)

I saw my primary care doctor in June. I had to call a number when I got there, and wait in my car until they told me to come in. I did the blood draw for lab work about a week before, so saw the results online before my appointment. She did all the usual checks, except for looking at my throat. Mask stayed on the whole time.
I’ve seen the PA and surgeon once each since my knee replacement two weeks ago. In fact, just saw the surgeon for follow up this morning. They take your temp and do the questions before you go through the second door to get into the building (not that I think the temp check is really that useful), and there are many fewer chairs in the waiting room, where they are spaced out. It’s a big orthopedic practice and usually there are more people waiting than I’ve seen the last two weeks.

My doctor is seeing patients for physicals & chronic problems that she has seen the patient for in the past. Otherwise, they are asking their patients to go to the walk in clinic. This way they are able to see their kids for their school physicals & vaccinations. Early on, like March & April, they were seeing routine patients in the morning & sick ones in the afternoon, giving them time to deep clean at the end of the day. IT's not a perfect way to do it but will be OK for the time being. I just hope I don't need to go in because I really don't enjoy waiting & waiting at the walk in clinic.

All our doctors are seeing patients. DH's family doctor is part of a network of three locations. They converted one into a respiratory center and transferred all their regular patients to one of the other locations. It is where he had his Covid test (negative) a few weeks ago and they would send you there for anything that had symptoms of the virus. It's a good setup as it keeps the other offices less likely to have patients with the virus and the test came back in 24 hours.
