If you have the app on your iPad or similar, you can also download programs to watch when you don't have an internet connection.

Yes, that’s exactly how we use it at our lake cabin. Our smart tv has a dedicated app for it so all you have to do is log in once and it saves the info. For our non-smart tv, we have to stream it through the app on a phone or iPad to an Apple TV but that also works.
