that man can go from zero to whiny bitch/asshole in 10 seconds flat when he is hungry. I have no odea why he doesn't eat before he gets to the asshole stage, but damn.
I'm going to make him take a granola bar of something when I am with him from now on
Anybody else?

He should carry something around w/him for those moments when he's getting to the hangry stage. I wonder if his blood sugar gets too low?

That would be me. But I seriously give people a fair warning if we are out and I have no food. I can feel it coming on and I announce, "I need food in the next twenty minutes or I'm going to go Snickers on you."

My DH was horrible for the 'hanger' but once we became vegetarian, it just went away. I don't know why, but it made my life much more enjoyable 😁

It seems I don't go long enough without snacking, to have experienced this phenomenon.

I do try to take a granola bar or protein bar with me when we go places, but I don't always realize we're going to be out as long as we are. (and sometimes I don't realize it's from hunger until I get TO the whiny/asshole/headache-y stage...) to the OP, good for you, for realizing that it's because he's hungry... it took us a long time to realize that's why I get so cranky when we're out and about. It's not just because I'm *trying* to be a jerk, lol.

My DH does this too (T2 Diabetic) but to make it worse, he won't eat the granola bar or whatever I've brought along. He won't admit that there is anything wrong, says he's not hungry. So then I watch him like a hawk because I know his blood sugar is low, needs food, etc. Then he gets angry because he feels like he's being watched. It's a vicious circle.

My 17 year old.
I know the second she is hungry. She turns into a raging witch. And she just doesn't see it.

Yds can get like that. We were headed to dinner once and yds was being a total a-hole at one point and ods said "dude, you need a snickers bar", everyone busted up and it totally cut the tension in the car (nevermind the fact that yds is a super picky eater and would never touch a snickers bar.....too many things all mixed together, which made it all the more hilarious).

When I am hangry, some people tend to get on my nerves at the speed of a runaway train and it’s impossible to ignore them like I would if I wasn’t. If you’re going piss me off, better give me chocolate first, just saying!

My mom was like that when we were growing up. Jeez, she could fly off the handle. But somewhere along the way, she figured it out and now she snacks mid-afternoon. And she’s really quite calm and pleasant to be around.

Perhaps a code word of Betty White and then walk away. That way he knows he's being assholian but doesn't have to respond to your comment.

I don't get hangry, but I do get nauseated if I get too hungry. I always carry some kind of snack bar with me. DH knows if I say we have to stop to eat, we have to stop.

I can feel it coming on and I announce, "I need food in the next twenty minutes or I'm going to go Snickers on you." This is me too, and it took dh years (like over 15) and dd’s pointing it out to get it. We were traveling and I mentioned I was getting hungry and needed to eat soon. 30 minutes later was still researching for a coffee shop to stop at her were sitting outside a museum on the steps and I fully admit that I may have gotten quite snippy. When were back at home we were talking about our trip and he brought up me causing a fight. Both girls raised their eyebrows at him and he asked what that was about. They shared that possibly wasn’t all mom’s fault, that maybe it is a tad excessive to spend so long looking for a place to get coffee and a snack.

Yes, my husband is part of the hangry crowd, and I do carry protein bars when we’re traveling or out for the day at an event. Otherwise, he can be unbearable.

My ds has a very high metabolism. Once I figured out the kid needed breakfast, snack, lunch, snack, dinner, snack our lives were much better! I had a friend visit once who didn't have any kids and she commented that ds was always eating! I said, "Yes, and he's smiling and we are having a fun time sightseeing because of it!" He always always had granola bars in his backpack and the teachers knew if he got off task to send him out in the hall to eat one. They were great about it. He is still a grazer as an adult and makes sure he has snacks nearby. There are lots of healthy snacks! Drinking lots of water also helps!
I hope you can convince your DH to bring a snack and a water bottle with him!

Oh the “Hangry” club!
Between my thyroid and PMS issues, me (and my family) makes sure I am not hungry 🤣.
Sometimes I just say, “ I am hungry and about to eat. Do not talk to me till I am done “ 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣

I hate when my husband wants to go out to eat. He asks wheee I want to go. I’ll list like 5 places. None of them are what he wants. I say them you pick. “Oh I just want everyone happy”. No, you want everyone to want chicken wings like you. Just fucking say what you want before I kill you.
Phew. He wears me out.

My mother would always politely refer to it as "the wall" because when I would hit it...YIKES.
As someone else said upthread, on behalf of us hangry people, I'm sorry. I honestly couldn't see it coming until I was in it. Whooooooops.

Both of my kids are like this. If they don’t eat regularly they are cranky and mean and then come the tears. I try to keep snacks in the car and know that if we’re out all day we’ll probably have to have a snack or two along with a meal.
