It's been a long stretch since I started working/playing from home in mid-March. I'm starting to really need to do something creative and fun. I've talked about joining a couple of virtual scrap events, but never got around to following through. I think I'd actually like to do one that I have to pay for because it will keep me more focused on participating. I'm finding it harder to focus while at home - even on things that I want to do! (Anyone else feeling like that?)
Anyway, I just saw that Taylored Expressions is doing a virtual event in October. I have used some of their stamps and dies, and I like their stuff. Has anyone done any kind of class or event with them? Any opinions on the quality of their presentations? The Saturday piece is 7 make and takes with a kit mailed to you ahead of time. Cost for that day is $149. I'm willing and able to spend the money, but just wondered if anyone had any thoughts before I commit.
Thanks!

I can't help, but wow $149 for a virtual event? That seems like a lot. I will go check it out to see what that is about. No I have never done anything with them.

The $149 includes everything you need (except basic tools) for 7 make and takes with 10 cards, plus a $75 swag bag. I do understand that it is a chunk of money, but I'm willing to support companies if they're going to do a good job. I also don't have a lot of items from that company so chances are the swag bag will have at least some things I can use. See, I can justify anything!

I signed up for it. I have never done one before but I did Queen for a day as a virtual (they sent me videos) and I did for free the volume mega meet events and had a lot of fun. I think it’s great to be able to do these from the comfort of my own home and have the techniques to be able to re-refer to whenever I want. All the reviews are read about past events are very positive. I’m doing some classes from CKC (the Arlington one) next weekend. I like doing stuff from home.

I think it is worth it given that you get all of those kits plus swag. I've also done the virtual Queen for a Day, Volume Mega Meet, Scrapbook & Stamp Expo at Home events and One of a Kind Virtual events. I've purchased kits and product from all to craft along when offered and I've found it nice to be able to be in the comfort of my own home but learn a new technique.
I just tried to find a link to the event and the only one I found is not working. Do you have one?

Thanks for the input, ladies. You're definitely helping me make up my mind! Here's the link that I'm using. (At least, I hope it's here - I've never tried this link thing before!) TE Stamp Joy

Sounds like fun, and I love their products, but that weekend is Canadian Thanksgiving. Good thing, cuz I just saw their additional costs to ship to Canada.

I've taken a couple of classes from Taylor at my local stamp store. She had family living in my local area, so she would teach a class at my local shop whenever she came out to visit. She is an excellent teacher, IMO, and the cards we made were super cute. If memory serves, I think I paid $40 each time for a two hour class and we made three or four cards each time. It was easily five years ago that I took those classes, too. If you're interested, here are links to my blog posts where I recapped each of the classes and show what we created. I'm just coming off a virtual all-day event. (not with TE though, another random virtual event I found). It was 8:30am - 5:00pm, and was $120. Which included stamps, dies, and everything you needed to make 20 projects (outside of general adhesive but did include pop dots).
Here's what I didn't like, it was on Facebook Live private group. There was nobody to talk to, no socialization, no giggles, no oops, no nothing. It was actually quite boring. It also gave two 2-hr breaks, so really the event was like 4.5 hours. Turns out the 2-hr breaks were to finish cards that we didn't finish during the time slot, or eat lunch. I ended up not even doing the afternoon projects and just watching the instructions so I could do it later. I could have got that off of You-Tube though.
The pace was what I usually like, as I'm a fast card maker, but the teacher had pre-cut and pre-stamped all of HER items, but we had to die-cut or stamp ours so it took longer, but she just kept going, so I literally was finishing the 1st card, and she was on the 3rd card. Again - I'm not a slow maker at all, but she had a head start on everything and was just assembling, where as we were doing it all.
Also - we had a ton of issues with FB cutting out, and had to log back in multiple times during the day. Also - her camera kept blurring and going clear every time she moved, so that was frustrating. Technology is tough and not her fault, but still a frustrating experience.
Overall, I felt like I was working on kits, which I wasn't looking for in this event, and not for $125.
Would I do it again - nope. Unless its on Zoom where it can be interactive and we get a heads up on die-cutting a head of time. I'm not looking for the pieces to come already die-cut, as we have the dies to do it. But dang, slow down for us to be able to do it.
Just my experience. I hope yours is better!

This is really great feedback! Thanks for sharing. I would not enjoy the class you described - first, no facebook, so that's a big 'no' right out of the gate. Second, I would hate to not be able to be interactive. I would much rather have some format that is interactive - like zoom - where people could share their work as they go. Haven't done a virtual crop yet - but I'm looking.
