SOMEBODY STOP ME. I'm totally watching The Princess Switch 2 that was just released on Netflix today. On my own. On my laptop. With headphones. Pretending it's not The Princess Switch 2 because I've promised my SO I'd wait until he was done with his work. I need to walk away from this. I mean, so far, 19 minutes in, so good. So really good. I'm so tempted to watch just a little more... Love triangle ✓ Decked out royal palace (new one!) ✓ Royal Christmas ball at new palace ✓ Two men waltzing together at the ball ✓ I have to stop. I just need to close the Netflix app. I can do this! I can still avoid Santa's naughty list if I quit now. ETA: THERE'S A THIRD ONE! There is a THIRD ONE, a third lookalike played by Vanessa Hudgens. Ok, I just need to close the app now. That's it. I already have to feign surprise a few times when we finally do watch this. 22 minutes, this is it. This is the time mark when I walk away from this deliciously silly Christmas romance. I GOT THIS! But yo, there's a third one...

It is with great joy a jubilation that I say my 2019 Journal Your Christmas album is done! (If I knew how to put in gifs as nicely as sleepingbooty does, there would be a Leslie Knope happy dancing gif right here. Instead, use your imagination.) Congraaaats, lilacgal ! So happy for you. PS: Just hit the 'Insert Image' button in the tool bar of the reply/post creation window and paste the URL to your .gif image in the pop-up. Super easy! This is the exact gif I was thinking of! You, dear woman, are incredibly awesome. Gold stars for you! ⭐️⭐️⭐️ Added bonus - those are my special scented gold stars. Scratch and sniff - they smell like a computer monitor. 😁 Also, I took a screenshot of this page in hopes that I can actually follow those directions without screwing up. 🤞🏻

Well, it's hard to decide which is more ridiculous when they're all this ridiculous. I watched Holidate with a friend (well, we texted while we watched) and she was horrified by how much adult language and sex talk there was - she'd gotten too comfortable with chaste old Hallmark and this one made her blush. But she watched Operation Christmas Drop afterward and was relieved by its squeaky-cleanness. It wasn't Christmas Prince level good though. She loved that one so much she actually watched the sequels. I can't guarantee anyone will win at bingo with these - Hallmark is so much more formulaic. No near-wolf attacks, a lot more near-kisses.

We watched The Princess 2: Switched Again last night. I'm on the fence about this one. I loved the first half, the second half left me meh. It leans heavily into the vaudeville aspect of the franchise and gives straight up nods to Home Alone. I don't mind the silly humour of mistaken identity but they went way overboard with some of the comedic elements for me. I still enjoyed it but I do think the second half of the movie was poorly executed and fell short. Also, Olivia was recast and I'm not sure why.
Recommended provided you lower your expectations if you loved the first one. I hope they take it a little easier with the third one although that's likely to be a baby/adoption of orphan one and I'm not sure I'm particularly interested in that. (Sorry A Christmas Prince)

My daughter is coming home from college today! Let the thanksgiving and Christmas festivities commence! I bought a Harry Potter figure advent calendar for them to open each day. They don’t know about it yet! I’ve had way too much Christmas cheer.

Got my smallish order from FJ and my stuff to make a resin notebook cover for my DD. First try with the resin didn't produce anything usable. The cover was soft and flexible (user error) so I'm trying again.
On a separate note, I saw Traci Reed is creating a Christmas at home digital collection that looks super cute! That might be the needed spark I need!

One of our local traditions is going to the Seattle Men’s Chorus Christmas concert. Of course this year it’s had to go virtual. But the silver lining is that you don’t have to be in Seattle to see it. So here you go - here’s a link to get a “ticket” to stream their variety show during the holiday season. $25 per device, you choose when to activate your 48 hour viewing window. Very reasonable, I thought. And you can sing along without catching or spreading the plague. www.seattlechoruses.org/attend/concerts-events/holidayspecial/

I FOUND my craft die advent calendar i got for myself. It was put where i thought i put it but it fell off the shelf behind and got caught on a binder so i could see it.
Figures. I need to be neater and more organized. But I'm not making any bets that i accomplish that.

Just way too fake... and I know these movies are supposed to be fake, cheesy romance and that is fun, but this was fake, cheesy, slapstick and not really romance? They both got their "happily ever after" in the first one so I guess they needed to manufacture an issue?
I just can't get past how Edward and Kevin were 100% fooled by a fake significant other (especially when they knew there were at least 2 of them), but then other people thought something was fishy... and how no one noticed Fiona was identical when her hair was blonde.
Did you see The Christmas Prince cameo at the end though!?

I think I'm going to either watch Christmas Vacation or maybe a Hallmark movie (I've never seen one) and organize my DD stuff. Husband is up north for the night. Found a desk organizer I didn't realize I had in my scrap area and will see if it might work for my stuff.

While I haven't started watching any holiday movies yet, I did set up a HOLIDATE Bingo night with some friends. We will all watch on our own devices and be on zoom as well. Thanks joblackford!!! And I'm in the fake-it-til-you-make-it stage of my DD. I make a title page and put something on the inside cover. I made a 3X8 calendar by modifying one I found online. It didn't have 7 boxes across for the 7 days of the week. I couldn't take it so I made a proper one. I will fill it with tiny stickers because I love how that works. We went through all 7 years of DD and took notes about stuff we like and want to repeat in this year's. So tomorrow I will make a pocket that will hold tags. I also started working on my Day 9 by collecting images of all the gifts I bought for my 9 nieces and nephews. I'm going digital with it. We'll see...

By the slim margin of a melted snowflake... 🤣 Christmas movies are ....Christmas movies and I never have high expectations. Christmas Chronicles surprised me last year

So I definitely don't have high standards for these movies! Now I'm questioning if I should remove Operation Christmas Drop from my list... there are so many options!

This week I'm buying the supplies to make Graham cracker "gingerbread" houses.
Graham crackers
Various candies- spice drops, Necco wafers, peppermint & spearmint discs, sugared orange slice & spearmint slice candy, mini candycanes, etc.
Powdered sugar for the icing
So much easier & foolproof than using real gingerbread.

Maybe this is one of those rare exceptions where being drunk doesn't make it any better but actually worse... Seriously though, that second half was embarrassing. Such a shame because the first movie was well-balanced and easy to sit through. Controversial opinion: I am still putting Holidate number 1 on the 2020 holiday romance list so far. I know a lot of people hated Emma Roberts's character but I loved the grumpy, Grinchy, disillusioned millenial vibes with sex talk and whatnot. From Hallmark, I really enjoyed the - let's be honest- slightly boring Cranberry Christmas (Movies & Mysteries) about a couple on the brink of divorce rekindling their love and finding their way back to being and living together. Château Christmas and Christmas in Vienna are on our watch list for the upcoming week.

I saw on tic tock that you can melt sugar on the stove and then dip the edges of your cookie house in there to weld the pieces together. Supposedly it works better than using icing when making your house.

The Christmas Prince was less stupid that the princess switch. Even without booze. Still smaltzy and totally would never happen, but less stupid.
